TWLJ Season 18 - Week 3
It seems like an extremely slow day at work which means that it's the perfect time to write some predictions. Keep in mind that this'll probably be a one-time thing, don't expect me to do more of these unless something miraculous happens. I have also been gone for a long time and haven't seen most of these players play, thus my predictions may be a bit off. These threads are meant to be for fun anyways. Enjoy.
Cougars vs Revenge
TWLJ starts off with a match that features two underdogs of the season looking to secure their first win. While some of you may think otherwise, this is an extremely important match for both squads if they wish to to make it to the playoffs. Both squads seem to be affected by their lack of roster depth and/or talent. If one of the starting members of Revenge fail to show up for this ever so important match it could prove to be fatal for their playoff hopes. This should most definitely be a good match.
Revenge comes to this match as the favorites due to their roster having a couple of well-established names and slightly more experience. Unfortunately they only have five players I would even consider to be starters, but luckily they are against a slightly weaker team meaning they might be able to pull off a win even with a couple of no-shows. Some of their starters have the tendency to perform inconsistently; if their opponents are capable of taking advantage from the weaker performing players it could very well be final nail in the coffin for Revenges season.
Ideal lineup: Cross, Rendered, Requiem, Eelam & Marge
Substitutes: Jones, Morph & Hellkite
Cougars may come to this match as the slight underdogs, but this doesn't mean you should underestimate their team. They have a couple of dark horses on their roster and more depth than their opponents. While they may not be the most talented bunch out there, they certainly are capable of winning this match and improving their chances of making it to the playoffs. Hopefully my boy Slaughter makes some big plays, assuming he has returned from Amsterdam for this match.
Ideal lineup: Slaughter, Shaun, Frightful, Lag Killer & Fork
Substitutes: Beast, Proximo & Toxic
This is a decisive game for both teams. Revenge should win this one assuming they have everyone from their starting lineup playing, with a score of 50-42 -- else there's a chance for Cougars to get an upset win.
Juans vs Fierce
Our second matchup features Fierce and their challenger Juans. Without a doubt both squads have the depth and skill to make it to the playoffs, but there's also a clear favorite to win: Fierce.
I would say that Fierce is probably the third strongest javelin squad this season as a team, but if you go by individual talent alone they would probably be the fourth strongest team. They started their season strong by defeating the reigning champions Pandora and are looking to continue their winning streak with another victory. They aren't lacking in individual talent or depth and have plenty of players capable of carrying their team on a good day. While they may not be the brightest or best players individually, they make up for it with their good ability to work as a team. Their key player would be 24, notorious from doing nothing with the donation money for years. Jokes aside, he's a fairly good player and tries his hardest. Singer on the other hand had a once-in-a-lifetime performance against Pandora, I doubt he'll be able to repeat the first weeks miracle again.
Ideal lineup: Tiny, 24, Mean Gene, Singer & Evaden
Substitutes: Apok, Deez Nuts & Shock Therapy
While Juans may not be the strongest squad in either depth or individual skill, they do have one trick up in their sleeves that may prove to be difficult to deal with. Most of their starting lineup are from Finland, giving them the edge against some of the middle-tier teams due to the lag advantage. They are a squad you should not underestimate -- Juans are more than capable of getting an upset win or two this season if they play it right. However, they really should try to improve their chemistry as a team, as now it mostly looks like five headless chickens trying to accomplish something in a solo effort.
Ideal lineup: Skilder, Roiwerk, Nowyoudie, Fiora & B.Rabbit
Substitutes: Hunt, Chance & Scarfaze
This match does have the potential to be close. Juans are looking to bounce back after their depressing defeat against Pandora last Sunday, but unfortunately the schedule has been nothing but brutal for them. Fierce should have the edge, considering they are on a winning streak and showing no signs of slowing down. The game will probably end with a score of 50-39.
Dudgeon vs Value
Only two matches remaining to write about; thankfully this one will be rather short. Our third matchup features Dudgeon and Value, a match that shouldn't be even remotely close unless something miraculous happens.
As I see it, Dudgeon is a full-time basing squad with almost no players capable of playing this league on the highest level. There is a fairly good chance they will not get a single victory this season, but at least they are going to show up every week and try their hardest -- unlike some squads in the past. Zizzo has the potential to break even, but that's about it.
Ideal lineup: Melanoma, Mikkiz, Nokkonen Sakke & Zizzo
Substitutes: Kawrae & Cuji
Value on the other hand are looking really strong so far. They have the individual talent and team chemistry, if you disregard the fact that they had tons of drama going on earlier in the season when I was on the squad. They have the potential to defeat most if not all teams, given the conditions are right, and are probably the fourth strongest team this season. While they have a solid roster in all three leagues, they would greatly benefit from a couple of players stepping up in Javelin if they wish to compete for the championship title. It is quite unlikely that one of their key players, Infrared, will show to these matches, but it would be an added bonus if he did.
Ideal lineup: Spawnisen, Amnesti, Infrared, Solske & Plob#f
Substitutes: Waxy, Commodo & Lorko
Value should win this one quite easily. Score will probably be closer to 50-30.
Dice vs Pandora (Match of the Week)
Match of the Week features the two strongest teams of the season with a lot of raw talent and teaming chemistry. The players have played together for several years, knowing the strengths and weaknesses of their team mates. This game could go either way, but I am favoring Dice to win just because of this one fact: we have a certain player who is going to be a starter, and I'm not talking about zidane.
Dice should have a good chance of winning this one if they add the right players. They have it all; they know how to team, they are individually strong and talented, not to mention great chemistry between the players. Unfortunately they have one bad apple in the basket who may ruin it all -- Havok. As long as they don't add him to their game, it should be an excellent match to both play and watch.
Ideal lineup: Stayon, Megaman89, Evildeed, Kess & Maketso
Substitutes: Havok, Aprix & Children
I hate to write about my own squad. We have the players to make a win happen, but we also have our own little sour apple on the roster who may be the reason for our inevitable downfall -- assuming he continues to play our key matches. I will gladly bench myself for Rough this weekend, it should be entertaining to watch him play.
Ideal lineup: Ease, Rough, Tsunami, Best & Dreamwin
Substitutes: Turban, Cape & Hulk, because fuck Zidane
Just kidding, love ya Ruff & Havok. It should be a close match if both teams have their real lineups. I think Dice will win with 50-46.
DISCLAIMER: Turban is not responsible for any money lost in TWLM. This post is sponsored by 24. Please donate all your excess money to SSCU Trench Wars Donation Fund to help the zone die faster. You should not bet on me to MVP any match as I will be focusing on basing alone.
EDIT: done with my lunch break, finished dis shit. I would write one about basing .. but too lazy. It's probably the only league I've care about the past couple of years.
