I'm back to deliver your weekly dose of Hot or Not goodness. Let's get it started.
Round 1
Real vs. Potenza
50 - 30
MVP: Mythril!
Round 1 of the rematch from the LJ slaughtering of Potenza by Real ends... well, nearly the same way, as Real delivers a stout 20 point victory to jump out to a 1-0 lead in this Best Of 3. Jones (10-1) came close in his bid for an ace, but got jinxed mid-round by a friend in spec.
On top of all that, Mythril (14-8) and Weaver (13-7) rounded out the game with some high scores, and they just made Potenza look silly. Not that it would have made a giant difference in this one, but why sub okyo (3-6) out when qpr (3-6 to 4-10) was at the same deaths and is a weaker bird? Seems kinda silly, if you ask me. Rookie mistakes from a rookie TWLD squadron, maybe.
Round 2
Real vs. Potenza
50 - 32
MVP: scoop!
Real advances to the semi-finals incredibly easily, finishing their 4 rounds of blowouts against Potenza with an 18 point stomping. The strong Round 1 from Jones turned into more of an assist round than anything (5-10), as he let the rest of his team take point and unleash hell. And they did, with scoop (14-4) and avaruus "that's not sika LOL you guys are dumb" alus (13-5) bringing guns to this proverbial knife fight. Iron Survivor (10-10) showed the best play for Potenza in Round 2, but this one was almost over before it started. Good luck next year Potenza, and good luck next week, Real, as you face Thunder. But who will have the dubious distinction of playing Fierce? Read on and find out!
TL;DR qpr gets manhandled by Mythril in Round 1 while Jones stands back and watches.
Round 1
Penetrate vs. hit
50 - 46
MVP: Ricko!
Due to unforeseen things, I left in the middle of Round 1 and missed a fair bit of excitement, apparently. However, I will do my best! The closest of all 3 rounds sees Penetrate squeak by for a Round 1 win, making my bad predictions for the LD playoffs seem that much worse. A (14-9) Ricko-led Penetrate is actually kinda viable, it seems, as he and chuckle stayed alive until the end to put golden duck and the rest of hit down and take a 1-0 lead. Despite solid scores from the aforementioned golden duck (13-10) and an excellent sub by Keith (10-6), it appears that hit may be in over its head a bit. But something didn't happen this round. The beast wasn't unleashed.
Round 2
Penetrate vs. hit
44 - 50
MVP: LaSenza!
Cue the unleashing of the beast, and his/her wrath laid down upon Penetrate, as hit fires back to tie this thing up 1 round a piece. LaSenza (17-8) laid down the law, while Keith (11-8) had another solid round behind him, easily making up for Welt (2-8, subbed out), who probably realized the room his computer was in actually has walls surrounding it. Good efforts from Casket (12-10) and chuckle (11-10) were not enough to quench the beast's appetite, and thus we enter Round 3, where it's winner take all.
Round 3
Penetrate vs. hit
50 - 37
MVP: Ricko!
Being a beast has its disadvantanges, apparently, as LaSenza (5-10) was the first (!) of many to fall to Penetrate in their sweeping Round 3 victory by 13. Keith (5-10) went down rather quickly afterwards, and it was game over from there. Penetrate's only Round 3 casuality, Spaceship (7-10) went down shortly before round's end, so good job at keeping yourselves alive. Split honors for this round would have to go to Ricko (13-8) for another playoff MVP and Peru (12-9) for actually lasting more than 4 minutes. Honorable shoutout to chuckle (10-5) as well for doing stuff. So that's that. Penetrate advances, and I made a Hitler video featuring zhou rage over Raazi, Rasaq and Guero leaving... for NOTHING. (for reference: this) Thanks a lot, jerkasses on Hit! You were supposed to be the chosen ones! Leading me into prosperity! Instead? A bitter despair. Naw, who am I kidding? Congrats Pene on proving me wrong, and the best of luck to you all next week against Fierce.
TL;DR Ricko isn't about to fall for LaSenza's "tricks" again.
Hot of the Week: Ricko! (Double MVP performance)
Honorable mentions: LaSenza's beastly 17 kill MVP, scoop dropping a 14 spot on Potenza
Ricko and I, we go way back. We're part of an illustrious TWL club. The 0-6 club. To see a member climb up from the depths and put on a show like this? It just brings a tear to my ahnis. Well played, old chap. Well played.
Not of the Week: Nessy and sulfur's entrance into the 0-4 club
Dishonorable Mentions: Welt's miserable Round 2 performance, Biet and Harder's almost entrance into the 0-4 club
Round 1 against Penetrate was close. Very close. So close, in fact, that Penetrate only won it by 4. Why is this important? Look up, read again, and do the math. Not one, but TWO 0-4s for hit in that round. Not hard to figure out.
The Semifinals are coming up next week. Here's how the action will go down.
Thunder vs Real
Fierce vs Penetrate
See you all in the Trenches!
