150 games of twd-suckiness or you're not good enough for twl.
LOL funniest rule ever.
goodbye TWL probably.
I didn't think to ask if it was 50 games total, or 50 games in each league. Personally, I'd think 50 games combined would suffice. 50 per league does seem a little steep, particularly in BD. I interpreted the rule differently, good thing staff posted a thread about it for us to discuss the rules in!
mantra, obviously you dont deserve to be in TWL if you can't even play 50 games in twd within 4 or 5 months.

1 - I don't like this. Sure the replacement squad usually has no reason to care and may end up getting smoked in their remaining games, but last year proved that wasn't the case. Puma was dropping upsets all over twlj. The twld squads were also a legitimate competition. It doesn't really take much effort to get a replacement squad.
2 - haha
3 - I wanted to try to incorporate this but I couldn't think of a way to do it where people wouldn't think there was some collusion going on. People will say they trust you will pick it randomly (in fact, perhaps a way to ensure this is to pick a couple dates and times and put them somewhere so people know that this wasn't decided the moment the ladder "looked good") but unless there is some form of protection (like what I just mentioned) they will complain like hell when that day comes.

Look at this logically; most squads in TW don't last more than a couple of months. Therefore a cut off point for squads to be eligible to compete in TWL should be made 3 or so months before the start of it will weed out many of the unstable ones and hopefully stop the huge amount of drop outs that we have seen in the last few seasons.
If you want activity as well then you can factor in a base limit of games to have played.
if you're gonna have a 150games requirement to twl atleast give us a heads up on the cutoff point, so that we have some sort of chance of making the games requirement.
150games + no predefined cutoff = no chance in hell we will make it to TWL this season.

but if you already have set a cutoff date, wtf is the point of announcing some surprise cutoff rule? dont those sort of cancel eachother out :turned:
nvm, it says sometime in oct, which means you havent set an exact cutoff date.. atleast try to keep yourself up to date with your own rules.

right october, that's how many days away? You only play on sundays? Even if your team is good enough to make it, show some support for the zone, and try to play more than once a week. I mean surely you have more than 5 ppl on at least once during the week. I love how this place bends over backwards for people who play 1x a week for a couple months out of the year.
why should diso be given ample time to "catch up" when they should have been playing the whole time, you know, like everyone else...if you dont make twl its your own faults.

First: Excuses, excuses.
Second: I am? I did not say anywhere I have set a cutoff date, just that it would be sometime in October. Which follows with a surprise qualification rule because it is UNKNOWN. That's why I gave the example "Sometime in the next week," so people would have at least 1 week to know they can fight for a TWL spot. The "sometime in October" is to let everyone know what month it would take place, when the time gets closer I would announce which week.
We want to keep TWL as a serious league of competition, hence all these rules revisions. Disoblige is just going to have to prove how serious TWL is to them if they want to play in it.
Also, these rules are not set in stone yet. They are just going through the process of being written down, edited by TWL staff, shown to public, and now once we get more comments, edited according to public response. THEN they will be set in stone.
Which didn't mention anything cutoff date, but a guesstimation... "sometime in october"
So my "point" still stands, I am not for a surprise cutoff, I would prefer to have a date and time, rather than a some day in the distant future which I will decide based on my personal bias, which is just a cop out IMHO.
If these rules are supposed to increase squad stability and discourage hopping/squadchanges, impose a rule that states a squad has to have been together a certain time, not that it has to play 1098232 games to be elegible, and has the luck of the draw on their side.
If anything, not having a known cutoff date & time will decrease competition, people wont accept challenges, one loss at an inopportune time = no twl for you.
also, I have not blamed the new rules for diso not making TWL this year, it's up to us, but I do disagree with these new rules.

Which basically means you have 3+ months to play games. Looking at your recent games, you have played 1 JD since the reset June 9th. If you want to get more active and play games in order to qualify for TWL, 3 months is already a lot of time to work on it. You acted as if I had never given any frame of reference for when the deadline would be, and I showed you I did. You can argue about needing an exact date, but I DID give a deadline, no matter how unspecific you deem it.
150 games may seem like a lot (if you're trying to qualify for all 3 leagues), but it's definitely not that exaggerated to most active squads. Dice and Spastic have done it, Pirates and Thunder and a few others almost have all 3 covered.
Really, when the min. games required was only 15, the potential for lots of unstable and new squads was there. With 50, that would encourage squads to last longer and work together more. Using the theory that a squad can play 1098232 games but is not "worthy" of TWL because you believe they will dissolve doesnt quite make sense. If anything, a squad that plays that many games has stability.
I do like the idea about requiring a squad to be in existence for X length of time. However, this wont replace the min. games but may be added to it as a qualification requirement.
-----------------------------------
In other news,
The rules about getting rid of the no replacement squad rule and the surprise qualification are going to be reviewed and most likely changed/removed.
Anyone have any thoughts on the rest of the rules?
Fair enough, but I personally still don't like it :turned:
As for playing games = stability, I'm still inclined to disagree.
Theoretically, you can have a bunch of people make a squad a week before the cutoff, play a shitload of lame games each day (25 games a day?) and still have the required minimum in time for cutoff.
now im not saying that it is going to happen, but does a squad thats been together a week really mean its stable?
