DUDGEON - THUNDER
Dudgeon has been strong throughout the regular season and playoffs, and they have not dropped a single match during the playoffs making them the favorite to win the title over Thunder. They will start the series with a one match advantage in a best of five series as they never dropped to the Loser's Bracket which might play a key role in the outcome of this match. Most of their members have performed well, and most importantly consistently, which is something you can not say about their opponents who have been struggling in there recent weeks.
There is a few players who discredit the successes of Dudgeon because of their apparent latency advantage over all their opponents, as they have multiple players from the great continent of Europe, but that is nonsense talk in my opinion. The fact of the matter is that anyone with some level of skill and experience will not have any problems when facing an opponent with slightly higher latency and thus it will not affect the outcome of this match. However, if someone is blatantly lagging (whether it is due to a routing issue or other reasons) then it will be taken care of in a swift manner. I would highly encourage everyone to check their connections before the match starts and take precautionary measures (such as having a VPN ready for use) if the dreaded HopOne issues arise.
Dudgeons weakest link is surprisingly Dreamwin due to his lackluster performances in the playoffs, and because of his general inactivity and lack of practice. He seems like the type of player who needs a couple of games under his belt to before warming up, and I'm not sold on his warm up ritual in the minijavs arena. I'm not including Zizzo in the starting lineup as it is highly unlikely that he will get to play unless Dudgeon wins their first match in grand style, but he will still be a good substitute candidate if it comes down to it. As an added note, Rough has been talking smack for weeks and is sure to try his hardest against his archnemeses Ease and Zidane. Dudgeons other members that are worth mentioning would be Stayon, Maketso and Commodo, and even Kess, all who bring something new to the table, and of course Mega who could always surprise us with a magnificent performance if given the chance to shine.
Expected lineup: Dreamwin, Maketso, Commodo, Stayon and Kess
Backup players: Mega and Zizzo
Thunder on the other hand has been struggling to get in the groove as several of their members have been on a hit-or-miss status for weeks. They might have more latent talent and skill than their opponents, but it does not matter when most of their players are not performing on their usual level. In my eyes it would require a small miracle for Thunder to win this match as they will have no reliable substitutes due to Steadman not being able to show to the match.
It pains me to write this, but one of Thunders key players is Zidane based on his consistent performances throughout the season, and due to his capability to carry a round or two on a good day. Their other star player is obviously Ease, who has not been performing on his usual level during the playoffs so far, but that is sure to change this week as he wants his revenge against Rough. Unfortunately, this match is not up for them to decide. The outcome of this match will be based on the performances of Tiny, Amnesti and Rendered as they have been struggling as of late; a chain is only as strong as its weakest link after all. They are also lacking in substitues which might be their downfall in this best of five series as Thunder needs three victories to win the title.
Expected lineup: Ease, Zizzo, Tiny, Amnesti and Rendered
Backup players: Mythril and Fram
I'm expecting the series to end in Dudgeons favor with an overall score of 3-1. Thunder will fight tooth and nail to secure one round, but their lack of depth, and therefore substitutes, will be the reason for their impending loss.
tl;dr: dudgeon wins because steadman is in a graduation party. was bored at work.
