TWLB Hot or Not -- Week 8
Revenge vs. Spastic
15:00-12:02
This was an exciting match full of memorable twists and turns, as Spastic started several minutes down playing 7v8 against a Revenge squad sans Glavitik, SquallFF8, M_M God or hellkite, sitting for Kian (116-72), Mean Gene (107-61), trance (101-63) and menelvagor (79-39, 5 teks!!), while skatarius (87-61) took his usual spot guarding under.
Spastic quickly fought back as they added an 8th player, clawing back in the FR from a 6-2 deficit back to 6-6 behind strong pushing from JAMAL (2.8 RPD, 21 kills) and Gran Guerrero (2.8 RPD), while CJW (63-89, 2 teks) managed well in WB annoying and keeping enemy terr Pressure (35-6) low, as Thix fell prey to him twice during heated FR battles.
Spastic vaulted into an 11-9 lead behind fantastic terring from Pure_Luck up until this point, as SPIDERHATE (100-82, 3 teks) pushed hard from above, leading a hard-fighting troupe including Public Assassin (98-56) who had a beast push in the late game for a tek, the underrated TheWadoRooster (91-69), and Sulla (49-48) who was added late and struggled with his lag the entire game, lagging out 5 times.
But, much to the spectators chagrin, Spastic couldn't hold the cram, as extremely strong performances from Cranium (2.9 RPD, 35 kills!!, 3 teks!) and Cig (2.9 RPD, 24 kills) broke cram and mined the living hell out of the enemy's side, reaping constant Havok and giving Revenge the edge it needed.
Then, at 11-11, Pure_Luck's (44-18??) mind finally snapped, and he went full-retard dying over-and-over-and-over-and-over in the mid, launching himself into death into a cram full of enemy spiders, unnecessary ports... just a complete meltdown -- someone alias-check the player Chernobyl, 5 to 1 it's P_L. This was a winnable game for Spastic up to that point.
When all seemed lost, Spastic regained their composure and managed another tek at 11:00-14:50, giving them a chance to hold cram for the win. They held for a minute, looking in prime shape for an amazing comeback, when the Great White Shark known as Cranium lobbed a beautifully-aimed shot through the right hole of the FR, intentionally aiming his shrap and nailing Pure_Luck for an insanely timely and crucial tek, and allowing Revenge to recover and break.
A thrilling final mid-battle ensued, and P_L managed to actually get back up and into the FR for a final battle for the flag, before going after Pressure, who had steadied his terring with a nice 200bty after a bit of a shaky start vs. CJW, with a burst then porting WAY DOWN LOW in the mid, failing to get a tek and being too far from the cram to get back in and let his team attach to keep fighting for the flag, thus ending this epic match!
HOT: Cranium/Cig, a combined 59 kills, 4 teks, 14 flag captures, 2.9 RPD, strong aggressive play, and Cranium's amazing final tek for the win
NOT: Pure_Luck, after a fantastic start leading his team to a potential upset, completely broke down mentally at 11-11 after 22 minutes of stellar play, suiciding into the enemy, dying to that shrap-shot, bad port at the end... giving his team no chance to win
Sweet vs. Revenge
15:00-0
Raid no-showed against Sweet, hurting my TWLM and earning my eternal ire.
HOT: Hulk's huge calves
NOT: kyou's bad manners
HOT Player of the Week: Cranium, 2.9 RPD, 3 teks including a ridiculously awesome trick-shot using aimed shrap, a monster 35 kills, 5 FCs, and making Cig look good -- no easy feat!
Next Week:
Two potentially good matches, as Penetrate (5-1) takes on Cobra (4-2). Cobra started off the season red-hot, but have cooled off since, getting train-wrecked by Dudgeon last week. We'll see if they can get things going against an always strong Pene.
And, even better, we have Pandora (5-1) face off against Dudgeon (1-5), who, despite a disappointing season, are surging play-wise, slaughtering Cobra, and never failing to put up less than 9 to 11 minutes in their losses. Expect both teams to come hard, as Zizzo and co. look to put the hurt on Finnish defectors Leitz and DSin for their lack of patriotism!
