  • TWLD Season 15 Week 4 Hot or Not: A Day Late, A Dollar Short.

Busy day after TWL yesterday, and I just didn't have the time to do this. Seeing how nobody else stepped up in my place, however, I guess I can do a writeup now.

    Epidemic vs. hit
    41 - 50
    MVP: Paky Dude

I had no idea I could just copy/paste the score in from the TWL website and have it look so close to the original like that. Pretty fucking cool!

Anyhow, the first game of the week had hit taking on Epidemic in a match that, depending on who showed for each side, could have been a total blowout or the closest game so far in TWL. It was neither, though, as hit beat Epidemic in what was, apart from Paky Dude making it interesting, a boring game. And made it interesting, he did. He was, at one point, 17-3, and he was the only reason Epidemic stood a chance. It's rare to see someone just straight up hero a game like this and succeed, though, and the combined efforts of siaxis, Rednaz and raidar were more than enough to put a stop to him. With the win, hit is now 3-1 and, assuming they win what they're expected to win from here on out, they should be one of the 6 in the playoffs this season.

Fierce vs. Sweet (Game of the Week)
    50 - 43
    MVP: DEEZ NUTS

The second game this week wasn't really as close as the score makes it out to be, but it was still the best game of the week to watch. Fierce, at 3-0, were looking to remain undefeated while Sweet, having just won their first game, are almost fighting just to make the playoffs now. And losing to Fierce doesn't help them there at all, as they're stuck in the 1-3 pack now along with 3 other squads as Fierce beats them by 7. DEEZ NUTS had a big week, dropping 14 in wb as well as 15 in jav, leading his team to wins in both leagues. scoop and Geio also came up big for Fierce in their win. Jones and Dak had the only positive scores for Sweet in the loss, but the story for them continues to be Engineers, as he has done nothing against the squads where Sweet could really use his ability. 5 games left, man. Time for you to step up.

    ASIANS vs. Penetrate
    32 - 50
    MVP: Rasaq

Game 3 this week featured ASIANS looking for their first win taking on a Penetrate looking to rebound from a tough Week 3 loss. And rebound, they did, cruising their way to a 50-32 victory. Rasaq, who got called out by me big time last week, apparently isn't scared of TWL this week, dropping 14 to pick up the MVP. Sir Spider and Trasher were right behind him, picking up 13 and 11 kills respectively. Cash.Monay and qpr picked up 8 kills a piece for ASIANS, as they remain winless for this season. No MITB this week for Asians, but I'm not sure how much that would have helped against the DX machine who are looking to squeeze into the playoffs, and a couple more wins could help them get it done.

    Paladen vs. dicE
    28 - 50
    MVP: Weak

The fourth match of the week saw dicE end Paladen. Okay, not really end, end. But end as in... well, end. Bear with me here, I'm not even sure where I'm going with that. It was a fairly balanced attack for dicE, though, as Weak led the way for them with 13 kills on their way to a 50-28 victory. infrared and a2m picked up some good numbers as well. Let's talk about a2m for a second. He's played for dice 3 out of 4 weeks now, while racking up 31 kills and 11 deaths. Just shy of a Kill to Death ratio of 3. Ridiculous. On the Paladen side... really nothing notable to report. A lack of Claushouse online at all, but again, I don't think the difference would have been anything to report on.

    DyNasty vs. Thunder
    38 - 50
    MVP: Ease

Ease. That's how Thunder won. With ease. They beat Dynasty by 12, but even so, Dynasty put up a better fight than some certainly expected them to, I'm sure. Demonic and Let put up a combined 25 kills to give their team a fighting chance. A bit of a letdown when the rest of your team combines for just 13, though. For Thunder, Ease left a big stinky 18 on Dynasty's doorstep, rang the bell, and dove into the bushes just in time to see Cross, Kentaro, Mastersword and Sphinktor step into it simultaneously. That's a pretty effective summary of the game right there. I guess I could also say that chuckle put up 10.

Hot of the Week: Ease (18-7)
Honorable mentions: DEEZ NUTS (14-10 in wb, 15-4 in jav), Paky Dude (18-10), siaxis/raidar (15-8/14-7), Rasaq (14-7), Weak (13-6)

Of course it's Ease. He had some good competition this week, though, but nothing that really stands up to what he did. And, really, is this anything special coming from Ease? No, definitely not. But it's still impressive. And still fun to watch him work his magic. I'll mention here that he was actually 13-0 to start his round. Then Cres unleashed his revenge and trolled him via Steam chat. Did that make a difference? Dunno, but I'm gonna go ahead and say a 5-7 finish is better than a 1-7 finish. Sorry, Paky.

Not of the Week: Engineers (1-6)
Dishonorable mentions: The 3-10 club (Misled, Duclover), Cres (this guy ever going + in TWL? guy can't even get + in spider in LB, evildeeding HoN), anyone on DyNasty not named Demonic, Let or Keith.

4 weeks in, and this is the first time I'm singling any one player out as the Not of the Week. Really, Engineers? I'm tired of callin you out bro, come on, let's get it together. Prove to me you can perform against a squad that isn't winless in TWL.

    Week 5 features

    dicE vs Sweet
    Fierce vs Penetrate
    DyNasty vs hit
    ASIANS vs Epidemic
    Paladen vs Thunder

    Good luck to all teams!
