Soft Lock Appeal

When I spoke to Value about Soft Lock, they explained to me what it was, and that it was on January the 13th.

The way I understood it, was that it was at the end of that calendar day, not January 12th - Midnight.

As you can see via Zizzo's log, it is clear evidence of what I rightfully thought to be the actual date of the Soft Lock.

Regardless of what Ricko believes he explained to me or not, there was no mention of 5:00 PM EST after Value's TWLD match,
was simply a vague explanation of differences between Soft Lock and Hard Lock - since I was not familiar with either term.

I'd say talk to every TWLB squad captain (assuming you will only be playing THAT subleague), get their ok on you being able to play the rest of twlb season for Dudgeon, and hand it over to us.

How ever do not pass it off like it was my fault apt; our explanations of what soft and hard lock were not vague in the slightest, we spent a good 5-10 minutes explaining it to you and I even used the direct quotes from the TWL rules saying that the softlock begins at the end of the final match of round 1.

Seems like it was personally at me. What has subspace clinging on for life got to do with any of this lol? You were explained the rules and went against them and people have said they are happy to let you back in, I am pretty relaxed.

How far do they bend the rules for ‘common sense’? In other words while the arguments for allowing Apt in seem logical (game is dying, it was only 24 hours, there was a change in the rules this season, etc) what happens when someone pops up and says ‘hey, wait you allowed Apt to rejoin so how about me, it was only 32 hours later’. Point is, there has to be a line in the sand somewhere.

I predict that this thread lasts the whole season, it will just morph into 12-15 various appeals that we all know are coming as season unfolds.

Well, this is a result of the issue that has plagued TWL for many seasons and one that we have previously offered solutions. But for various reasons those in charge decided to ignore the solution and deal with the endless drama and appeals.

Simply put; the ‘rules’ and the ‘punishments’ should be considered two, separate and distinct things. Currently they are blended into the same document; this results in constant bending/breaking of them. They aren’t really rules as much as ‘guidelines’ because of this. M_M actually offered the same solution in a few posts above when he suggested going to each Captain and finding out if they would agree if they would let Apt in.

The ‘rules’ should be ironclad, no bending or subjective interpretations; but the ‘punishment’ phase should fit the circumstances and support situational flexibility.

It is against the rules to try to join a squad after the soft lock. Period. That’s it, no arguing or debating. Now what it the ‘punishment’ for breaking this particular rule? It should be written so that it supports several possible outcomes, perhaps ranging from having to sit out a few games to not playing any games that season at all. A mechanism for handing out the punishment should be established comprised of TWL leaders, squad captains, and players.

This is what was proposed several years ago; we actually rewrote the rules to support this and presented them. I guess some felt it better to keep the endless drama, certainly keeps the forum active.

I wish you all would let him slide. Sounded like unclear time limits and I doubt anyone else will fit in this criteria to appeal in this manner. It shouldn't be this big a deal. We want people to play ,not be excluded. Make him submit to all the rules for rest of the season. I'm making soft lock appeal on a another issue myself in another thread and pretty frustrated with staff and their decision making concerning it... especially since I'm not breaking any rules and staff is making a mistake.. so far. If you have time for a read there please check it out.
