  • Seasonal Format Explanation

    Hi,

I thought it might be useful to outline the seasonal format right now just in case you were wondering. Please note that the format for all three leagues is exactly the same.

There will be 10 regular season games followed by playoffs. The 10 regular season games will consist of playing each team in your own conference once and playing three non-conference games. The non-conference games will all happen first followed by the conference games.

The formula we choose for non-conference games is as follows:

    1 v 1,3,6
    2 v 2,4,5
    3 v 3,1,8
    4 v 4,2,7

    5 v 5,2,7
    6 v 6,1,8
    7 v 7,4,5
    8 v 8,3,6

What this means is the 1st ranked team in a conference will play the 1st, 3rd and 6th ranked team in the OTHER conference. The season was set up this way so that teams will play similarily ranked teams more. While we do not think it will make a big difference for who makes playoffs for the very top and very bottom, it leaves the middle ranked squads wide open to some real competition for playoff spots.

The conference rankings were simply evenly split from the original full league rankings done by a captain's poll as I have described before.

For the playoff games, the top 4 teams of each conference will make it for a total of 8 teams.

    Quarter Finals:
    West Conference:
    1) 1 v 4
    2) 2 v 3

    East Conference:
    3) 1 v 4
    4) 2 v 3

(meaning the first ranked team in each conference will play the 4th ranked team, while the 2nd ranked team will play the 3rd ranked team from their own conference)

    Semi-Finals:
    5) Winners of games 1 + 2 play eachother
    6) Winners of games 3 + 4 play eachother

    (aka conference finals)

    Finals:
    7) Winners of games 5 + 6 play eachother.

I hope this clears things up.
