  • TWLD Week 8 Featured Matches

    Well i was wrong on a couple matches last week which is surprising, even though I did go with an upset, but this week hopefully things return to normal.

    Featured Match of the Week ::::: HEAVY vs Quake :::::

    Hands down the best match of the week. If HEAVY wins this they have Disoblige next week so they can coast into the playoffs as the 1 seed having head to head over quake. If Quake wins theyre guaranteed that #1 spot and all thats stopping them from an undefeated season is an underperforming Sake. This game is going to boil down to teamwork, as these games usually do. HEAVY has been rolling except vs Thunder, and Quake has shown that vs top squads (Thunder and Pirates) that they are vulnerable. Their teamwork, or Vash's in particular, can be exploited somewhat easily whereas Quake will have to bank on Izor and/or Annoyance being reckless and dying out early which has only happened once so far. Look for HEAVY to continue rolling after their unexpected speed bump vs Thunder.

    Final Score ::::: HEAVY 50 - Quake 42

    Dynasty vs Sweet :::::

    While this wont make the featured match of the week, the winner of this game should be going up against Pirates in the 'wild card' round of the playoffs. Sweet and Dynasty are both coming off of relatively easy games vs Rape and Diso, respectively, so they have some momentum going in. In order to win Dynasty is going to have to rely heavily on the solid teaming of Regen, Exalt, and KK as well as the killing abilities of Exalt and Unabled. Sweet on the other hand is going to once again rest its hopes on the back of Caos and pray that jones doesnt go 0-x again. At the end of the game though, this appears to me to be a bad matchup for Dynasty as I believe Weak will be too aggressive and end up dying early when frustrated by Sweets playstyles.

    Final Score ::::: Sweet 50 – Dynasty 39

    Disoblige vs Thunder :::::

    Thunder gets to regroup after that close loss to Quake. Have fun guys. You can safely add Fludd and such this round.

    Final Score ::::: Thunder 50 - Disoblige 34

    WhiskeyJack vs Rape :::::

    Welcome to TWL, enjoy beating up on safia. Deliver, try doing so this week.

    Final Score ::::: WhiskeyJack 50 – Rape 45

    Sake vs Pirates :::::

    I want to say something like gather yourselves together after RaCka ran through you so bad with an easy match this week, but if Sake shows the right line you guys arent out of trouble. We all know their top line is capable of putting up some huge numbers, but they havent been here this season. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt though based on probability. Should this become a fight though, look for chokele and vys to shine through like they have been with their mediocrity. That doesnt mean scoop, plob, and herc are any better. they're just not as bad of choke artists in close games and are a little harder to exploit (herc and plob anyway)

    Final Score ::::: Pirates 50 - Sake 37

    Good read, doing three articles every week is pretty tiresome, good to have someone who isn't a moron writing with me.

      TWLD Week 8 Featured Matches
      Trippin on adderall with no work left to finish, I decided to write some featured matches with my graceful literary prowess and insurmountable knowledge. Well it's finally towards the end of the season and Jim Mora himself could not deny what is soon to come and the implications of these last few games. Speaking of which, let's copy and paste those playoff qualifications here so MirrorriM (you bitch) or draft (you son of a bitch) dont pull any funny business.

      For Season 12:

      TWLD will have 6 squads in the playoffs: the top 2 squads will get a bye and the next 4 squads will play in the quarter-finals for the last 2 spots in the semi-finals.

      And here we go...

      Featured Match of the Week ::::: HEAVY vs Quake :::::

      I agree. This is obviously the featured match of the week with the two best squads (record-wise...and probabaly playing-wise--yeah im going to do this post without an ounce of ego mostly because of last weekends ass raping) going head to head. Plus, occuring so late in the season, this could be a pivotal confidence maker or breaker for playoffs. Winner of this, like izor mentioned, is #1 seed. However I don't believe this is THAT important considering the top 4 squads have played generally close games among each other. And personally, I would rather not have a bye week so I could stay on top of my game. But hey these are shit talkers and bragginng rights are God damn important to them. After getting raped last sunday by HEAVY (which is our 1 true loss in my eyes [both other games losing by only 3]), I would say they probabaly have this one in the bag. Only problem is Quake is the best anti-rush squad, as they showed with a impressive hard-fought win over thunder (the other very good anti-rushers) from WAY behind. Though I strongly believe that Vash/guero arent great teamers, when they radar/stray their way to a combined 25+ kills in this game, people might once again value the old passive styles. Still, I see most of HEAVY's players doing their part. I hate to say it but izor/racka arent just hype. Apok is a force that can not be stopped...seriously, I think he is a top 15 wb of all time. Kthx on the other hand is the space filler and the player quake should look to exploit. Honestly, with the way annoyance plays you could try knocking him out fast too. Only problem there is if annoyance just happens to be on fire that day he'll get like 30 kills like he randomly does. But in the end, the patience factor along with Quake's FAR deeper lineup will earn (quick someone make a clever non-overused pun relating the word "earn" with ignite's monetary connations) them a tight win and continue undefeated.

