Who made it to the playoffs? Who gets sent packing? All this and more is determined today, as it's the final week of the TWLD regular season, and 3 out of 5 matches have potential playoff implications, with another one determining the #1 overall seed. So, if you couldn't tell already, this week is huge for a ton of reasons. That said, let's take a look at how things went.
Thunder vs. Fierce
50 - 37
MVP: Mythril!
A possible look at the TWLD Finals kicks off the final week of TWLD Season 15, as Thunder and Fierce square off. Fierce looks to stay undefeated in this, while Thunder, with a win, would take the #1 seed and, with a loss, will probably have to play an extra playoff game. Some interesting playing choices from Fierce and a beastly game from Mythril gave Thunder a 13 point win today. Mythril put up 15 kills and led the way for Thunder to end Fierce's undefeated run before the playoffs. Ease also put up 11 kills for Thunder. For Fierce, DEEZ NUTS and scoop put up the big scores, while Apok and Rule, with their 3-10 and 4-10, pretty much tanked it for Fierce today. Regardless, with Thunder's win, both teams now get a week off. Maybe that was the plan all along...

Sweet vs. Paladen
50 - 35
MVP: Jones!
So, it's Week 9. Sweet is taking on Paladen. If you had told me at the beginning of the season that Sweet was going to need a win and help to actually make the playoffs at this point, I would have probably laughed you off whatever form of chat you were telling me this on. But that's reality, folks. Paladen could knock Sweet out of any playoff chances with a win. Sweet, however, isn't going down without a fight, as they beat Paladen 50-35 today. Jones continues to play at a ridiculous level, as he put up another 16 kills in a dominating effort where none of his teammates even had double digit kills. jaa and shock were the high scorers for Paladen, putting up 9 kills each. With the win, Sweet now needs either a Hit or DyNasty loss to make the playoffs. In the interview below, I tried to get some comments from Riverside and ultimately failed, while jaa pretty much pushed me into interviewing him. The results of that endeavour are below.

dicE vs. Tenure
50 - 44
MVP: royst!
What a game this turned out to be. In a back and forth match where the results didn't matter, Tenure almost pulled off a huge upset, but came up short in the end because of some solid endgame play from megaman89 as Dice takes this game 50-44. Royst, for Tenure, takes the overall MVP with a 15 kill performance but, despite solid performances from the rest of his team, ended up being outgunned by Weak's 14 and megaman89's 13 in the end. With the victory, dicE is 7-2 and firmly in control of the #3 seed in the playoffs. With the loss, Tenure ends their brief stint in TWL with a winless record, but they put up some good fights week in and week out. Thank you for not being Epidemic!
hit vs. ASIANS
26 - 50
MVP: qpr!
The first of two important Week 9 games to take place simultaneously was hit taking on ASIANS, with the winner making the playoffs and the loser going home. Hit spent their time well before the game, practicing and warming up for this, but the lack of a time extension and lag issues alone shouldn't be enough to appeal the shellacking they got from ASIANS, as they took this one 50-26. Recently unfairly banned from the forums qpr got a bit of retaliation in today, picking up 16 kills in a huge MVP performance for ASIANS, with MITB putting up 10 alongside him. Nobody cracked into double digits for hit, with S.ika coming closest wih 8 kills. A dominating win for ASIANS this week as they'll try to make their mark next week as they face Dice.

Penetrate vs. DyNasty
50 - 36
MVP: Cres!
I don't know how much of it anyone reading this saw, but as a member of Penetrate, I got a bunch of people from various squads asking me if I was going to throw this game... as well as bribes in the form of pub bucks from people on Sweet telling me to -not- throw the game. Anyhow, I play legit, folks, and while I remained intentionally ambiguous regarding that situation, on Sunday, we came to play, and we came to win. And win Penetrate did, taking the match 50-36. Believe it or not, it was Cres who led the way for Penetrate today, as he put up 12 kills in an MVP grabbing effort, with Minotar and Sir Spider putting up double digits right behind him. A good effort from DyNasty, though, who, despite claiming to us earlier that they wouldn't be able to show 5, did so anyhow and still lost, with Demonic picking up 11 kills as their only positive score of the game. With the win, Penetrate eliminates DyNasty from playoff contention and also secures the #4 seed for themselves. Congrats to all my DX friends, we proved all these people wrong...

Let's face it. This could have gone to any of these guys. Huge performances to get wins, but one win mattered above all the others today, and that was qpr's awesome performance to help ASIANS make the playoffs. Could they have done it without him? Maybe, maybe not, but he was the difference maker, no doubt about it.
Not of the Week: Lorko (0-6, subbed out)
Dishonorable Mentions: Apok (3-10), Rule (4-10), Duclover (1-4, subbed out),
All issues and lagouts aside, this is less about Lorko's performance personally and more about the decision making of Hit to leave someone like that in the game for as long as he was in. It wasn't the biggest thing that cost them a chance at making the playoffs, but certainly a faster sub could have been beneficial for them here, and that's the way it goes.
