  • Old Duelling Leagues idea

    This is an idea that I've seen discussed several times, and it just might be a good one.

    For the next season, would it be nice to have a collective death limit of 50 instead of an individual limit of 10?

    Why/why not?

      It would be a totally different league then, player elimination is pretty much the whole idea currently.

        this will cause 1 or 2 people on a squad to just run show..its a team game so id say no to this idea

          I'm all for it. The game is straight retarded when people die out early..but it will never happen so I wont bother posting anymore afk bye

          edit: you'd see a big change in how the game is played because people like me who die out real fast with a lot of kills would dominate even more

          edit 2: garbage players like last standing and geisha who hide until their team dies out and have recs of 9-3 would be horrible because their teammates would continue to die

            I like how it is now, but I think there would be more action with the collective death limit. It would be cool to test this in twdd for fun.

              Would be fun to try out. This would probably end up increasing the gap between the best and the worst squads though, because the worst squads usually have 1-2 chokers at all times.

                    Instead of the focus being on eliminating the other teams weakest players, the focus would be on teaming.

                    Hero*, the ownage players of a team will always run show, no matter how the rules are. Besides, with the focus on teaming, and 5 players working well together to preserve their number of deaths.

                      sounds fun, but i don't think it's a good idea to replace what is already in place. just like the saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."

                          I'm not sure why, but I can't imagine it will do much to improve gameplay. How often does a squad lead in kills by a fair margin, yet loses because one of their players goes out?
                          If a squad leads they usually end up winning in most cases anyway, unless there are 2 severy choking players in it.

                          At least the 10 deaths-out principle makes protecting teammates important instead of just saying "ah well, costs us one life" when a teammate gets chased, and adds to strategies.

                          In spiders the shared death principle actually works, as it is easier to get spawned in a spider without having a chance to find your own team again.

                            I think it would make gameplay more fast-paced, and spawns would become half as useful - you still get a kill, but it won't screw the guy getting killed.

                            At worst we should at least try it. Perhaps try it as an event, deathmatch type thing, and maybe a *duel bot/arena for it... if reception is positive, it could move on from there.

                            The thing is, it can't be like TWSD where people found a novel idea intruiging but then interest died out - if you gradually introduce it to TW, we can find if it's feasible before we devote an entire league or division to it.
