Game of the Week:
Sage vs Sweet: 50-24
MVP: Children
Waven asked me yesterday how awkward it would be writing this part of the article, and more specifically, interviewing Children this week. I have to say, it was indeed very awkward. Regardless, I could sit here coming up with excuses as to how lucky Sage was this week, and make Inaphyt’s day in the process, but really there is no point. Sage had a great game this week and their teaming was quite overwhelming. Led by Children’s (16-5) onslaught, Sage took control of the game early and never looked back. Sweet played awful from beginning to end. We were definitely getting pushed around, rushing solo into retarded situations, and bombing like Necromotics. Let’s see what MVP Children has to say on his team’s outstanding game:
Marge> How did it feel beating the soon to be TWLJ champions?
Children> ?
Children> It felt really good to beat you guys, we had good teaming mad shoutouts to muhboys atm
Marge> Would you say that individually this was one of ur best performances in TWLJ ever?
Children> ?
Children> ive done this many times big foig.. was rockin jammies at knee lvl entire match
Marge> Starting the season strong, and with two easy opponents coming up, Sage is on track to a 5-0 start. Do you think that confidence will be enough to help you beat the likes of Thunder and Dice?
Children> ?
Children> why you still talking like sage a bad team? HOOOOOOLY ANGELINAAAAAAA JOOOOOLIE
Children> it seriously would not matter if we played thunder or dice next week
Children> id like to take this time to do a QUICK shoutout to MUUUH BOYS paradise zidane rend zath vamp mm89 flared
Children> mad shoutouts to them atm
Marge> Once I convince all my players to reinstall SS, you will suffer come playoff time. You scared?
Children> ?
Children> 1) Marge> next week Sage will be tested to see if they will be a contender in LJ -- (50-24) 2) want me to call muh surri boiz to come ahhh smashhh u aahhh
Children> pz aaaat ..come at me bro ~ regards
I did mention Sage would be tested this week, and they responded. Well, looking at the score, I guess it wasn’t really much of a test. That being said, they have proven their worth this season, and playoffs have just become a little more interesting. As for Sweet, one can only hope we can learn from this rape and bounce back with a vengeance. Until then, may god be with us.
Hit vs Penetrate: 50-36
MVP: Bender Rodriguez
Hit has finally won their first game of the season, and they did so against a struggling Penetrate line. Bender Rodriguez (13-8) continues to be consistent and, without question, Hit’s best jav this season. Despite Sika’s absence, this Hit line seemed to work much better together, and definitely has the potential for some more wins this season. Let’s see what Paradise has to say on his TWLJ debut:
Marge> Today was your first win of the season, congrats! Can you tell us what you think was different today in comparison to your first two weeks?
paradise> I played.
Marge> It is no secret that I have been very critical of Heisman and his decision-making as of late. I’d like to hear an insider voice...so do you feel Heisman is to be blamed for last week’s disappointing loss?
paradise> Pretty much a group effort collapse on occasions. But this week we played better. Although womping pene isn't much, hopefully its something for us.
paradise> also please let zhou know, whether he or veloce played, neither of them would have won them the game. please stop thinking this.
Marge> I will tell them that the difference in the game was without question that you played...not that either of them played.
Marge> Anyways, I have noticed that Hit has had some difficulty getting its starting line together this season. Will this be the story throughout? And what impact do you think this will have on your chances to make the playoffs?
paradise> As far as TWLJ goes, you can expect us all to be here. I'm finishing up finals and will be nerding out on ss to start off my summer. Expect us to pick it up from now on. I'm eager for next week.
Marge> The Heisman and Paradise combo is indeed quite threatening!
paradise> heisman paradise combo...? we don't even play the same ship.
paradise> would like to give a MAD SHOUTOUT to muh boys: Chengman, KevJumba, Sxephil, and the rest. Want me to call my surrey boys come SMASH YOU UH
paradise> and HOOOLYYY ANGELINA JOOOOOOOOOOLIE.
paradise> OH SHIT BRAD PITT
I have no idea what this Angelina Jolie bit is, but I don’t like it. Moving on to Penetrate. It has become the norm for the majority of this squad to have mediocre performances every game. I guess it’s good that most of these players are consistent. However, without question, the one disappointment this season for Penetrate has been Riksa (3-10). Despite being one of their better javs, he seems to be struggling to get his groove on. I do hope he picks it up so that Penetrate can have the chance of winning at least one game this season. Until then, it seems Reaver must do all the heavy lifting.
