Pandora vs. Penetrate

===============================================
This was an exciting match between two of the remaining three basing giants left in TWLB, as the veteran squads traded leads throughout a match featuring intense FlagRoom battles, mid battles, as well as a ton of cram battles on both sides.
Cape (31-9) was an absolute hot mess (not to be confused with the handsome, strong featured Mess of Dice fame) in the first half of the game, repeatedly dying, suiciding into the cram, suiciding onto the flag without proper support -- I think he was trying to Tim Tebow on top of it, but ended up just Tim'ing and dying.
Meanwhile, Pandora was playing great, with fantastic play from their overspids, as Leitz (103-72), sarger (94-67) and Ayn (89-61) outdueled Trasher (97-56), Blahhy. (93-79), and temporary (95-61), as Penetrate suffered immensely from the notable absences of Royst and Solace in the over battles, to the point where it was effecting their unders.
Meanwhile, Acidbomber (92-50) and zhou (62-58) were a force under, as Spezza (82-50), the best under in the game, was without his usual partner Kate Upton, and Ease (106-53) took his place. I don't know how he got so many kills, I assume their long and successful crams, because Acid/zhou definitely got the better of him for a good part of the match until he familiarized himself with the Pene combos tactics. Ease eventually showcased some extremely strong play in the latter half of the game, with some solid dueling and flanking manouvers.
The sharks were a veritable stalemate, with superb play on both sides, and sharing a clear amount of respect for each other as only Veloce (17 kills, 1 tek) had more than 8 kills -- and with good reason. Vatican Assassin (3.0 RPD) destroyed Pene's early momentum with a scintillating dart towards Veloce's mine in the FR and launched a mesmerizing rep, killing and escaping Cintra and several Pene players and providing spectators with a thrill, no doubt reminding the sharks that any errant mines would prove costly in the face of such unbridled talent. porkjet (2.7 RPD, 1 tek) obviously took note, notching 0 TKs throughout the match.
As with Ease, Cape steadied the ship after a string of amateurish deaths, amassing over 300bty and 3 teks, providing Pandora the stability it needed to comeback. His efforts paled in comparison to the lengths and effort Cintra (47-8) went through to give his squad a chance to win, dashing and darting about with the grace of Nancy Kerrigan before the entirety of Pandora's squad ganged up on him and socked him with a wrench to the knee, exasperating well-placed burst and timely port alike, but the Pandora swarm was too much as their overspids dominated the conversation.
Pene's crambreak was suspect as well, as Sarger demolished their campers time and time again with great play from the left-side coffin, temporary having the memory of a goldfish repeatedly trying to set-up and getting smoked by him.
The only person worth a damn was zhou, who managed to oust him several times, sacrificing his score to constantly set up shop on the right side and take him on. Just one of those games where he did what need to be done, played great under with Acid, but looks bad on paper with a +4 62-58 despite strong spidering from him that was marred by a repeatedly collapsed over.
A+ play from Pandora, from their sharks to their overspids to nice recoveries from Cape and Ease to finish strong and get a convincing win. That said, the entire dynamic would have been different had Royst and Solacer showed, so I'm not convinced this will have too much of a bearing on the Semi-Finals, unless the same lines show -- then expect a similar result.
15:00-10:49
HOT: sarger, a great 94-67 with 1 tek, part of the overspid trio that dominated the FR battles, and some absolutely riveting play in the left coffin tearing Penetrate's hapless campers apart, buying Pandora a ton of time and sealing the victory
NOT: Penetrate's overspiders -- not enough push or sacrifice, awful camp-breaking that was repeatedly shot down by Leitz's anti-camp or Sarger's sorties, and the weak link in an otherwise strong Pene line
Honorable Mentions: Cintra for some amazing terring, a showstopping 47-8, and zhou for some great undering with Acid and veteran, selfless play during their crambreaks trying to neutralize Sarger
Pandora vs. Dudgeon
Another feast for spectator's eyes (as opposed to a feast for their genitalia, which would involve Cig <ER> and some hand lotion), a placated Pandora had the fight brought to them by a hungry Dudgeon team that capitalized on Panda having just beaten Penetrate in a thriller just moments earlier and clinched the #2 spot and a bye regardless of this game's outcome.
