Season 16 Qualifications and Important Dates

I've talked to the other TWL ops and we've decided to have this season qualify 8 squads in each league. I know this is less than usual but there aren't as many competitive squads as we've had in previous years. With that in mind, I've also decided to make the playoffs qualify 6 squads for each league. I realize that 6 is a big number when only 8 teams are involved but I feel like having only 4 teams would just be too short of a post-season. Anyways, here is a list of important dates for the season:

TWL Qualifications Cutoff - Sunday, January 15th at 11:59pm EST
Preaseason Week 1 - January 22nd
Preaseason Week 2 - January 29th
TWL Cancelled for Super Bowl - February 5th
Regular Season Week 1 - February 12th
Soft Lock (Week 2) - February 19th at 5:30pm EST
Hard Lock (Week 4) - March 4th at 5:30pm EST
Last week of regular season - March 25th
Replay Week - April 1st
TWL Quarter-Finals - April 8th
TWL Semi-Finals - April 15th
TWL Finals - April 22nd

The playoff structure will be the same as last year. The top 2 seeds will receive a first round bye and play the winners of the 3 seed vs. 6 seed and 4 seed vs. 5 seed games. The only two breaks in the season will be for the Super Bowl and for a replay week at the end of the regular season. Also note that stark and Aura have been added as TWL ops to help out me, paul, and MM. Also remember to check out the soft/hard lock rule updates in the TWL Season 16 thread if you haven't already.

I know you said you realize that 6/8 is a big number but.. that sorta takes away from the playoffs. What is the point of the regular season of six of the squads go on to play in the playoffs anyways. I would rather have a short playoff (semi's and finals) than have the third worst squad competing in the playoffs when they didn't deserve it. On top of that, there could easily be 10 squads from DD going, I wouldn't rip off some squads that have a chance to win a few games in TWLD because TWLB doesn't have the playerbase to support the same amount of squads. I am not sure about TWLJ, a jav would have to tell me if they could support 10 as well.

I would hope you guys would reconsider these things if the playerbase agrees with me on them.

I agree on most things with u flared, yet only 8 qualify from each league? We got currently 19 teams competing in TWDD, 18 in TWJD and 16 in TWBD. I think it's fair that half the teams, especially in dd and jd, get the opportunity to compete in TWL, don't u think? And the numbers decreased from 21 cause Lasenza dissolved Camaris (wow, saw that one coming) and Biet dissolved Exanimus, but the rest still plays a lot, so 10 is a valid border for dd and jd qualification. BD isn't as hot this time as it was last time, but still: give as much ppl the chance to play TWL as possible, they will gather valuable experience from this and be more confident about having a chance to qualify for this elite league. This just my humble thoughts.

why do we even have to "qualify" for TWL anymore? if this zone is dying why not let all active squads play in each twl and the ones who are good will obviously make playoffs, PLAYOFFS R WHAT U NEED TO QUALIFY FOR, NOT TWL

??? LD could easily field 12 squads. People are going to have to move around and find their homes for TWL but heres 12 squads that can make it all season IMO

Not all of those squads are going to be good or even competitive, but why shrink the league when more people probably want to play it...LD should expand and I think a lot of people would agree with that.

Also to that newbie above me if 5 make playoffs and #1 seed has the bye when do they play? Finals?
