I think that the rule of no ship changing allowed during a TWL match should seriously be re-considered. If you let people change their ships during a game, not only will there be much more variety in the styles of games, but strategy will also be given a great boost of interest. There should be at least 2 ship changes allowed during a TWL-B match. Make basing more fun than it already it is, give it some spice please. Post to get this rule changed, if you think this rule is silly. Thanks

I must say I was a little surprised that there were no ship changes allowed in the TWLB, but I can understand why there wouldn't be any. On the one hand, one or two changes (anymore could probably be exploited on O/D in tight situations) could help a squad who's line up just isn't working make a comeback of epic proportions. On the other, TWLB is about putting it on the line the first time. TWLD/J are both one round for the same reason, you get ONE shot to prove you're better than the other guy, one time where all the chips are down, and that can bring out amazing play, or some amazing chokes.
It's a matter of preference really, what ever the basing community decides should be what we use, but they both have their advantages. I'm for one change, no more.
Oh, since it is no-changes, can we make it so that Line-ups are submitted to the bot blind (I.E. all ships on both sides are added to the arena at once when both teams are ready). Otherwise, I can see one or another squad dragging their feet on roster submission to see what the other team is playing that match.Last edited by wadi; 04-13-2003, 07:06 AM.

I read somewhere about custom maps for home-field advantage. This could be implemented in TWLB too, not as maps but as a advantage in having ability to pick last.
Just an example:
say every squad plays 20 twlb games. Randomly choose 10 as away games, 10 as home games. When playing as away-team you need to pick your lineup first, then opposing team can see who you have and pick accordingly (sort of NHL?). That way you can match both players and shipsOriginally posted by DislikedHowever, I have a bigger problem, being an atheist for 9 years, most of it during my teenage years I've become a little addicted to masterbation. The reason why we said no changes was because that's how it's always been I believe. And until just a bit ago, the bots didn't have the ability to change.
Also IMO I think it adds to the game strategy in terms of picking a good lineup to start if you can't change the ships. I'm going to look into using Wadi's idea of hiding the ships until the game begins further adding to the strategy.

First of all I think that putting the lineup in MUST be a blind process and should definitely be implemented before leagues start. As for the shipchanges ... if they were to be increased, they should only be increased to 2 MAX. We shouldn't make this a back and forth type of thing where squads make ship changes back and forth just to counteract things using set ships.

i like the blind lineup idea. use it.
as far as shipchanges, they should not and never should be allowed. hockeyzone's league is a prime example for why this is the way things should be:
if your lineup isn't working properly, "ship changes" are handled by subbing out players. any decent team *should* have people in spec readily available to jump into whatever ship is needed. subbed out players may be subbed back in, but only as the ship they started off playing as. the reason you don't allow ship changes for players already playing is so that you don't resort to lame lineups to turtle the time away. granted, basing is alot different from hockey and no lineup is invincible.. but the same principle still does apply and there is a potential for abuse. the only exception to the shipchanging rule is allowing a laggy terr to be subbed by either someone in spec or someone else playing because it is such an important ship (much like why players can switch back and forth to goalie in hz if their goalie is doing poorly or is too laggy).plopp> im not a newbie ok!! im a butterfly waiting to come out of his coon!
