Unused items on TWL Website

I was wondering if this was due to not enough staff, or possibly no one to head it up, but I was wondering about a few features that are not currently or even in the past few years used or anywhere close to current.

• Hot or Not on the TWL website? We have weekly posters, why can we not get this put on website?
• All Star Teams / Voting etc etc
• TWL History is incorrect and has many people missing from the rosters
• TWL Hall of fame / As well as being out of date and not showing Dice as the winningest team of all time, the inductions and what not? Can think of a handful of players that should be in it.
• TWD stats on TWL games. I thought this was a priority a year or two ago.

You can troll me all you want, but I know I wont be in it, but someone has to get the ball rolling. There's atleast 5 or so Dice members that should be in the Hall of fame. How can you not be if you are the best squad of all time in TWL? This is just one of the overlooked aspects that makes this game good and would love to help be a part of. It's the little things (No pun intended) that make it seem more appealing. I can think of maybe 5-10 people that should be in this.

What difference does it make if the HoN is on forums or on the TWL site itself? I have no idea if it works or not but TWL Ops have an option to add HoNs to the site with a few simple clicks, could just take the ones from forums and paste them on site I guess. Would probably be the only way claushouse will get his name on the TWL site. Then again knowing our websites as well as I do the shit is probably broken should probably just have the tab removed entirely.

I had a plan for the all-stars this season but the powers that be thought that humid would be a good choice to run twl this year (Great choice!). As for voting, that would always be terribly biased and a popularity contest sooooo don't hold your breath.

It could be a case of mistaken identity but if my memory serves me correctly evildeed was the one to create/compile the TWL history and hall of fame. Given the fact that he has only played TW for like 4-5 years and doesn't actually know any of the people he inducted I'd say its actually pretty accurate. Sure it could be better but you'd have to get the information from the very few people left from those days that still play the game who in all likelihood have very little to contribute. I do agree though that before each season at least 1 person should be inducted to the HoF.

I know shit about coding so Im not sure the amount of work that would be required to integrate the TWD stats into TWL. I know arobas could do it but doesnt play anymore, beyond that there are no capable web coders (that are trustworthy) in TW. We could task it to 24 I guess and expect results sometime in the next 8-10 years

We may have recently recruited an able coder, but would need to convince him to do this stuff, Ill do what i can with him, but no promises and I wont ask him to do things he really doesnt want to do

And when I say recruited an able coder, I just mean we recently got a player who can do website coding into staff, and trying to get him into Dev

I promised a lot when I was developing the TWL website, accepted so much work that I didn’t finish some of the things I had promised apart from TWLM. The combination of the work load and my sudden lack of empathy for playing made me quit developing. So as the last person that I know of who worked on the twl website I will give you some input as to my knowledge of the situation.

Hot Or Not – Would be so easy to implement this but I believe it is already in place and working? Write articles in TWL admin section. Never tested it because it was never something I ever looked at. So I think it just needs a TWL admin to put up the articles?
All star teams/voting – Something I also didn’t go near. I was under the impression it was already working?

As you will see player names are clickable showing a players results broken down. You can also choose any season and league to search for that players other stats. My plan was to link it up with TWLM hence the Player Graph(not completed). Once I finished developing it, it would have replaced the History page. And then I would have gone through the TWL website and everywhere a username was, I would make the player name a link to their profile. If you want to see the stats for a player, find out their TWD user ID, found in the link of their TWD profile and put into the link of this replacing the Z variable currently 18546: http://twl.trenchwars.org/?x=pp&z=18546&s=12&l=1 (18546 = player Id of me.)

However, Ease helped me notice that there are a lot of stats that are missing. For some reason they have just been deleted from the TWL website. I don’t know why but they existed at one point because Anzu who ran TWLM a few seasons ago has the data duplicated, so thankfully, these results are not all completely lost. It will just take a very long time to go through every season and work out what is missing and if it can be retrieved.

TWL Hall of fame – A page I never liked. It seemed more about opinions and at one point there was a council who decided which players got through or something? I was going to replace this page with a medals/achievements page. One of my projects was to overhaul the current medal system and apply it to TWD as well as TWL. I quit and didn’t hear the outcome of that proposal. So I didn’t do a lot work on this section as I never got the go ahead.

TWD Stats on TWL Games – I was told that this was already recorded. I looked into it months before TWL started as I believed it wasn’t being saved. TWL website has its own stats tables. There is no section for these new stats in it that I could see. TWL Seasons 6 to 11 used tables in TWD and TWL. When Arobas programmed these new stats into the TWD website the tables were TWD tables and a TWL bot didn’t post the match results to these tables.

Since TWL season 12 onwards, TWL bots save stats to TWL tables that no longer links to any TWD tables so it’s a lot tidier. Because I was working as web dev, and not bot dev, I passed on the message to Ease (who I was reporting to at the time) that the the bots would need work in order for new stats to be stored. No TWL tables even existed for these stats. I believed The TWL bots needed modifying so they posted these stats to TWL tables. The response I received was that the bots did not need work but it was a web dev issue. So I checked the existing TWD tables and could find no evidence of this looking through the last TWL seasons matches. I could find no link what so ever. I didn’t have access to bot dev, and already had plenty on my plate at the time, so the most I could do was pass on the message again that the TWL bots need to post to TWL tables similar to what the TWD bots do and I made a ticket on twcore In October for Bot Developers to look into. I told Ease that if it was not picked up, I would request access to bots and do it myself but I quit before this. In November whilst I was MIA Ease made a similar ticket to have this looked into. I have just checked these tickets and both still seem open and no change. (Which means nothing has been done). In summary, I don’t think the stats are being recorded and the bots still need work just to post the data to TWL tables.

As for TWL All-Star game, should have like 3 respected veterans from each league pick like 1-4 people from each squad (or most squads), but split it and make an East vs. West Conference type all-star game.

So, for example, say you have Royst/Mattey/Glavitik picking for LB, the two All-star teams are split into East (#1, #4, #5, #8) and West (#2, #3, #6, #7) and exclude 9th (Raid).

They pick (around) 4 players from every team, maybe skew it a bit towards whoever played higher, so it would look something like this:

East (Revenge, Cobra, Sage, Dudgeon):

Terrs (2)- Mikkiz (Dudgeon), Chief Utsav (Cobra)

Sharks (4)- Dwopple (Cobra), a2m (Sage), cranium (Revenge), TABARNAK!!! (Sage)

Spiders (10)- Zizzo (Dudgeon), Dreamwin (Dudgeon), MM_God (Revenge), Renzi (Cobra), NL>Trigger (Sage), Glavitik (Revenge), SquallFF8 (Revenge), necromotic (Cobra), kess (Sage), hellkite (Revenge)


West (Penetrate, Pandora, Sweet, Spastic):

Terrs (2)- Cintra (Penetrate), Cape (Pandora)

The list doesn't have to be perfect, it's just for fun anyway, but representing most (if not all) of the squads with people in it and pitting East vs. West is a good way to get people interested and watching.
