TWL Starting When?

2 ways, which way do you prefer?

A. we are working on the bots and websites. once they are done, twl will start. As to when? dont know. Keep in mind people work on these stuff on their free time. We will keep you updated asap if any news come up.

OR

B. We set a date, bots/site not done by that date, we keep on postponing the date until they are done.

If you prefer B, then let me say this: TWL starts on Jan 28th, 2006.
Jan 28th: TWL delayed for 1 week due to bot problems, starts on Feb 4th.
Feb 4th: TWL delayed for 1 week due to bot problems, starts on Feb 11th.
Feb 11th: TWL delayed for 1 week due to bot problems, starts on Feb 18th.
Feb 18th: TWL delayed for 1 week due to bot problems, starts on Feb 25th.

I know staff works on their free time, and Im thankful of the people who do. Still, obviously more people could be of much aid - why not try to get them? Staff should encourage people to get into this stuff, the same people cant take care of TW forever. It'll either have to be passed on, or it'll just slowly die out. Maybe some of the staff can post good links and advice on the forums, to help people get started, and teach them. That way the staff thats been working at this forever can enjoy more of their free time, and maybe TW would run a little smoother.

Two new coders were recruited to staff last month to help restore the development staff and TWDev is always looking for new developers. The starting point has always been to learn Java programming since all our bots are done in that language. Beyond that speak to Ikrit once you have a solid understanding and have a look through http://twcore.twzone.net/core/. There are other links I can give you that have always been on this forum but mainly to get into programming and development in this zone it takes a little more then a passing intrest.

tell the programmers we dont need new bots, just a slight adjustment for them, all I can think of needed to change on the bots is that it displays games on the website with the right league number on top of it. What would be nice is a bot which wouldnt have to change each season to be worked on, but why ask programmers to do this when everyone is waiting for league to start and not right after the season. To me it seems staff doesnt care enough and needs some fresh replacements on top.

just because last season finished on a good note doesnt mean the bots are flawless. in fact there were big issues that you just dont know. dont assume staffs dont care about the league just because things arent going your way. Grow up.

At least a lot of squads are getting to a better level now and some squads got reformed. TWL will be more competitive this way. (and less mediocre squads that will get into TWL)

Its hard to get everyone satisfied... If we would start early, the bots wouldn't be ready and we'll have last season all over again (buggy games ect.)

We wait a bit longer now and have good bots. In the end, the time it takes to play Twl will be the same.

(Psst, coders, if you deliver bad bots now, the Tw population will be out of control! :shock1: :crying: )

Im TWL-OP and I was told that bots were DONE by one coder who left staff and when I have tryed to talk to him to give the bots for tryout, he does not anwer and does not talk back to other twl-op's too. Dont know whats the matter there. I guess we must rely on the twdev ppl now, they do fabulous work btw.
Im not online usually when other TWL-OP's are on, so others may know better about that.

We are aware of the new increasing situation with cheating people also, but its very much harder to cheat in TWL with many ppl watching etc.

Then, site still needs little tuning im told, layout etc. are ready. Guy who worked on it has no much time to do it right now and he should ask help for it but first he needs to tell what he needs and I can point that project on new rails. My best guess wheres the problem is the connection between bots and site, well if we aint got the real bots, we wont get the connection.

Thats what I know, and when I get to know what needs to be done Ill conctact everyone who can help with it.

Remember, you guys say that "give us info and how we can help with twl", if you really want to help and can do stuff, please go talk to TWDew people, I think they had thread there about recruiting new people. Thats where we will direct stuff whats needed to be done, not here.
