Quicksand 2 - Epidemic 1
This never was going to be a boring match. Well worth the 30 minute wait.
Round 1 50-48 QS
Kyou and Izor started off dominating for Quicksand early with 6-2 and 7-3, respectively. Guero was also on fire for Epidemic sporting a 10-5 early. The game never seemed to be separated by more than 5 kills, and the pace changed several times along with the lead. It seemed every time Quicksand was backing off, they were doing better and every time they started to try and force the advantage they would run into traps. For sure first blood was going to make the difference in this game, and it happened to be Guero, soon followed by pascone evening themselves out at 20-20. Quicksand is usually very good at finishing in these situations, but Epidemic wasnt done and soon Izor was outed at 8-10 after going 1-7 the back half of the game. a2m WAR and RaCKa soon followed to set up a 2v2 reminiscent of Burnt vs Apok last year, and Weak showed his warbird improvement by striking first 10 minutes in and taking out Mythril. delectable tried to lure a bad suicide in from Kyou some 30 seconds later, but he was going NOWHERE as Kyou polished him off to finish off his MVP performance for the round.
Round 2 50-45 Epidemic
Continuing right where round 1 left off, round 2 was full of changes of pace, but not so many changes in the lead. Quicksand carried the first part of this match and was up 33-28 at one point when their own arrogance started to get the better of them. Trying to bury Epi with too much pressure and running into easy bullets gave Epidemic the upper hand, and kid kaos and Izor dying out killed any chances QS had. Unlike their rivals the first round, the teaming from Epidemic was very good when they had the 5v4/3 advantage as the remaining players couldnt dodge that many bullets from the different angles Epidemic was coming from to close out the game.
Round 3 50-31 Quicksand
From out of nowhere, we have round 3. QS's birds rushed like they always do and took a good lead like in the first 2 rounds, except they never slowed down. Epidemic was completely overmatched, and had no idea what was going on. Kyou brought home the MVP with a 12-2 performance to cap off his day of work, and Weak’s (last?) day of work was just beginning as he showed up a couple hours late in the name of TWL victory.
Thunder 2 – Mad 0
I really thought mad had the advantage based on their line all week, but laggy players and another vys choke job closed the book on them here.
Round 1 50-29 Thunder
Unabled got off to a monster 8-2 start, but the rest of Mad’s horrible lineup was struggling badly, and they changed quickly from being the aggressors to being hunted down relentlessly by Thunder’s veteran wb’s. Unabled never stopped though, proving how one dimensional he is, and he ended the game on an 0-8 streak. This game wasn’t really noteworthy except vys’s usual semifinal choke job. This year he was 0-1 for the first 5 minutes of the game taking pictures of his team dying around him like Annoyance. He ended the round 9-10 and whined about his lackluster team for some reason, causing a rift between Mad which would ultimately lead to their undoing in round 2.
Round 2 50-43 Thunder
Vys seemed to be on a mission to prove to everyone that he doesn’t choke, but the sorry captaining of Mad was on more of a mission to give up the game, adding laggots who had no chance of staying in. To be fair, Deez Nuts is the type of talent that you cant bench even if he is going to lag out all 3 times, but scoop with his 700 ms certainly wasn’t going to do anything but waste a sub. And seriously…confluence? Did you guys want him to lose every league for you this year?
Hot Player of the Week - Kyou
This one is obvious, as Kyou delivered on his talk of ‘runnin thru some kids’ Whether or not his mom was ‘spammin him’ in round 2, the 15-9 and 12-2 were more than enough to get him mentioned in this column.
Runner up: Weak
Not Player of the week – Stylez
Not one of your better performances there, guy. 1-5 and 4-9 to combine for 5-14 over both rounds…im sure no one expected you to have a dominant outing filling in for a laggy scoop, but seriously tasty probably could have done a better job.
