Well it has come to this time of the year now, TWL finals are awaiting us and I'm sure everyone has their own favorites picked out to win the title in their respective leagues.
Let's start with my main league, TWLB:
Penetrate - Pandora
Penetrate:
Lineup: Cintra (terr), Veloce / Davy (sharks), Trasher, zhou, turmio, temporary, fit of rage (spiders)
Subs / Possible replacements: Minotar, menomena, acidbomber, royst (spiders) - El_Mariachi, duel pasta, Jeenyuss (sharks) - WingZero, fermata (terr)
Penetrate's key to success is their players willingness to team and sacrifice themselves for others in order to win their games.
An all-season strong terr in the name of Cintra, a good shark pair and a strong spiderteam with good backup possibilities should make them the prime title candidates for this league.
However, this season they also showed they can have off-days too, by losing to Freebie in regular season already. All starters better be sharp for the finals, else this might turn out wrong for pene in the end.
Pandora:
Lineup: tim (terr), vatican assassin / menelvagor (sharks), dsin, leitz, diakka, I>$B, zung (spiders)
Subs / Possible replacements: renzi, sarger, squallff8, evul, hellkite, melanoma, rucci, shayde (spiders) - mythril, machine of god, hellkite (sharks) - diakka, oderus urungus (terr)
Pandora has had their ups and downs this season so far, winning big games vs. Dice and losing vs. squads like Sage and Penetrate in regular season. This final could go either way for them, if they show strong and if everybody does what they're best at, they should be able to pull through in these finals. After seasons of not making it to finals or ending up losing them, this should be their prime shot at getting it right this time and coming home with the TWLB title in the end.
Main focus for Pandora has been their terr this season, with tim's recent form and activity this can be a deciding factor in what can be named as 'Battle of the terrs and underspiders' in my eyes.
Summary: Favorite to win: Penetrate - Underdogs: Pandora
I think this final will come down to the most important key to winning in their flagroom battles; keeping underflag.
Both teams have strong underflag spiders and if you compare the rest of their teams it's about even, great quality and reliable terrs and dominating sharks and spiders.
I'm hoping to see some interesting and intense flagroom battles this sunday, where it all comes down to which terr can stay alive the longest and who can keep underflag theirs.
Prediction: As much as I'd like to award this title to Pandora, because they have come so close to winning it before, and because Vatican Assassin deserves respect for trying every season again, I think Penetrate will win this in the end.
You can't overlook their strong teaming factor, their solid play throughout the season and some of their players have it in them to be deciding factors in the outcome of the game.
Anyway, good luck to both squads!
TWLJ: Sk8 vs. Dice
Sk8:
Lineup: Ease, turban, Fludd, Rednaz, Raples
Subs/Possible replacements: TiduZ, struck, scoop, tiny, cuji, fizzy, mjollnir, necromotic.
Looking at regular season stats, Sk8 has done even better than Dice has. 7-0 so far, and they won all their matches by working together, not by doing very impressive things, but it worked for them so far. Most of the time, when one of them has had an off-day and went negative, someone else was there to pick up the pace. Congrats to Ease for making it to another TWLJ final, I don't think many people expected sk8 to pull through this season, looking at the fierce competition (hah) and dark going for solo TWLJ dominance. If everyone shows this sunday, does their part, and doesn't go wondering off alone and do stupid things, they have a good shot at grabbing the title here.
Dice:
Lineup: Megaman89, FieryFire, EvilDeed, Mess, Maketso
Subs/Possible replacements: Stayon (could start if his lag is good), Hurricane (wtf start showing already), euforia, havok, revered.
Well, clear favorites to win this one obviously. Basically the same bunch of guys for years now, solid teaming, and good individual skills that can decide the match in Dice's favor. However, their play/results haven't always been that convincing during this season, and if you look at their regular season form, Sk8 has the better stats to show. In their showdown during regular season vs. Sk8 they (surprisingly) lost to a strong and better teaming Sk8. Could have had something to do with the fact Paradise was in though. You should be looking at the individual skills of EvilDeed, MM89 and Maketso in these finals, which can be deciding factors here if they are having a good day.
Summary: Favorite to win: Dice - Underdogs: Sk8
This will probably come down to the battle of the captains, who can be the deciding factor in the final outcome of the game? I think first round will be really close, with dice pulling it off in the end. Sk8 will then recover and grab 2nd, so a 3rd round will be needed to decide who takes the crown this year. Everyone better show and bring their A-game, because if any squad has missing links this sunday it could be crucial to win the title or not.
Prediction: You can't deny the quality of Dice's lineup, however, sk8 has people who can decide games too, like Ease, turban and Fludd, who has seemed to regained his skills seeing his recent form in playoffs. Dice wins 2-1.
Good luck and make it worth watching for us spectators!
