Make TWL Pay

That's right, you heard me. Set up a one-time credit card payment of $15 to play in TWL. With all the whining about people using CE and evading bans, etc., the only thing I can think of that would ultimately cut banned cheaters out of TW is to force everyone to pay $15 to play.

Think about it. You pay $15. All your names are assigned to that account by IP. You don't cheat, you have nothing to worry about AND you have the satisfaction of contributing to the game you just so happen to be addicted to (until now, for free).

Now, assume you cheat and get banned. Well, your account is banned. You can't change your IP or format your hdd and play with the same account, so you have to spend another $15 to get into TWL. For persistent evaders, this would quickly be crippling to any nerd's budget.

Not only would the cheaters spend more money supporting TW (ironic eh?), but the general level of competitiveness would rise significantly, since those who don't care so much wouldn't pay.

note: $15 is just some arbitrary amount. The best amount is something that won't set you back much but is enough that you wouldn't want to pay it 2-3 times just to play TWL.

Bad idea. It would hurt TWL much more than it would help and I'd be suprised if it didn't eventually kill TWL.

Well currently, all names on TWL are unique (no ds'ing TWL qualified squads), so there really isn't any further need to make the IP any stricter. Say you had to play TWL from out of town or something, then it'd be unfair to not do so because of your restricted IP. Not to mention dynamic IP's, don't even know how that will work. I also don't understand the idea of how making TWL entrants pay a fee will stop cheaters directly. If they really wanted to, they could still do it, however staff are pretty confident this TWL season will be played on fair grounds as our comprehension of what cheats are currently "out there" are totally within our grasp. There might also be cheaters who are rich bastards, then this won't even matter.

15 dollars is hella steep, some p2p games online don't even charge this much monthly or even annually. Which also brings forth the argument that if you aren't financially secure or not of age, you will be rid of your privellege to play for reasons that this proposal did not intend.

Yes, some addicted people, even cheaters, would get $15 somewhere, they dont even need to be rich, and pay to play TWL.

And as someone said, it would eventually kill TWL, since most players wouldnt pay that $15 because of age restrictions or even that they are addicted, they wouldnt pay it.

I'd pay 15 bucks for a TWL season, I mean, how often do they happen right? I can't beleive no one would be willing to do that, how long have we played this game for free? People are tired of the bullshit, so either we stop the bullshit, or pay the fuck up.

Well I had this idea in mind but im not going to make a thread about it because "FOREIGN" got my idea, and I dont think people want another related forum. So, here it goes, how about since Trench Wars has been here for a while, and more than 1000 people play Trench Wars, why not find a sponsor? Other major online games like "Halo 2" have worldwilde tournaments which are worth money, and what I mean is, why not the TWL winners get paid some money? I mean, I'm sure more people will come back to TW since now people will take this more serious and we will have a more competitive season, makes it better and more challenging now. So what i'm saying, the 3-LEAGUE TWL winners get paid some sort amount of money. I mean, more people will come back to play for leagues, make this game more exciting like it was a while ago, and now people will look for more competition during TWL season and TWD season. So, what do you think about it?

Yeah these are the prizes for this seasons' MLG (major league gaming). Its insane, this is for each tournament. There are 10 MLG events per season, there's New York, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, etc.

Lol... the reason Halo 2 and games like that can get sponsers is because they are massively popular games. Trench Wars doesn't have 1% of the playerbase of Halo 2.
