Thunder does it again - Real thread, for the real winners (and losers)

The future of Thunder isn't immediately clear, however it's looking bleak. I'm not particularly interested in playing another TWL, which is mostly the reason that Thunder probably won't be sticking around. While the squad name Thunder mostly brings to mind Underground, I feel that i contributed quite a bit this past season, especially with Underground missing in action. Running a squad takes a lot of dedication and time that I'm just not willing to put forth anymore. It was a blast though, and I can say that I've definitely learned from the best being in a squad with golden knight/anzu/underground and all. I really don't think that there's a better end either, fresh off a victory against the 'unbeatable' Quake. I've played TWL since season 5, I think it's time to move on. I've had a decent 'TWL' career and it feels quite nice to end it all in my original ship.

This is probably best for the zone anyway, we had quite a bit of players that were benching, and with Thunder biting the dust it will hopefully open the door to 3-4 new squads that will increase competition.

An extra note, for those of you wondering why someone else doesn't just step up and continue running the squad...you don't realize what a lazy bunch of fuckers the Thunder core is. Underground is definitely capable of continuing the squad by himself, however he is barely able to play 5 minutes a week because of medical school, so chances are that isn't going to work out. He's probably going to hate me too for making this post a bit early, before I have a chance to finish talking to him, but I'm certain the result would be the same.

It's been a pleasure squadding with the Thunder core and newbs (such as dald). I hope everyone at least respected Thunder and had no serious problems with the squad. Don't take this all the wrong way - I'm not quitting the game, I'm just not interested in playing competitively anymore.

From experience I know it's not difficult to get 50 people on a roster, however it's a crime finding a guy good enough to lead the squad, so your squad doesn't lose it's face as one of the few respectable squads in the game (for what it's worth in this community), plus stays good enough to compete for the twl-titles..
Thunder was one of the few squads who managed to be respectable/well liked plus one of the best, and that for consecutive years. If you're unable to find a new captain who can continue that tradition, and lack the dedication yourself, it's probably a wise choice to let go. Otherwise you'll just become the next Pallies/Disoblige (except that you guys were consistently way more successful in TWL).

ps. Last time Sk8 dissolved it kinda went like this tho, and within a week your entire old core ended up together again as Thunder. Same thing might easily happen again when someone like Burnt or w/e decides to start up his own squad again..

Haha, it IS uncanny about the Sk8 thing though, the only difference was Fludd's willingness to help start it up and lead it in our first season. That was really the catalyst for Thunder.

Rumor has it that Thunder is probably through, and the whole chat has been filled with talk about new squads, where people are going, and what people are doing. Bittersweet this all is. I'm proud of the past couple of years, and those that have stuck with this brotherhood through Thunder's past and even all the way back from Sk8.

Good game to the captains especially, you really held on to our core, and made this one of the least revolving door TWL squads of the season.

Fuck, even Eelam grew up and kept his mouth shut against opponents this season; big ups mate, you did us well. Oh well, I guess I have next season to look forward to, but with another squad

In regards to the Quake thread; I was talking to someone not on my squad, and we realized that people not on Thunder squad are celebrating more so than those on our squad. It's funny how things can bite you in the ass and be so demoralizing, when you pretty much criminalize your squad based on what you say and do here and in the game.

It was a pleasure to squad with you, and a privilege as well.
One of the coolest players on SS, along with the rest of the Thunder core.
Hope to squad with you, and any other squad core members in the future.