Dice vs Disoblige: 50-40
MVP: Stayon
There is no doubt that this game was much closer than it should have been. Not to take anything away from Disoblige’s javs, but for a second straight week, we see the additions of inactive players having disastrous consequences. Da1andonly (3-10) and Dazzal (2-6) are definitely out of tune in this league. Yet somehow, Disoblige managed to keep this game extraordinarily close until the final minutes. Part of that blame can go to Necromotic (0-5) for continuing his 1-5 average this season. Stayon (14-8) did play well, and Euforia managed to stay in game one death away from elimination for what seemed like an eternity, but ultimately Dice really seemed shaky this week. However, I don’t think too much should be taken out of this since all great teams have their bad weeks. Like Thunder, they will definitely bounce back and regain their dominant status. In a post-game interview, Megaman89 reflects on the season:
Marge> Despite being off to a 3-0 start this season, Dice looked a little shaky today. Any reasons why?
megaman89> yes we had 2 azns in (necro and waven)
Marge> Necromotic seems to be on an unending streak of 1-5s/0-5s...should we expect to see him play many more games?
megaman89> i'll let him play vs shitty squads like sweet or something unless I axe him be4 then
Marge> Being the captain of Dice for the last four years, seeing yourself fail again and again come playoff time, do you believe this season will be any different, and why?
megaman89> would like to point out my squad fails not me, and with competetion like sweet, etc, it should be a breeze to get to the finals again
megaman89> also i have a new pre-wo supp i will take during playoffs, will be unstoppable
Marge> Wish those supplements would work in the game, because with players like Flared, Infrared, and Necromotic, may god help you.
megaman89> you realize eelam is on your squad, you the 1 that needs god's help
Marge> Speaking of, it seems next week, you will be playing Sweet. Can we have some predictions?
megaman89> if our non azns and non euros' show, should be ez
Marge> Don't really know how someone who benches 145 pounds can be so confident in life...
megaman89> Who the fuk do u think ur talking to? renzi?
The irony is, if you saw real life pictures, Megaman and Renzi are basically identical twins...
Paladen vs Dynasty: 50-38
MVP: Via
As predicted, the Via (15-7) and Rendered (11-7) combo has come together quite well, giving Paladen their first win of the season. It definitely seems like this week is proving what squads are made of and creating some substantial changes in the power rankings. I knew Paladen would eventually move up the ladder as this new line came together, but I didn’t really expect them to toy with Dynasty so easily. Regardless, Paladen deserves their props for this win, and I look forward to what else they can do this season. For the first time this season, I decided to go crazy and interview two people instead of one, let’s see how this went:
Marge> Congratulations on your first win of the season today. How do you guys feel?
via> Its nice to have a victory, obviously. This line weeks to work really well together.
ReNdErED> u wunt 2 answir dis via?
via> I dont really know english, so its difficult to make answers.
Marge> A few weeks ago Via, you told me you were worried about what Rendered brought to this squad...do you still feel the same way?
via> Yes.
via> Heclearly has no respect for his teammates bombing Tomas hack at the end of the game.
ReNdErED> I wud lik 2 say y u vsn me?
Marge> How about you Rendered? Do you believe that this new Rendered-Via combo will be deadly or just another "Inflared"?
ReNdErED> Killer.
Marge> What strategy did you guys pursue today to overcome Dynasty's assault?
via> Are you trying to figure out our secret battle plans?
ReNdErED> y u vsn us
via> in chat
via> seemed to work well
via> No
Marge> ...wtf are you talking about?
via> We just try to team together, and theres no reason to discredit Tomas, Murder or The Kn|ght for this win. We tried to team and stay alive and we did
ReNdErED> ^
via> Dynasty didnt'. Tomas said something about doing a Flying V dunno if he was serious
Marge> Thank you guys, it's clear that Via wears the pants in this relationship as he answers all the questions. I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry.
via> can I do a shoutout? to my friends, Frank, Jack and Turtle?
