Kinda like what I did before, but without the extra week to think about it.
Both of these games are going 3 rounds. Yeah, I said that about last week, but realistically, both of these matches are closer than last week's in terms of overall starpower.
Fierce vs. dicE
Round 1: 50 - 45 dicE
Round 2: 50 - 40 Fierce
Round 3: 50 - 45 Fierce
Why Fierce wins this overall: They're the defending champs. Are they absolutely worthy of that title? Sure they are. Sk8 didn't have the depth to win another title without Ease leading them last year, and Fierce did what any other team would have done or tried to do: Capitalize on it. As much as it kinda irritates and pisses me off, the reality is that, for the last few seasons, it has basically been the same people squaring off in the finals, and I don't see any reason why Fierce wouldn't fulfill their half of that again this year. No other teams in the league have been able to match what they've brought to the table this year in WB... except Thunder, who beat them in Week 9. Plus, look at it this way: The TWL statistics list 7 people playing WB for Fierce in the season. And going 8-1 in the regular season while barely scratching the surface of your TWL roster is something. For Dice? 12.
Why dicE takes a round and makes this interesting: Depth, mainly. Last week against Asians, well, they handled themselves fine, but did so without a2m available to them, and he has had one of the more exciting seasons of any individual player this year. And, let's face it, Unabled has a much better line with him in this rematch from last year's semis, where Fierce took over after Savanger eked out a Round 1 victory. I would expect a repeat of that here, except this will be a much closer, more enjoyable game to watch, for sure.
Thunder vs. Sweet (Game of the Week)
50 - 42 Thunder
50 - 46 Sweet
50 - 44 Thunder
Why Thunder wins this game overall: Depth, actually... which, incidentally, was Sk8's downfall in the finals last year. Ease went out and grabbed some new faces for his band of misfits this year in an effort to prevent another disaster from happening, the most notable of which is Mythril, who has put up an 11 kill average in 6 appearances for Thunder this season. Combine that with a legion of faces that have become synonymous with Thunder and Sk8 over the past few seasons and voila. It should lead them to victory... but...
Why Sweet takes a round, makes this interesting, and has the potential to pull off a spectacular upset: Sweet seems to be the perennial runner-up squad of TWL nowadays. With losses in both the quarters and semi finals over the last couple seasons, Riverside has gone all out in saying that this is Sweet's year. Could he be right on that? It's certainly a possibility, but it's going to rest solely on how well he can get the for sure Season MVP Jones and newcomer Engineers to work in what could very well be the Match of the Season overall. Both teams are a long ways out from their Week 1 matchup, which Thunder took by 11, and Jones has put up consistently amazing numbers while Engineers had a rough start but has settled into his role on Sweet nicely in the last few weeks. This one should be close enough for both sides that a big game from anyone could make the difference, and I wouldn't count out somebody on Sweet from doing it.
Good luck to all teams involved. Hopefully I won't have to arena hop too much for HoN.
