Heres a better way than letting all these squads into the playoff.

Have squads involved in the tie breaker dd each other sometime during the week, and have both squad captains inform staff that this is a tiebreaker game, set up some games that have to be played, consider not playing the game during the course of the week as breaking the activity rule and have them automatically forfeit to the squad they were supposed to play. Let staffers zone the dd as a tiebreaker for TWL playoff game, it would get people interested, people would come see the matches, and it wouldn't waste any extra time at all via an extra tournament week.

look, i know you hate reading so i'll break it down 5 sentences or less:

you're arguing it's unfair "80%" of LD squads make playoffs so use +/- to determine who gets in. im saying +/- isnt a very fair way to choose who's out. i can actually agree letting 8 out of the 11 original squads (come on, serenity basically made it to the end and they weren't in playoff contention anyway) in playoffs makes regular season somewhat useless, but it's the more fair way (imo). if there is another way, use it.

also, 6 out of 9 squads (that didnt drop out) are in LJ/LB playoffs, so having 8 out of 11 squads in LD is not that far off from the other 2 leagues

I'm not arguing that it's unfair that 8 squads get in, I'm arguing that it's incredibly stupid. I also think that the way it's being done for lj and lb is also stupid. How about you beat these squads in the regular season then you don't need to worry about these tiebreakers? I realize it doesn't apply to you squad, but it's just stupid. If you can't beat the other fringe squads, what gives you the right to play in the playoffs in the first place? PH used to preach that TWL was for the elite squads. Then he let everyone in it. Well at least let the playoffs be for the elite squads. The arguments for the NBA/NHL having half the league in the playoffs is bad as there is actually money involved in marketing/selling tickets/etc. I say 4, you say 8, we already know it's going to be 6.

At least having it based on +/- makes sense as opposed to the basis of nothing for adding everyone in. In your ridiculous scenario from before, my squad would still be in the playoffs based on +/- anyway. Fortunately, the point is to win the games. Using +/- would be a much better tiebreaker than simply letting more squads play. There's no logic there.

Oh wow I totally didn't think an undefeated squad would make playoffs! You have shed some light on me pascone thank you so very much. My point before (which I though was pretty fucking obvious) was that even though you have 2 wins more than Mad, your second best W:L ratio would make you second seed instead of first seed.

Also, there is no logic in how you say "the point is to win the games" yet still think +/- is the way to go. They are like two directly opposite ideas.
If winning is what matters, why would the margin you win or lose by matter? Similarly, if +/- is how to determine shit, you could probably lose every game 49-50 and make playoffs on +/-.

you don't seem to understand that +/- is indicitive of the talent of your squad. mad added their starters like every game besides the one vs sage, where they got rolled. we added players like skittle in games. we knew we'd make the playoffs, so we added people for fun. we don't care about seedings. why would we?

if you lost every game by 1 kill, then your squad is useless.

+/- is plenty fair. do better than 7-4 if you want to make the playoffs. win the games you're supposed to win.

(I was just looking at this from a philosophical point of view...)

But even within the concept of a 'win', we can find many dimensions.

I'll just simplify it:
A legit win = winning without the use of cheats
A non-legit win = winning with the use of cheats

The end result may be the same, but the essence of the victory can easily be lost. The degree of respect definitely varies with the outcome score.
