TWLB Hot or Not -- Week 4

    Revenge vs. Penetrate
    15:00-7:36

    =========================

Revenge continued its unabashed supremacy over LB this week, leaving its opposition feeling like Mickey Rourke's face. hellkite (102-50), glavitik (81-61), squall (82-54), M_M God (81-42) and Skatarius (65-52) went full-throttle and dominated the boards, swept through the Flag Room like a plague, and crushed a seemingly helpless Penetrate in both the cram and the mid.

Led by their two starting sharks, Menelvagor (with a deceptive 2.3 RPD - he played great) and Cranium (2.9 RPD), I can only imagine this game looked like a Kafkaesque nightmare of hopelessness through Cintra's (40-5) eyes as his squad bafflingly left him undermanned without Acidbomber controlling the under -- and benching Solace and Trasher -- only subbing Solace in when it was already too late (for temporary.)

With only 2 of their starting 5 spiders in, it made for a relatively easy time for Pressure (50-3) making his debut, playing a solid positional game, as Revenge continues to win despite rotating through 3 terrs in 4 weeks as they remain undefeated -- leaving us wondering who they'll play next.

royst (88-71) led the disheartened opposition, without his usual pushing partner Solace (43-27) for most of the game, as Blahhy. (78-62), zhou (69-52), Minotar (82-58) looked mostly passive and listless, despite the benefit of Veloce (2.8 RPD) and fermata (2.8 RPD) in front of them.

While the result won't have any bearing on the playoffs, it is certainly a vote of confidence for red-hot Revenge, as they look more-and-more like they could sweep the regular season and have a perfect season.

HOT: Revenge's 5 spiders, effortlessly rampaging through both over and under
NOT: Penetrate's spiders, who were passive, and didn't push 'til Solacer was added (too little, too late)

    Spastic vs. Dudgeon
    15:00-9:34
    Upset of the Week

This was a fun match to watch, as a Mikkizless Dudgeon found itself at the mercy of underdog Spastic.

In TWLB HoN Week 3, I wrote this:

Which proved to be rather prescient, as Dudgeon was forced to terr its best spider, Dreamwin (38-10), who got hit with a dose of cold water for the Iceman Cometh in the form of Pure_Luck (39-5, 1 tek), who was absolutely stellar all game, leading a revamped spider line of JAMAL, who had a ridiculous 138 kills when no other player in the game hit 100, with recent welcome additions RUCCI (99-42) and poxy (75-56) beefing up their roster with solid play. Sprained (59-46) and CJW (54-69) rounded-out the group that was sharked by Grand Guerrero (2.7 RPD, 2 teks) and Eria, with a very nice 3.1 RPD and 3 teks!!

The game was tight until the 9-9 mark when Spastic pulled away, as the game started with a Peter North-long FR battle led by Zizzo (87-60, 3 teks), nicholas (75-60), Micke (76-67), gilder (60-45), and maketso (85-55).

Gilder and Micke actually played quite nicely under, winning the majority of their battles, but JAMAL/RUCCI/POXY crushed over into a powder so fine you could snort it, leading to many a tek over the subdued Finnish side.

Pardon (2.8 RPD) and Sakke (2.8 RPD) sharked respectably, but it wasn't enough to contain JAMAL's dominant performance.

HOT: Pure_Luck's fantastic terring performance, surviving/porting all over the place, good use of bursts
HOT: JAMAL, with an absurd 138-54 performance, more than CJW and Sprained combined
NOT: Dudgeon's overspids, dreamwin getting outterred by PL. Only bright spot was their underspiding, which is like saying you have Cancer in the lungs and the brain, but at least not in the heart

    Pandora vs. Sage

    15:00-12:54
    Match of the Week

I think this is the third time in as many weeks Sage is part of the closest game on Sunday, and the third time they fail to win. Despite earning 54 out of maximum 60 minutes in the last four weeks, the basing giant is an abysmal 1-3, on pace to limp into the playoffs in 6th place, although limp may be too generous a term for lurching in past Raid, Spastic, and Dudgeon-- assuming they even manage that.

Like the Cobra game several weeks ago, the main storyline was terring, as an unyielding Cape (43-5, 3 teks) eluded death despite Sage winning more FR battles, whilst a disappeared zizu (?find Zizu, last seen 7 days ago) was replaced by euforia (32-10, 0 teks), who played decent overall, and did all that could have been asked of him getting thrown into a match vs. a top LB squadron, but succumbed to a few too many unforced errors.