ReNdErED> SHOUTOUT TO MUHHH BOY ZATH/CHILDREN/ZIDANE.. fuk u slum for pming me 'die'
via> SLUM WE CUMIN FOR U FGT 0-10
via> jkjk he'll be on bench
Quite romantic. Moving on, Dynasty once again seems to be dragged down by the high expectations they have placed on old veterans who are now inactive. Dragonscale (4-10) for a second straight week played very poorly. Furthermore, Get Shit On (0-3) was unable to climb out of his disappointing funk. To summarize, Dynasty has been on a consistent decline this season, and without some major changes, I can’t see a different story in their near future.
Thunder vs Fierce: 50-35
MVP: Ease
Obviously, I was unable to watch this game since I was busy getting my ass handed to me in the other arena, but being the good writer that I am, I spoke to Rendered and got the scoop. Apparently, Fierce was leading until Havok and Spirit choked on their powerful starts. Evildeed (11-7) and Turban (10-9) had outstanding comebacks to finish the game. Ease (12-7) and Struck (11-7) also had good games, breaking out of their slumps. Given Dice’s poor performance this week, I really thought Thunder would finally reclaim their number one spot in the Power Rankings, but they too were shaky this week. However, I’d still say it’s not long before this happens. Does long-time captain Ease feel the same way?
Marge> After a poor start to the season against Hit, do you believe Thunder is back up to par following the last two wins?
Ease> yeah, but even if we weren't it wouldn't matter
Ease> since everyone else is so terribly bad
Ease> the teaming was still lacking that game though, saw rule pushing us around
Marge> It's ok, we had "Children" pushing us around.
Ease> lol, it's hard to tell which is worse
Marge> With two easy opponents coming up (Penetrate/Dynasty), can we hope to see a little more of Struck?
Ease> saving struck for the playoffs
Ease> think we're going to use him to embarrass dice again
Ease> you should probably interview someone else though, its boring to talk about twlj
Ease> since we've already won
Ease> tell flared to go ahead and give us the medals
Ease> could play while taking a nap and mega would still go 3-10
Marge> Well probably...I mean for yet another season you have the benefit of being carried by jav superstars Exquisite and Fludd...
Ease> fludd can't even perform with his girlfriend watching him play....i'd hate to see what it's like in real life
Ease> looking forward to more of fludd's 4-8 clutch playoff performances
Marge> Given that Thunder has like 20 different javs...has it been set in your mind yet as to what this squad's top line should be?
Ease> in my eyes we only have about 7-8 javs, everyone else i wouldn't start in lj unless i was incredibly drunk
Ease> but yeah getting near a top line
Marge> Can we hear it?
Ease> i'd rather not make rough cry again, poor guy is still logging on and spamming "tomas hakke......"
It seems Fierce, and Apok (4-10) more specifically, finally fell off cloud-9 after last week’s incredible performance. Of all players on this squad, Rule (6-10) has probably had the most disappointing season thus far. One of their most active javs, it was predicted that he’d have a big role for Fierce this season, yet he seems to have fallen into this “mediocre” trap with no signs of escape. Nonetheless, Fierce may be down, but not out. As the rankings below indicate, the 5th-8th spots seem to be unpredictable as of current. Consequently, to maintain their position, it is essential for these key Fierce players to step up and carry the Apoks, not the other way around.
Power Rankings – Week 3
1. Dice (1) – Despite their shaky game against Disoblige, Thunder was also shaky this week.
2. Thunder (2) – They had an opportunity to reclaim the number one spot this week, but they failed.
3. Sage (4) – For obvious reasons.
4. Sweet (3) – Read above. May god help us.
5. Disoblige (6) – For keeping the game close with a bad line against a good Dice line.
6. Fierce (5) – Tough decisions for the 5-8th spots, could really go either way.
7. Hit (8) – First win of the season, let’s see if they can keep it up.
8. Paladen (9) – Although they beat Dynasty, they still have a lot to prove before I can move them further.
9. Dynasty (7) – They just keep on dropping.
10. Penetrate (10) – Still the worst team in the league in my opinion.
