  • NEW tie-breaker system... maybe?

the always interesting topic of TWL: Tie-breaking...

rec vs head-to-head, has always been debated over and over and over again.
why not use this? when 2 teams have the same rec, look at their conference rec first. since both of these 2 teams will play the exact same opponents in their own conference, and the cross-conference matches are usually the ones that people debates on, why not just count the ones that matters? by looking at the conference rec of these 2 teams, you also eliminate the argument on "head-2-head counts only 1 game, and some ppl might not show up due to various of reasons to that game." since its conference rec, the entire season is accounted for.

    suggestions?
    1 + 1 = 1

I think there should be a round only with tied teams before playoffs.

uhm... u should make all squads involved duel eachother. it was sad to see Squad!! go in before BOTH -final- and quicksand last year tbh.

if you do 3 duels between those squads; everything could have easily be solved; and there would be no arguments tbh. in that way; the spots are taken in a real black and white way

          Awesome quote.

I agree, let the squads involved duel eachother.

Being about the only person "screwed" by head to head I still think its the best system to use. Why would you compare recs against another squad when you can directly compare the two? It makes no sense at all. What you should do is make sure that all the games can be played and that the +/- for forfeits cant be the determining factor.

i want to eliminate the lame excuse of "head2head sucks because our best lineup cant show up every week, we lost to them cause our best ppl didnt show up, etc etc etc"

by comparing in-conference recs, you basically compare the whole season, but leaving out the cross-conference people. so the excuse of "our best didnt show up that game" can be used anymore its the rec is based on almost the entire season.

nothing is set yet, this is just an idea

Conf rec sounds good, but I think head-to-head should be the deciding one. If the poor attendance is bad for one squad that day, while the other squad was good, and was able to win, they should be rewarded that right in tie-breaking circumstances.

Thats just my opinion, both sound fine to me.

Well if you are still planning on doing my World Cup style system for TWL this year

Where there are 6 weeks of 16 squads, 6 weeks of 8 squads, and then semi finals, and finals. Then some of the tiebreaking crap should be fixed, or atleast the tie breakers will be better. What would be more fair then tie breakers is give each squad a point value as they enter TWL based on what rank they in starting TWL. #1 = 50, #2 = 45, so on, so on. Then decide tie breakers based on who has beaten the better squads and still having the same record.

anything is better then +/- when for example 1 team has to play Dice in LB crossconference, and the other team gets to play Teks.

Pretty sure they said we get to play everybody once when they only let 12 people per league in. Head-to-head is the logical choice

Yes, when all teams play the same opponents +/- is the best choice.
This way your team will be rewarded when you really crush an opponent... and a team will be punished for playing a weaker line cause they will win anyway.
This way a lot of team constantly want to play their best lines, and this might cause weaker but still good players on the best squads to join a somewhat weaker squad to be sure to play TWL... and this increases the strenght of the league.

Ok, the idea behind my reasoning is brilliant... but it will never happen...

Since everyone plays everyone, I don't really care what happens to decide ties... I'd do what schope said, make a tie-breaker game...

Cause head2head has it's cons and pro's.... yet +/- has his cons and pro's aswell...