Cape was even worse than he was in the first half of the Pene game, this time extending across the entire game, going an absurd 51-14 with 5 teks, bouncing around like he was flying in an M.C. Escher painting, and hurting my motherfucking TWLM (swear to god if you lose me TWLM-B like you lost me that TWDTB final, going to CraigsList murder you you fuck.) You can see him about to go full retard, as he darts down the mid-tube bursting like a maniac, like Tracy Jordan running down an L.A. freeway shouting "I am a Jediiiii".
Anyway, Zidane started in place of Vati, playing an excellent 3.0 RPD, 1 tek match alongside my personal favorite shark, Mattey (3.0 RPD as well), freely launching more than double the amount of bombs and mines in the previous game and notching well over twice as many kills, not nearly as worried that Sakke (2.6 RPD) or nokkonen (2.9 RPD, 2 teks) could do as much damage with them.
Ayn led the way with a bot-MVP 127-63, alongside Ease (118-63), Leitz (111-75, 3 teks), Spezza (105-54) and Undercamp (104-47).
Mikkiz fared little better than his counterpart, despite putting in more effort, going 37-11 as his squad got outkilled by 130, notching 2 teks, but failing to port-trap Cape, then Cape returning the favor by port-trapping him in the exact same spot a minute later and killing him as penance for his hubris.
Zizzo struggled with his lag, going a poor 56-55 in spider before switching to WB and dropping 20 kills and 6 (!!) teks, taking full advantage of his lag and Cape's terribleness.
dreamwin had another fantastic game in spider, dropping a 117-87 with 3 teks, but maketso (95-79), Melanoma (84-80), and gilder (75-71) couldn't stay abreast -- which is unusual, because as horny Finns usually breasts are the first thing they stay with.
Ultimately, however, Pandora slogged it out, finishing 2-0 for the weekend. Kudos!
15:00-14:02
HOT: Shayde, after a months-long absence from both LB and BD, still managing a game-high 127-63
NOT: Cape, seriously hurting my TWLM. plz die irl.
Honorable Mentions: dreamwin, with a stellar 117 kill performance, and Zizzo, taking advantage of Cape's inequities and notching 6 teks in wb in a matter of minutes
Heading into the Playoffs:
With a pair of wins, Pandora seals up the #2 spot and a bye, but they won't say bye for long to Pene, as they'll meet again in the Semi-Finals after Penetrate does to Sage what Carrot Top did to comedy.
Revenge finishes with a perfect 8-0 (congrats!) and clinching the #1 spot with a wonderful season, and will likely roll out of bed and into the Finals a few short weeks from now with a very sharp increase in difficulty as they take on either Penetrate or Pandora for the title.
Final Standings:
Revenge (8-0)
Pandora (7-1)
Penetrate (6-2)
Cobra (4-4)
Sweet (4-4)
Sage (3-5)
--------------
Dudgeon (2-6)
Spastic (2-6)
Raid (0-8)
I'm looking forward to the 4/5 Quarter-Final match between Cobra and Sweet, which should be fun and competitive. Sage did a great job of pulling together and making the playoffs after imploding, but will fall to Penetrate in the 3/6 match.
Revenge will then take on Cobra/Sweet, which they'll win, whilst Penetrate takes on Pandora in what should be an absolutely amazing Semi-Final -- really hoping Solace and Royst should, could be looking at something like an epic 20:00-19:00 match. A lot of the same players from last years riveting Semi-Final between Thunder and Pene that went to 20-17 will return for that one, so be ready.
Then the TWLB 17 Final will take place between Revenge vs. Penetrate/Pandora, which should be another insert-superlative-here. So, a lot to look forward to, should be a great Playoffs!
