The first week of preseason for season 16 of TWL is scheduled to start on January 22nd. TWL qualification cutoff will be on the 15th at midnight EST. There are a few reasons I chose these dates. First of all, there needs to be another reset before qualifications. If we started any earlier there wouldn't be enough time for squads to get in enough games and get in to a qualifying position. The TWD reset will be soon but the exact date is not set yet. I'll let you know once we figure that out. Also, I think we can all agree that having several weeks off for the holidays is a pain so I'd like to start after they are over. Then there's the NFL season. I believe the Super Bowl is scheduled for February 5th so there won't be much overlap between TWL and NFL games. And yes, TWL will be canceled on that weekend. Hopefully we will be able to finish the season before final exams start but that will depend on the number of teams that qualify. I'll need to wait and see how many active squads we have in each league before deciding what the numbers will be.
I've also decided to make a few notable rule changes for this season:
Roster Limits
First of all, with the new TWD roster limit I feel there's no need to enforce another limit on TWL rosters - so all squads, regardless of how many leagues they qualify for, will be allowed up to 35 players.
Lock Dates
Also, rather than having soft and hard lock on week 1 and 3, they will be postponed until weeks 2 and 4, respectively. In addition, there will be a change to the rules of soft lock. Players will not be considered to be under soft lock if they are on a TWL roster but have not been added in any games. By this I mean that if you are on a TWL roster after soft lock has occurred but have not seen any play time you will be eligible to join a different TWL squad so long as hard lock has not passed. This will need to be done manually on the website so it will require contacting a TWL op.
Also, another important addition that I think will benefit everyone is the introduction of League Referees. For this season we are going to try allowing non-staffers to host/ref the TWL games. All the refs will be trained in by me and the other TWL ops. Refs will be required to show each week and host a few games. If you're interested in helping out contact me in game. It's really easy to host the games and the more help we can get the better.
The TWL ops this year will be myself, Aura, stark, and the_paul.
