TWLB HOT or NOT -- WEEK 7

    Penetrate vs. Dudgeon
    15:00-11:00

Like Week 4, where Cape, Pure_Luck, and Chiev Utsav nabbed 3 of the 4 HoN MVPs, this was the Week of the Terr.

Cintra (66-4, 2 teks), who started off shaky with a few questionable deaths, giving Dudgeon the lead, sobered up faster than a Republican on a gay cruise, erecting an unassailable 500bty to keep Penetrate in the game as it headed into the 20th minute tied 10-10, as a riveting FlagRoom battle ensued.

The ship 5 mainstay then notched a superb tek against Mikkiz (37-7, 2 teks), no easy feat given the Dudgeon terrier's pedigree, giving Krage (3.0 RPD, 1 tek) and Fermata (2.7 RPD) the chance to close down the cram for several minutes with some excellent timing.

Bringing the fight to the two-time champs were strong spidering performances from Dreamwin (106-69) and Zizzo (102-89), followed my mediocre, albeit pushy and selfless, performances by Sakke (69-69) and Melanoma (69-77), while gilder (73-47), always strong under, struggled at times to match veteran Acidbomber (99-39) blow-for-blow. nokkonen (2.8 RPD) and Pardon (2.8 RPD) were serviceable in shark, but spectators felt the Pene sharks got the better of them overall.

Leading the favorites was the juggernaut Solace (102-49) and Penetrate staple Trasher (104-45), alongside Minotar (101-70) -- who hadn't seen action in awhile -- and finally fit of rage (82-64) being given some play-time as Royst surveyed the action from spec.

Dudgeon played great overall, despite dreamwin uselessly javing himself multiple times (why, for the love of god, WHY!), and made a final push at 14:55, making a valiant final stand, but the basing giant was just too much. Good game!

HOT: Cintra, with a monster performance matching the killcount of several enemy spiders, and helping avoid a potentially embarrassing upset with phenomenal play after a rocky start
NOT: Melanoma/Sakke, negging and 30 kills behind Zizzo/Dreamwin -- need to be more selective about when to push

    Sage vs. Spastic
    15:00-12:46

Another tense and exciting match, featuring another stellar terr performance, as a roster-depleted Sage managed to muster up 8 players at the last moment (Zizu showing up for the first time in two weeks 4 minutes into adding, and Whimp for the first time since January 10th) to face-off against Spastic, a squad which had a better turnout but was missing some key players as well.

Nevertheless, this made for a tight game, as Zizu danced and weaved like the days of old, keeping the FR battle alive despite some sloppy play and hard pushing by Spastic, notching an impressive 50-5 with 4 teks.

Ogron (109-52), Da1andonly (104-60) and Kawrae (98-61) led the charge over, behind superstar-PROkiller (3.0 RPD -- obviously a typo) and Zyclon (3.0 RPD), while a stunned Spikey, who left to make time with a girl for 5 minutes before the game, returned to find his spot taken by Whimp (84-52) making his LB debut under, and getting benched (ie, relegated to cheerleader), as he formed a Siegfried to NL>Trigger (104-60)'s Roy.

The ambiguously gay duo matched wits with CJW (91-89) and SPRAINED (96-70) under, who played well and were aggressive as both squads traded leads multiple times, with Spastic notching an early 9-6 lead behind solid sharking from JAMAL (2.9 RPD) and Gran Guerrero (2.9 RPD).

The majority of the game was spent in the FR as heated salvo's were exchanged both over and under, with Sage finally regaining a 12-11 lead, and eventually closing them out with a cram that was bursting at the seams with strong Spastic pressure behind Pure_Luck (36-10).

HOT: Zizu, with a red-hot 50-5 and multiple teks, and some great dodging/warping to give Sage a chance to win
NOT: The thought of Spikey in a cheerleader outfit. Thought Spastic played solid, hard to single anyone out.

    Cobra vs. Raid
    15:00-11:48

One of the big talking points this Sunday was this game, news quickly spreading that Raid was beating Cobra, as the Cobra-kai were down two men.

The retard ship brigade apparently had a 10-6 lead at one point, led by a great 47-7, 1 tek performance by Reaver in terr, behind Bill C and dsb in shark.

You'd have thought you were witnessing the War of the Roses as the Lancasters were routing the Yorkist...err, Cobramin forces in ship 7, with Nowyoudie (95-58) notching bot mvp, leading Shock Therapy (78-97), william wallis (60-55), Stylez (53-48) and vys -- the lone spider (Varys?) -- going 54-56.

