If you're going to abolish auto qualifying, you need to re-reset twd. It would be unfair tot hose squads if two weeks from now you tell them "oh btw, you need to start playing twld which you've been ignoring to try to make lj and lb, because we changed the rules"

Not neccesarily Nick, it's easier to gain a lot of points very quickly when you start later into the season. More squads have more points, thus giving you more each win, and near the beginning, you lose a lot less points than if you were to be playing these beginning 1000 vs 1000 games.

I'm all for re-qualifying. If it will bring more activity to the TWD table then there's nothing hurting it. I agree with Nick partly however, in that it is somewhat unfair, however a new reset isn't neccesary, this one happened just recently... I do however feel that the decision needs to be made soon and reported so that squads have enough time to know what they need to do.

tw squads would dissolve even more often which happens too oftenOriginally posted by Capital KnockersI'd like the auto-requalification to be destroyed completely. I personally think it takes away some of the competition in twl. If every squad had to requalify, each year, it would increase intensity and overall squad activity. Letting people in automatically, as nice as the idea is, takes away from the game. With older veterans leaving all the time, we need to change what little things we can to make twl as competitive as we can.

Edit - Could a poll be made to see if other support my opinion? P_L?

a lot of squads with points at this point tend to be scared to play squads in fear of losing points they say why play a squad like -f- if i can play some other crap squad that has more points....i say you have to play them in twl anyway... they don't care and dissolve midseason

I don't really play anymore, but judging by last TWD season, and looking at the scorebox on twd.trenchwars.org that doesn't seem to be the case in the majority. I'm not saying that what you say doesn't happen, I just don't think it happens enough to be that big of a problem. The good squads with lots of points tend to play any squads regardless (from last season, squads like Venom, Dice, -Final- and the like). I'm not talking about the squads that horde points to get into TWL (we all know about those squads like that in the past), but there will always be enough high point squads for a TWL-able squad to play to get enough points by the qualifying date.Originally posted by pasconea lot of squads with points at this point tend to be scared to play squads in fear of losing points

It's just silly to re-start TWD again, especially when we've seen countless times a squad that has lots of talent go from 1000 points to top 5 in the matter of only 1 or 2 weeks. Again, the decision needs to be made as quick as possible however, to let these squads know what needs to be done on their part regardless.

Auto-qualification helps keep TWL stable. I don't see why squads that have proved that they are stable enough to stick around for an entire season (or at least had enough victories to make the playoffs) shouldn't be rewarded for being stable. In a game where new squads come and go so easily, keeping in squads that have proven track records in activity (even if they do worse in record the season after like Pallies did) is much more important than adding in new squads that do well, then flame out and break up. If new squads really want to join, they will, and those that don't get the last 8 spots probably weren't that serious to begin with.Epinephrine's History of Trench Wars:

That's cuz they don't really go mia, but either play other zones or aliases.Originally posted by DislikedHowever, I have a bigger problem, being an atheist for 9 years, most of it during my teenage years I've become a little addicted to masterbation. First of all, for diso and probably pallies, a lot of players who were really good, didn't take a break because offseason didn't mean anything, but mostly because they needed a break. it's not easy to keep the care-level as high as when you were still 15 years old. problem is that those players never really got back on their old care-level. i doubt having to requalify would've helped in people caring again. in my own case, it's even so that the less i play when sober (not counting those nights i come online drunk) in offseason the better i'll do in twl. after so many years it's pretty much 90% motivation and 10% getting te rust of with a few games. with that i come to my second point. i wouldn't compare diso and (especially) pallies to -f-. Diso and pallies have never been great in dueling, when we were awesome at basing, no one else based or really cared. -F- has a far more skilled core, who also stay active in other zones and such, they simply have a big nerd-advantage. :P but yeah i somewhat can agree with you anyway. inactivity is especially bad for those squads who do need to qualify, they won't get better unless they play vs the best squads, who will try if they have to qualifyOriginally posted by Cig SmokeThe thing is auto-qualification works because those squads will make it to TWL either way (qualifyin or auto-qualified) but it also presents the problem it has for the past few seasons, the INACTIVITY specificaly by these auto-qualifying squads.

In some cases it dont affect anything much like -f- every year. They go MIA in off-season come back for the season and own it like nothing changed. Then you got squads like pallies and diso who make the playoffs, go super inactive then come back worst then the season b4. They still make playoffs but they arent near as good as they were the previous season.

I Think that auto-qualifyin is cool, but i also dont think it would hurt us to remove it completly. Afterall i think that this will make TWL more competative and those squasd will qualify either way.

ah well, i deserved my break.

I don't disagree that you need a break, but then give the TWL spot to the squads that really care. TWL shouldn't have a couple of squads that don't have the same 'care-level' as you put it, just because they made playoffs last season. You made a great point, a lot of people that don't care aren't as good the next season... and in all honesty, you guys are good guys, but if you don't care, it should be given to squads that do.

Exactly, Bram im in the same boat as u. I was younger and cared more then, then i do now, but still TWL is suppose to be for the best, and be the best league we have. Its not really fun to have a squad like pallies who were dominant 2 seasons ago, then come back last season and suck it up like some newbies. Im not sayin they didnt deserve a spot in TWL because they would of made it auto or non-auto invite, but my own opinion is if they had to qualify last season then they would of been better and probably made the playoffs again last year. Pallies is just an example because they really dropped off bad, but i think other squads like DISO for example drop off just slightly year to year, and i think mainly bc of inactivity.

Epi: im sure if those squads made playoffs they would probably end up requalifyin again in TWD for the next season anyway and they would be out of rust and better. I was a fan of the "carry every squad over to next season rule" awhile back, but then i realized that playoff squads was a better move. Now i think that its probably better to try to make those playoff squads keep there playoff skills and not come back the following yhear and go 2-8 in leagues._o_2NASRALLAH

Weird thing is, when I did that trace I was having some lag, 300 ping avg. But I never lag really. the real problem is how long there are between seasons. When we sit around for 6 months waiting for a new season to start, it kills the older squads. The only TWO TIME TWLJ All-Star and TWLB All-Star who never played a game.
