shit this is a cool idea.

i didn't see if anyone else picked it up after i read it so maybe this has been discussed already. anyway, i think that this would serve as a way better introduction to the game. maybe create 3-4 squads with a couple dedicated people running each (they could be staff - this would serve as a brilliant intro to how to get involved with tw). if one squad gets saturated, create a new one, and keep going. it would require a certain selflessness for the captains but what the fuck else are you going to do in the offseason? ah yes i think this might only be applicable then. i also disagree with the removal of leagues - competition, and more importantly tradition, are pretty fun.

I think most players who participate in twd/twl are attracted to this game because of their competitive nature.. twd/twl has a lot of similarities to major sports leagues and without twd/twl there is almost no competitive aspect to this game.
The game may be "outdated" to some extent but I think there would be a lot of players if people had heard of SubSpace Continuum in the first place (Advertising team, I'm looking at you guys). Then some of those new players could stay long enough to be considered old eventually.

Newbies will find no difficulty getting into a squad.
