Due to my obligations to school, extracurricular activities, as well as my utter apathy towards this season due to certain....factors, I cannot be consistent with these write-ups. If anyone has a particular inclination to review TWLJ each week, feel free to do so. I missed all of the games so this is solely based off of stats, my perception of player abilities, and player commentary on individual games.
Game of the Week
Pandora v. Cobra
50-45
Pandora: Ease, Children, EvilDeed, Rough, Amputate
Cobra: Turban, Infrared, Flared, Cross, lz
Game of the Week usually indicates a close game or a game of certain magnitude. I lament at the fact that Pandora has been a constant in the Game of the Week all four rounds of the season thus far. From what I was told this was yet again another struggle for Pandora as they saw themselves down 32-38 against a completely capable Cobra. Amputate, despite contributing to 4 of Ease's deaths, managed to stay even-keeled at 7-8. EvilDeed and Ease followed suit with 8-9 and 9-9 respectively. Rough head-banded with a 16-9 which is apropos as he worries constantly about the outlook of Pandora's TWLJ chances. Zidane could have done the squad a favor and played for Children who zoomed around aimlessly for an early departure from the game (per usual) and an 8-10. The avid hashtag user is proving himself to be more of a lethargic panda than a "fearless wolf." His aggressive play style is proving to be erratic and utterly useless.
On the flip side, Cobra, as I was told, played a solid game despite turban netting a 3-10. MHz led the way, covering for an ailing Cross (0-4) with a 12-6. Lz managed to net 10 kills as Flared and Infrared had off games, 8-10 and 7-10 respectively. I can only imagine that these Gunmin were impeded by their lack of playtime in TWJD. Otherwise this LJ could have easily gone the other way.
Hot: Rough with a headband of 16-9
Not: Turban with the ultimate nail in the coffin for Cobra, 3-10.
Raid v. Dudgeon
46-50
Raid: Bill C, Reaver, dald, Nowyoudie, Roiwerk
Dudgeon: Sakke, Zizzo, nicholas, dreamwin, maketso
At the outset, I knew Dudgeon would upset a top-tiered squad in TWLJ but I was not sure which one. As fate would have it, Raid was the recipient of, what I can only assume, dreamwin's utter dominance with a 15-10. From what I have seen, dreamwin has the uncanny ability to be aggressive to the right extent, a skill that Children purports to have but in reality falls utterly short of possessing. Maketso backed dreamwin up with a solid 12-10 as Zizzo and Sakke lobbed their bullets and bombs. Reaver unfortunately fell short of his usual solid javelin play with a 5-10. I can only imagine that his record was a byproduct of an off-day combined with the lack of support that Roiwerk brings in a team setting. dald and NYD did what they could to keep Raid in the game but with your marquis player having an off-day, it is hard to perform with Dudgeon's surprisingly good teaming.
Hot: dreamwin 15-10.
Not: Reaver 5-10. Don't expect play like this from Reaver in the future.
On another note, vys and Best were not available for comment after both a TWLD and a TWLJ loss. After typing out a novel worthy of Tom Clancy's signature in TWJD on how I am a horrible player and how they are superior, they once again failed to meet up to their inflated assessment of their abilities. Ricko'd.
Sage v. unicorns!
50-46
Sage: kess, Kawrae, Da1andonly, a2m, euforia
unicorns!: Andy Steel, sieni, Taxitoflag, trouble, xanth
Sage and unicorns! engaged in a surprisingly close game that saw Sage reaffirm their existence in TWL despite an early departure by Stayon. Da1 led the way with a nostalgic 13-6, taking us back to the days when Disoblige was alive and kicking. a2m showed his veteran presence with a 12-10 despite Andy Steel's best efforts with a 15-10. Both Andy and trouble (12-10) had to do their best to cover for a 2-10 and 3-10 by sieni and TaxiToFlag. I would have loved to see via play this game as he could have easily swung the end result in unicorns!'s (that is a plural nightmare) favor. It is good to see Sage still participating in TWL this season as they have more than capable enough javelins to possibly make some moves in the playoffs.
Hot: Da1andonly 13-6
Not: sieni 2-10
Sixies v. Sweet
22-50
Sixies: BBQ MEAT TRAIN, Lorko, Slum, Dominatorious, Blinding
Sweet: Hulk, megaman89, Eelam, Eric Clapton, Vitja
After barely losing week one to Pandora, I was excited to see if Sixies could make a run at the playoffs. Needless to say, this is unlikely to happen. In probably the biggest victory thus far in TWLJ, Sweet absolutely demolished Sixies. Lorko backed his way into an 0-7, while Blinding and Slum followed suit with 2-10 and 5-10 respectively. BBQ MEAT TRAIN tried his best to keep his squad in play but was left with an 8-10 and an axe. Sweet on the other hand looked great. Hulk, showing his versatility, tied Eric Clapton with the most kills while megaman and Eelam hit cruise control and allowed Vitja to shake off some of his rust. All in all, Sweet's LJ line is looking pretty well-rounded. With Marge in place for Hulk, Sweet can easily see themselves deep into the playoffs.
Hot: Eric Clapton. 12-3 and an MVP. (That rhymes if you say it out loud).
Not: Lorko 0-7.
Fierce v. Potenza
50-30
Fierce: 24, arsen, revered, Singer, Tiny
Potenza: forces, Iron Survivor, Luger, resurrected, WinterFell
Potenza deviated from their typical additions of qpr and okyo today which netted them no different of a result as Fierce was their competitor. Tiny, in search for internet glory, headbanded against Potenza to a 16-9. 24, Fierce's local ventrilo coordinator, aided with his 12-7 as revered and Singer were assigned to clean-up duty. Arsen was given some pity time against Potenza as Potenza collectively put up little resistance. With the biggest collection of tools, who happen to be complete tryhards (see: Ventrilo for Continuum), Fierce has been utterly demolishing their opponents. Though their competition has been anything but great, they are my favorite to win TWLJ unless Pandora makes some good decisions.
Hot:.....Tiny 16-9 and an MVP.
Not: All of Potenza.
Once again guys I troll in these write-ups for flavor. Nothing is personal.
