Respect vs Impala: 50-41
I’m glad to say that Impala rebounded from a horrible performance last week to have a very good game. They were leading for most of the match until the most ridiculous things started occurring. It seemed like Cripple had a horseshoe up his ass this weekend. Here I was speccing different players to analyze their play style, and out of nowhere I see a Cripple off-screen bomb come and stray a 2fer. As much as this made me laugh, keep in mind that all round Cripple had been floating in the background and lobbing bombs through his teammate shield, less than three minutes later, he decided to take advantage of an enemy with no energy and chased him only to shoot an awful shot that missed him. But wait! This bomb which missed its intended target (who was literally 1 ship away), somehow bounced and hit a wall killing three opponents. In three minutes, Cripple managed to stray five kills. After this, Impala literally fell apart, choked (if you can even call the above choked), and lost the game. Hypocrit (2-9) let me down after his incredible performance last week and almost lost the game for Respect. Dreamwin (5-0) had a very clutch sub for him, and this arguably won them the match. Proximo (3-8), with his quick deaths was probably the biggest factor in Impala’s poor play. Sodly (5-10) also had a poor game, but I expect him to push it aside and bounce back in the following weeks. All in all, this game was pure insanity and Respect is lucky to have pulled away with the victory in the manner they have.
Boss vs Sage: 36-50
This was a strong showing from both teams. The game was relatively close from beginning to end. The final score would have been much closer if it wasn’t for Zizu (15-5). Zizu went on a killing rampage half way into the game and literally went from 3-3 to 14-4 in like five minutes. Not that he was overly aggressive or anything (as one would expect from such a spree), but his aim was impeccable. In that five minute span, I’d say he hit 80% of the shots he fired. Boss had reasonable performances from all five starters, as did Sage. Ultimately however, it was Zizu’s ‘great’ that stood out among the rest’s ‘good’ and brought this win home for Sage. I’ve got to say that up to this point in the season, Zizu has probably been my favourite player. I’m always excited to see what he has in store and if he can keep up his level of play; so far he has not let me down.
Thunder vs Mad: 48-50
Well, Thunder’s undefeated season came to an end with this devastating loss. Although both squads were lacking their starting line-up, Thunder had a very poor performance, especially in the closing minutes of the game. Some unfortunate TKs, along with bad teaming, were most probably the defining factors. Bhang (5-2) had a strong sub to finish off the game for Mad. Scoop (15-10) probably stood out most in Mad’s lineup making up for his poor play/decision-making in last week’s loss to Respect. Although on my screen alone I saw Scoop stray like three kills (from what others were saying, it was even more than this), I still have to give Scoop his props. Strays still count in the end, and his performance was undeniably what won it for Mad.
Shinobi vs Fatal: 50-41
No real big surprise here. Unfortunately I missed most of this game because I got caught up in the Rapid vs Dice game. What I did see however, was Kicker’s (0-4) awful start. Riverside. (3-6) tried to make up for it, but coming in cold, there was very little he could do. Chance (12-10) on the contrary had a good start but evidently it wasn’t enough. As for Shinobi, the typical players, Wax (12-10) and Tiduz (10-6) led the charge and brought home the victory. Dawk told me that Shinobi nearly choked and lost it in the end, but managed to pull through. I don’t really know much else to say as everything here went exactly as expected.
Dice vs Rapid: 50-36
I am surprised to say that Rapid actually made this game pretty interesting. I find it quite amusing how Rapid’s line has evolved throughout the season to what it has become today. It went from a line with some good potential to one where half of it doesn’t even belong. Nonetheless, I have been bashing Rapid almost every week since I started writing these things, but this week they actually deserve some respect. I am relieved to see that Golden_Aim (10-10) finally decided to play but this wakeup may be too little too late. Violence (3-8) and Arobas+ (4-10) conversely, decided to take his prior place with the low scores. On the other side, Dice was led by Mess (13-5) and Megaman89 (13-7). Following Thunder’s loss, Dice remains the sole undefeated squad in TWLJ. They seem pretty focused on getting back to the finals and challenging Thunder’s three year reign. Should be interesting to see how things unfold.
In summary:
Hot of the Week: Scoop, Zizu
Honourable Mention: Megaman89, Mess, Dreamwin, Bhang
Not of the Week: Proximo
Dishounarable Mention: Violence, Arobas+, Sodly, Kicker, Hypocrit
Until next week, stay classy Trench Wars.
