I think that it is all about presentation.
Some people in this world try to stay factual and try to clearly mark their opinions as just that, an opinion. Others choose to be less factual and pay little or no attention to how they present their opinion. These people do not preface their comments with 'My opinion is..' or 'I think...' but instead state their opinion as factual. Is it any wonder why there are so many arguments and bitching?
Many of these same people feel it is their job in life to create drama (facts do not get in the way of this), no matter if their behavior is juvenile and that of an inconsiderate asshole. As long as THEY feel it is fun for them, fuck what anyone else thinks or feels.

Some trash talk, like trash talking with someone who you have a very strong relationship with, would not usually cause problems. But it is my opinion that random trash talking achieves nothing more than calling attention to oneself and creating extra drama that few want or care about. Apparently some people feel that the competition and challenge of league play pales in comparison to the value of generating extra e-drama. Apparently they also think that skill, teamwork and camaraderie is for losers, being able to shit talk is all anyone needs to be considered cool in this community.

read a book on human communication vs. animal communication sometime. you'll find out that apart from a couple of exceptions no animals anywhere in their communication have displacement (the ability to talk about things other than here and now), open-endedness (the ability to utter something never said before) or arbitrariness (the ability to communicate anything in any given situation).
