    TWLB Quarter-Finals HOT or NOT

    Sweet vs. Cobra

    Video Highlights:

*Note: All player stats are from the 15-10:27 first part -- I don't have the stats of the second part of this game as bot was killed

This was an electrifying match, as the first half was A Tale of Two Terrs, as both Chief Utsav (33-4) and Burnt (28-5, 2 teks) brought their A-game, surviving, porting, and playing absolutely fantastic, leading to long, drawn out wars of attrition in the flag-room as the game started with an 8-minute FR battle, wowing spectators.

Cobra came hard despite missing Necromotic, Renzi and Dwopple for this playoff game, with replacement shark BongHits (17 kills,3.1 RPD, 2 teks) just an absolute beast throughout the first half of the game, as if channeling Dwopple's vengeful spirit -- and making his substitution 20 minutes in somewhat questionable the way he was playing -- Cobra did worse with him out.

This was a tight game heading into 9-9 as not a single spider hit 100 after 26 minutes of play, with a lot of hovering over the flag and a tentativeness before pushing until Sweet gained confidence later on in the game, as Eelam (96-57), Jones (92-56) and zeebu (81-45) led the way over, with strong play from Ra (83-44) and Engineers under (75-61), with venomous play from all of them, especially in the second half of the game.

For their part, the Cobramin also fared well despite missing key players, as flared (92-53), Murder (83-55), Turban (80-60), humid (81-71), and saetep (65-53) were solid for the most part.

I didn't think this was Creature's (2.9 RPD) best game, although he was serviceable, while Riverside (23 kills, 2.9 RPD) and hulk (19 kills, 3.0 RPD) were absolute barbarians, stomping and pillaging through enemy lands and bombing and mining the living hell out of them, with multiple 3-and-4fers throughout the game (they take up almost half the highlight reel).

Sweet finally took command of the game around 9-9, marching up a 14:50-10:00 lead as Cobra broke in at 14:57 and the bot declared the came over, despite Quarter-Final and Semi-Final matches being 20 minutes, causing a giant controversy.

The worst part was 2-3 people brought this issue up BEFORE the game, and people in yellow during were commenting that there would be an appeal, with Willby, who was hosting, absolutely clueless, and not getting the bot-issue right despite suggestion of doing so before it started, as it cited "Race to 15" in green.

It was elected to finish the game as a single-round to 20, with both sides starting in the ear, Cobra needing 10 minutes, and Sweet needing 5 -- which, if you check the video at 14:59, they are both in equal position in the FR, so I think it was a fair call (albeit retarded) -- so they proceeded as such, as Sweet went on to continue their domination and swifty end the game.

Kudos to Sweet for fantastic play from their terr to their sharks all the way down to their over and underspids.

HOT: Riverside and Hulk, a beastly 42 combined kills, 3.0 RPD, and doing massive damage with some epic aggressive sharking
Honorable Mention: Burnt, who played fantastic, notching an excellent pair of Teks
Honorable Mention: Chief Utsav, who was fantastic the whole game despite his team being outkilled, dying only 4 times in the first 26 minutes, and really stepping up for Cobra and giving them a chance
Honorable Mention: BongHits, with a massive 3 teks and 3.0 RPD notching 17 kills in only 20 minutes, he was a juggernaut
NOT: Willby. Bad refereeing and ignoring many warnings about the bot and its time-limit. Cobra played well, but were ultimately outplayed, no one to single out.

    Penetrate vs. Sage

Sage only showed 5 players, and forfeited.

HOT Player of the Week: Riverside, proving his detractors wrong and sizzling the opposition with rapacious play and bombing the fucking hell out of Cobra, leading the Sweet charge alongside Hulk, who was also great!

    Next Week:

The Playoffs get even better as Penetrate moves on to take #2 Pandora. Potential concerns abound as Royst and Solacer, their two best spiders, are nowhere to be found. They'll need them if they want a chance to beat Panda.

Undefeated Revenge returns to the fold as they take on Sweet. The Sweetums have had a great run since losing their 4 dice starters, playing with more cohesion and showing a veracity to not just give up and die. That will be put to the test as they are significantly outmatched against Revenge. Hopefully they can put up a good fight and achieve a respectable end to their season, which I think is already a success giving their fantastic routing of Cobra and reaching the Semis.

wasn't giving shrap a fixed starburst pattern dispersal partly to address that? great terrs like cint know to place themselves between the dispersal areas, and sharks place mines relative to where shrap would likely hit.

i'm not particularly for or against shrap getting nerfed, just curious.
