The Story:

I left Rampage on 4th march and joined Thunder on the same day 12:37, which was before TWL started.

12:37 on March 4th was a sunday. It may have been true that no games had been played yet by any squad at that point, but i believe that the best way to interpret the rules is that the 1st "available" timeslot (even if no captain has chosen it) on saturday is when that week's "round" should be considered as begun. Now, if you had left and joined another squad on noon saturday (before any available timeslots) I think you may have a better argument going for you, but even then it would not have been bullet-proof since the weekend would have already began.

So basically I think I agree that pascone made the right call in asking you to sit out in week 2.



However, I do agree that the rules should be a bit more clearly laid out and should state a specific time so that deductive reasoning is not necessary to interpret the rules.

Hey now, I don't think he ever said that. As a staff member, please be a bit more mature. It was a valid point he brought up, although it may have not been entirely correct.

Nikolai, the rules applied to you in this scenario, I understand the effort however on this post because you misunderstood the situation for a whole week. It's pretty fucking disappointing, but you'll get in there next time, and we have plenty of weeks ahead of us.

how did i set it up if you talked to someone else before i was even signed on the game? no one person makes a decision on anything, that wouldn't make any sense

So unless someone else is in charge of correctly handling twl and the rules to which it runs by, he might have you here.

edit/Tip - Clarify the rules a little? If people are still having these difficulties by TWL Season 10, who else is there to blame but the people running TWL? Everyone is having the same problems, just in different forms.

but what im saying is that someone else on twl staff told me that nik was having a problem and wanted me to explain why it was the way it was. i had nothing to do with the "decision," i merely only explained why he couldn't play and coincidently happened to be on the squad he was against.

perhaps my statement was slightly out of line but it is just a weak argument. i would know cause i tried to make the same argument last year about the rules not being clearer than day

niko using ur "logic," i just read neth's post so if you left right b4 your game you technically left THAT week, so therefore you miss NEXT week which in this case would be Sake vs. thunder game so pascone was right and your just an idiot.

Even though Nikolai left my squad without saying a word to me as to why, I think he does raise a good point. Define when a week starts. You've had 6 years to do that, what the hell is the problem? If you want to be technical and say a week starts as soon as it could have started, that needs to be explicitly stated in the rules, otherwise if Nikolai had been a starter on your squad instead you might have argued in his favor and had no part of the official rules that would have prevented you from doing so.

So, simply, put it in the rules so everyone is clear and no assumption can be made. There should never be room for guessing as to what a rule means. If there is, you have written shitty rules.

well you bring up some good points. 1, it hasn't been a problem for 6 years until now. 2, he could have asked a twl op before leaving his squad and asked if he would have been eligible for the next week instead of interpting the rule himself. 3, finally, i don't know how many times to explain this, but i didn't have anything to do with deciding how this rule works, i can't stress that enough. I merely explained the reasoning that the rest of the twl staff gave.

and if i'm not mistaken.. 2d had the same problem 2 seasons ago.. how he left syndicate and played for pirates the next week when it was a sunday to sunday.. and the TWL Ops at the time said 2d was elgible to play..

so yes i do agree with foreign that we need more detailed rules..

2d and I left Venom and joined Pirates 2 seasons ago. We specifically asked p_l whether it was okay for us to do this and still play the following week and he told us okay. So please don't bring 2d into this, as it was specifically allowed! In fact as I recall, the controversy from that event led to the revamping of the rule 5.04. Originally it only said that players are ineligible for the round until the next round, and since we left before the round was over (keeping in mind we skipped at least one of venom's games that weekend), it counted as the ineligible round due to the wording of the rule.

The wording was then updated to what it is now. If it's still unclear, perhaps someone should have brought that fact up before the season started, but for me personally it seems to make sense that a TWL round starts on Saturday the first timeslot available.



As for Nikolai (aka the guy who hates me ), just to let you know, I doubt pascone was trying to abuse you. The conversation as I remember on staff chat last Sunday went something like this. I don't remember if it was talking about you, but it seems to fit either way:

some staffer> so there's someone who just quit and joined another squad but before today's games started. Can they still play?
upper staff> yeah sure it's before the round
some other staff guy> wait, didn't the rounds officially start saturday?
upper staff> oh yeah good point, okay guess not
first staffer who asked question> oh okay

last year when i left and rejoined sake i had to miss the following week's game. Why are you special?

I remember last twl when player x (mouse) left squad y (Pandora) at sunday because they lost to squad z (Dice). He even wrote to conference that he left because he was angry after a loss. Yet he was playing next week because they sent email to TWL Ops telling that he left by accident. Of course his post in forums was edited too...

Oh and he was cap so you really can't deroster one by accident. That's some bs if you ask me.