      Final Score ::::: HEAVY 48 - Quake 50

      Dynasty vs Sweet :::::

      This misses the featured match of the week by a hair. Although the game above determines the #1 and #2 seeds, this will likely determine the #5 and #6 seeds (by the way, in all probabality, thunder is #3 and pirates are #4 if you were wondering the order). With sweet playing thunder but dynasty getting to play rape the last sunday of TWLD, this is a MUST win for sweet if they want to ensure a playoff position and deny sake a chance to sneak in (sake would have to beat BOTH pirates and quake to get in which is possible considering they are the previous twld champions...buuuuttt not probable). Everyone usually mentions Jones/caos of sweet and exalt/unabled of dynasty when talking about these two squads; however, who wins this game will depend on the unsung starters. Will it be saetep/dak/spaceship or weak/regen/kid kaos that will clutch it for their squads? We'll see. Personally, I have more faith in the rushers of this game, despite going with Quake before.

      Final Score ::::: Sweet 46 – Dynasty 50

      Disoblige vs Thunder :::::

      This is a pretty obvious outcome in thunder's favor, although I have a good amount of respect for diso's wbs based on seeing them win as underdogs over and over in previous seasons. I see no reason for thunder to screw around (not quite sure why you added fludd last weekend...sure he is a good looking guy but you dont see that superficial stuff getting that guy adriana lima is married to any playing time) and throw this match since they havent clinched playoffs yet either (if pirates end 6-3 and dynasty ends 5-4 then dyn has the head-to-head win) and then would possibly have to play a dangerous "win or go home" game vs sweet the last week and could easily end 5-4. I expect thunder to come out with guns blazin burnt strayin vitja eatin creature victory-in, super duper cereal. I also expect displaced (probabaly the most underrated wb in TW) to finally have a huge game and get 17 kills aka about half of diso's number.

      Final Score ::::: Thunder 50 - Disoblige 35

      WhiskeyJack vs Rape :::::

      No idea who anyone on whiskeyjack is. And I like rape a lot. Especially deliver. But especially safia :wub: hi facebook friend. Anyway, pretty sure rape's all out rush/regroup fast tactics will work splendidly on WJ who again, have maybe 3 people on their roster that I recognize. And since inexperience usually leads to solo straying, WJ will play perfectly into the strategy of rape...Unless of course anyone on WhiskeyJack has a forum account and reads this everything I just said is useless.

      Final Score ::::: Rape 50 - Whiskey Jack 28

      Sake vs Pirates :::::

      Sigh. After losing to all three other top tier squads during the regular season, Pirates have nothing that they can possibly prove until playoffs. I have lost a lot of faith in us. Vys, you play like a pussy vs good squads--not like yourself in TWDD's at all. Scoop, what happened to "I only got less than 10 kills once last season"? Plob#f you are supposed to be the ever consistent carrier...Anyways, playing the always dangerous defending champions ( \o/ thanks for winning me a LD title!!!) after a 2 week slump doesn't help. But I am somewhat comforted when i do ?find and I mostly see "Not online. Last seen more than 10 days ago." Nevertheless, this is quite an important game for Pirates who need to get our confidence and teaming together before playoffs begin. Also, if we win this, we erase any posibility of sake making playoffs as they sit in the 7th spot with a good enough record to slip in. So yeah, I would advise you get mega newbie, deluge, death row, and hell even delectable online but I won't (wait huh?) since I want to win.

      Final Score ::::: Pirates 50 - Sake 39

                  I bet Ignite will start auctioning the last playoff spot to make some of that money back that was given to Raspi as a bonus for yesterdays match.