Zidane (3.1 RPD, 2 teks) and mcvicar (3.0 RPD) seemed unphased by the absence of Mattey, playing a strong game ahead of Leitz (117-64), sarger (103-73), Spezza (103-55), diakka (99-67) and Kate Upton (90-71), who played an aggressive, pushing game to notch the win.

They took aim against OGRON (101-64), kess (100-67), NL>Trigger (97-68), Gazo (89-70) and superstar-PROkiller (84-78), who also managed well without TABARNAKK!!!, as a2m (2.8 RPD) and Major Crisis (2.7 RPD, 1 tek) led the charge for Sage.

The game was razor tight, with Sage and Pandora trading multiple leads back and forth behind riveting and hard-fought FR battles, but ultimately faltered near the end as Pandora pulled away late off a well-aimed Cape burst achieving the final tek.

Pandora, despite a hiccup vs. Revenge early in the season, seems to be steadying the ship as they move to 3-1 and the initial concern of inactivity seems to have been rectified. Sage, meanwhile, seems to have caught the disease (despite Panda playing Kate Upton over Linsey Lohan), as more and more players slip through the cracks and become inactive.

HOT: Cape, 43-5 with 3 teks and keeping Pandora in the fight despite intense pressure, with clutch bursts and warps and Matrix-like dodging
NOT: Sage's inactive captains: Zizu no-show leaving them with no terr, setting time to which Tab couldn't show, not keeping squad active or showing any signs of life

    Cobra vs. Sweet
    15:00-12:09

Another exciting game, pitting undefeated Cobra-kai against LF's Sweet. Chief Utsav (43-4, 2 teks) continues to be a relevation for Cobra, as his insanely strong play, despite a 2-year absence from the game and being a late roster addition, is quickly becoming the lynch-pin of this outfit-- which, being named sweet-- i assume is a short, slutty skirt under which Cripples steroid-shrunken balls do not protrude from.

Burnt (31-7, 1 tek), seems to be straining under the pressure of more apt opponents, despite a red-hot TWLB start in his first two games, with both Mikkiz and Chief getting the better of him, although still playing well.

Dwopple is a fucking beast. This is a general statement that applies to every game he's in, and despite a 2.3 RPD (oddly low like mene's, despite great play from both, dunno if its accurate or bot-error), led Oder (3.1 RPD) into his first LB outing this season (and possibly ever.)

necromotic (105-74) continues to put up numbers, followed by infrared (95-70) who has been performing above expectations, the always-excellent Renzi (80-62), Murder (94-54) and flared (79-40).

For its part, the Sweetums factory produced a monster performance from Cripple (132-66), that unfortunately (for them) couldn't be replicated by sphinx (102-60), megaman (97-62), zeebu (74-60) or Engineers (74-60), putting an end to Sweet's loss-less streak, and no doubt dampening the spirits of hulk (2.9 RPD) and Eelam (2.8 RPD).

Cobra, once again deficient of any weak links, pushing hard in the FR, and doing just enough to get the W. We'll see whether or not they can keep up that pace vs. opponents like Penetrate or Revenge, but so far, so good!

HOT: Chief Utsav, 43-4 with 2 teks, infusing Cobra with a much needed spine (trolls have scoliosis )
NOT: megaman89 -- MM89 is one of the best spiders alive, too good to be getting outkilled by necro and sphinx in a tight game and not hitting 100, need a bigger carry from him

HOT Player(s) of the Week: Cape, Chief Utsav, and Pure_Luck, each carrying their teams with great terrier performances in tight games, proving that a capable ship 5 can indeed be the difference, moreso than any other ship, in shifting the tides of battle

    Next Week:

Round 5 will see Cobra pushed to the brink, as they look to remain undefeated against a Mercury Rising Pandora (Children being the down-syndrome child in the movie; Zidane is Bruce Willis keeping him alive).

Penetrate will look to bounce back from their poor outing this week vs. Sweet, who also suffered a set-back, while Raid returns from their off-week to face Spastic -- the only game on their schedule they have a chance of winning. Hopefully they'll play real ships this time.

Finally, Sage looks to lose to Revenge by 1 to 3 minutes, and continue their excellent streak of not-winning-but-almost, and recounting the tale to their friends like some sad Varsity football player who can't let the past go about "almost" having won the High School championship 15 years ago.

It's a bot error. Never had any 2 rep deaths that match. I think my lagout/sub-out/sub-in caused the error.

Yeah dwop that definitely makes more sense, was wondering why the RPD was so low. Wish they'd put in twd bot functionality in TWL