Cobra managed to rally, however, as flared (38-10, 1 tek) quarter-backed the linguistically-challenged side, managing to muster up two more soldiers during the course of the intensely close game and clinching the victory.

saetep (107-51, 4 teks!!) stepped up in a huge way in spider, alongside the always-solid turban (105-53), followed by torcher (98-65), infrared (64-24), and Cross (53-28). WAR (2.8 RPD) made his season debut in shark, pairing up with the ever-versatile Murder (2.8 RPD and a nice 28 kills).

As if this close result wasn't enough of a spectacle, Dudgeon are contesting the match in a bid for the playoffs, citing the regulation that squadrons that are unable to field at least 7 players in an LB match at the start are subject to automatic forfeit.

A shocking initial lead! A scintillating comeback! Post-match drama! Throw Cross in a wig and you've got a TLC reality series in the making.

HOT: saetep, 107-51, with a showstopping 4 teks
HOT: Reaver, 47-7, 1 tek, a massive amount of kills while fielding a joke line vs. a superior opponent and managed less deaths than the enemy terr -- not an easy feat, even with the early-man advantage

NOT: Cobra's captains. Only managing to field 6 players vs. the worst squad in LB despite a full roster? Get your shit together. Even Sage and Sweet managed to muster 8.

    Revenge vs. Sweet
    15:00-5:42

Revenge hammered home their sixth win in a row, looking almost certain to close out the regular season with a perfect score.

Alterra (Hydride) returned to terring duties with an excellent 22-1, 1 tek performance, seeming to feel more-and-more comfortable in the driver's seat (he'd had some shaky starts before recovering mid-game earlier in the season), notching his 3rd win with little fanfare, although a clutch port from a javbomb and a few nice dodges were in order late in the game as Sweet applied heavy pressure.

This was a complete blowout, despite Sweet notching a few minutes at the end, with Revenge in complete control as per usual, as SquallFF8 (76-32) notched the bot-mvp, usurping a 50-4 M_M God performance in spider by changing him into jav (23-11) for a 73-15 total. Mean Gene (69-32) notched a nice pair of teks, while glavitik (43-15) kindly subbed out for Rodney (42-25) to let him in on the action.

Cig (2.9) and hellkite (2.9 RPD, 2 teks) sharked for the homeside against Sweet's Riverside (2.7 RPD) and hulk (2.9 RPD). Burnt took up terring duties in their first post-dice match, while Eelam, Engineers, Ra, Zeebu, and Marge received the same painful treatment at the hands of Revenge that Sage and Penetrate suffered earlier.

    Can anyone stop Revenge?

HOT: M_M God, a red-hot 22-0 start leading to 50-4 in spider, making it look easy
NOT: The sharking was pretty solid on both sides, so... Sweet's spiders? Hard to really knock them, though, when every other squad's suffered the same fate.

HOT Player of the Week: Cintra, with a ridiculous 66-4 with 2 teks, stopping a surging Dudgeon cold and likely being the only thing standing between Dudgeon and a playoff spot right now.

In a week where Zizu (50-5, 4 teks), Reaver (47-7, 1 tek), and Alterra (21-1, 1 tek) put on great terr performances, Cintra stood out above the rest with a mesmerizing 500bty marathon comeback. Kudos!

    Next Week:

With 9 squads in LB against LD's 12, the TWLB schedule begins to wind down and become more sparse, with only two games on tap.

Spastic turns 50 next Sunday, with Revenge performing the colonoscopy, while Sweet takes on Raid.

With Sage clinching a playoff spot today, they join Revenge, Pandora, Penetrate and Cobra, leaving the final outstanding spot to be contested between Dudgeon, Spastic, and Sweet -- although it seems likely that Sweet will claim the spot with a win vs Raid (Sweet and Sage win in tiebreaks over Dudgeon and Spastic, having defeated them both).

Ah, you're right, thanks for the corrections! Can't edit posts on this stupid forum.

Also forgot to put in tj hazuki (87-79, 2 teks), TheWadoRooster (84-66) and Sulla (73-46) in the Spastic game.

And 'No Cres, No Win' in the Sweet game -- but that goes without saying.

That Sage game was pretty fun to play in. The FR battle was good stuff. It was a huge game on the line with the last playoff spot likely being decided with this match. Both teams played really well. I ended up with Two TeKs in the end. Solid. We were missing a few key players though, still, congrats Sage!
