The only game I'm really torn on the outcome is Plade vs. Mambo.
I hope the captains give me a good opportunity to record most of the games. :wub:

TWLB Standings

Annnyyyyway...

Let's get back to Playoffs talks. Here's what I've figured out in regards to TWLB:


Clinched Spots
These squads all get into playoffs no matter what.

Pandora has clinched the #1 seed. Their only competitor in terms of win-loss record is us (Penetrate), and they beat us, so tie breaker would give it to them whatever happens this upcoming week.

Penetrate has clinched the #2 seed. Dice wins, we lose, we still get the benefit of the tie breaker.

Dice has clinched any old playoff spot, but they don't necessarily have the #3 seed. If they lose this week and Plade wins, Plade gets #3 due to tie breaker. And while Spastic could rank higher than Plade if both squads won, Spastic would be ranked lower than Dice due to tiebreaker, leading to that confusing Rock/Paper/Scissors type of ranking flow.


Good Position
These squads have not clinched a playoff spot, but if they get a win this last week they're guaranteed a spot, and the scenarios in which they don't get a spot requires a number of somewhat-likely to unlikely things to occur.

Spastic still has a chance of not making it in. If they lose, 4 squads could get a better ranking, but in order to achieve that higher ranking each would need a win: Diso, Plade-Mambo (one of these squads will get the win), and Sage could fill up the 3 non-clinched spots and just edge them out.

Plade oddly enough, although it is the only squad with a shot to take the #3 seed away from Dice, has not actually clinched a playoff spot. If they lose, Spastic gets in over them no matter what, Sage can get in over them with a win+tiebreaker, and Mambo (the squad they play this last week) will of course get that win and have the tiebreaker.

Disoblige hasn't clinched a playoff spot either. If they lose Plade and Spastic beat them to a spot automatically, and Thunder can get in with a win (tiebreaker yada yada).


Bad Position
These squads do not control their own destiny; even with a win in this last week they can still be prevented from going to the playoffs due to other squads winning (pretty obvious since the above "tier" can clinch with a win, making 6 squads total).

Mambo might not get in even with a win because Diso has them beat whatever happens, Thunder can rank higher with a win against Sage, and Spastic can rank higher with a win of their own against Style. That's assuming two wins not in their favor, of course, so they have a better chance than the other (currently) 5-5 squads.

Thunder's 5 losses are all to squads that get in over them no matter what; Thunder having at best a chance to tie with their respective records. In addition, Diso, a squad they beat, can still get in over them simply by getting a 7th win. So again, even if they win they still might be left out.

A Sage win against Thunder will improve their chances a bit, but Diso outranks them whatever happens, the winner of the Plade-Mambo fight will be out of their reach (a Plade win means a better record, while Mambo has the tiebreaker advantage), and Spastic can improve to a better record of 7-4 (compared to their possible 6-5) with a win.


New Jersey
These squads, much like the state of New Jersey, have no chance of being a winner: no matter what happens they don't get into the playoffs. But hey, it isn't all bad.

Style is a multi-league squad, and LB was clearly their weakest league with a possible 2-9 finish. However, they still have the LD and LJ playoffs to look forward to (a clinch already in hand for LD's #1 seed, and an LJ playoff spot all depending on their last game of the season), unlike the other squads on this part of the list and other LB-only squads further up.

Teks is striving to accomplish the remarkable feat of losing all of their regular season games, and with Dice being their last game of the season, it looks to be very likely. The tiny, tiny silver lining here is that if they can make the cut again next season, it won't be possible to do even worse than an 0-11 record (unless, of course, demand somehow goes up substantially and the TWLB season is extended to a larger number of games played).

Kiwanis obviously didn't have a chance from the start, taking on Juice's losing record and only being able to play the last 3 games of the season. Pandora is their opponent in this last week, so they'll almost assuredly walk away without a win unless Pandora decides to just hand it over. The silver lining here is that they got to participate in TWL at all, and having 0 wins in a limited number of games is still better than no play time at all.


So Heavensent, the question is, which matches do you record if there are scheduling conflicts? Here are my own ideas.

Considering all of this, I'd say the most interesting games to look at will be Diso's, Plade's, and Spastic's games, because as you know by now after reading the above, a win by these squads guarantees them a spot in the playoffs. They have every reason to put on a good show, and these matches can actually provide a "Playoffs or not" answer independently of the other games.

Thunder vs. Sage should be good as well, seeing as how both squads MUST have a win to even consider a shot at the playoffs. This should be a great game to watch in terms of fierce competition for the flag, but because the winner here may not even get into playoffs anyway, it isn't as interesting as it could be.

Pandora vs. Kiwanis might be entertaining to see based on what kind of effort Kiwanis can put up against the squad that has been the best this season. If they put up a good fight against a Pandora lineup that hasn't been purposefully self-sabotaged, they can at least take some pride in it and look forward to next year.

And, of course, that leaves the Dice game versus Style. This game affects nothing beyond who specifically gets the #3 seed (something that really isn't in doubt anyway), while the game itself will be pretty one-sided.






EDIT: Yeah, looking at Jeen's posts, it's clear that things aren't as easy as I thought they were. I knew of most of the tie scenarios, but forgot the most important one: the tie that might force a squad out of playoffs based on total time. So some of these "if" situations I thought up aren't as 100% certain as I thought they were in terms of the outcome. So yeah, you guys should just figure it out for yourselves, these ties and rock-paper-scissors style wins are making the rankings a huge fucking mess.

Thats a bit much. I did 44-4 in a losing effort. That is obviously a good effort on my part. I think the guy died like 11 times or so? With less kills. Also one more thing. Do you really think that if we weren't dicking around with specials that you would actually stand a chance against us? your little 6 game win streak is really something to brag about when several of the squads were just screwing around while playing you. You probably wont even make playoffs anyways because mambo will beat you next week. Don't see why some random guy with numbers all in his name starts mouthing off to better players after some meaningless wins. TWLB is not the only thing on diso's to do list. Unlike your squad, we are successful in all three leagues. Get good then reply.

Ok i'm looking for music for the videos that best represents your squad.
If you guys can help me out on this, it would really be great.
Just mention your squad and list some songs or groups or at least a style of music like Reggae, Techno, Metal, etc.

You're probably right. Plus, next week Kiwanis is playing Pandora, which is highly doubtful they'll even come close to winning that one. So tomorrow would be the best chance to get a video record of Kiwanis.

I'm actually more interested in the Plade/Kiwanis match. Style is a non-factor at this point and Dice will play serious enough to stomp them. I don't think Plade/Kiwanis will be so one-sided. I'm still expecting Plade to win, but Kiwanis still has the pride in them to try, avoiding an utter embarassment and maybe even putting up a real fight.
