HoN hasn't been that great =/

I mean.. they just look at the stats and then go like: "heyy my friend xxx did nice rec again. He is definately the hot player of the week."
or
"oh man that squad x sucks.. everyone hates them and they lost to defending champs. They all are the not players of the week."

It should be like, the BEST player of the week.. i mean, rec doesn't matter that much if you help your team to take the game. For example i've never seen any sharks on hot or not lists, even if they had carried their team to victory/loss. How many times have a read an hot article of some campy spid vs some crappy underdog squad. "Woo he did awesome 80-2 rec vs the worst squad in league!! definately the best player of the week"

What there has been, haven't often been the real hot/not players of the week. It's just another popularity contest just like TWLM is mostly. Sure there are players that want to win it, but mostly ppl don't carse about it and buy players who are their friends.

To be honest, why do i even care :fear:

There are a few reasons for all of this. First, in two of the three leagues rec is the primary factor in determining whether your squad wins or loses. Sure, teaming is also key - playing solo like an elim/baseelim newbie isn't going to help much - but if you aren't killing then you're generally not helping.

Second, and I openly admit to this, some strenuous scheduling forced me to check some game stats a couple of times last season. With six or eight matches being played in some time slots last season it was extremely difficult and in some cases impossible to keep up with all of them, so I did have to rely on cold hard statistics alone more than I would have liked to.

Finally, some weeks were just plain boring. TWLB Week 10 consisted of almost nothing but blowouts. Six matches that week had victory margins of over 13 minutes. Squads were forfeiting week in and week out in TWLD and TWLJ. There's really not much you can write when stuff like that happens. This, combined with my other two points, kind of reduces some weeks to a stat-fest in which campers get the glory and trash-talkers get what's coming to them.

You do make a valid point about sharks not receiving much mention in either category. Ephemeral, Stabwound and myself are the only ones that I know made it off the top of my head. I think the main reason for this is, like Kim said, it's tough to track four ships and every single rep/bomb/mine they use, and you can't really go on numbers alone to determine a shark's success like you can (to a limited degree, at least) with fighters. There are some quality sharks out there, and I agree that they deserve to be shown a little more love here.

I think if nothing else last season's articles at least created a bit of a storyline and added a little drama for some people, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that. I feel like a few of the articles produced or at least fueled some rivalries, and that made a few players take their game to another level. Even if it's just to prove people wrong, I think making players more competitive is ultimately beneficial to the leagues.

ph is the only one capable of doing it, so someone convince him he needs to spend 2-3 hours a weekend doing it + watching any and all games, and there you are. The submit articles doesn't work, because nobody does it. Other than ph and Izor, we got no articles last season. The only fair thing to do is to put HoN in the hand of one guy, and give him two lower guys, not just one, because thats what happened to me when PaulO couldn't do it anymore, and i like ph, and don't want him to get fucked over.

I agree that PH does as good as job as anyone can, but I do not see how one person can do it.

Not saying that you're doing a bad job PH, i'm just saying that we just need more phs to watch games and write articles.. Maybe specialist for every league? I bet there are more than 10 willing to write HoN articles.

Last season we had less than 10 guys write articles all season. All but 3 only wrote 1 article all season, only 2 guys were consistent in writing articles, and even then, didn't write one every week.

basers shouldnt even have a HorN then, its a waste of time no one cares about it and if sharks are gonna bitch about not being picked MVP all the time then learn a different ship... Just like in proffesional sports, you dont see the Offensive Linemen get picked MVP in NFL games, you wont see sharks get picked mvp either. Learn a different ship and maybe you will get recognized by people outside of ?go base
