For those who are tired of the existing leagues and would like to see something new this thread is to brainstorm that idea and see what Trench Wars can come up with collectively. Nothing said here is firm, all suggestions that could be modified. I also realize that this idea may not be popular with players who enjoy existing squad structures and only want to play with their friends. That and several other reasons may be why this idea will never move past this forum post.
Trenchwars Premier League
8 Completely New Trench Wars Squads – new names, new rosters, new caps, new banners, new maps.
- No ties to the past, squad name cannot have been used before.
- Named to be donated by Continuum player base, original owner retains rights (provides name on semi-permanent loan - till squad is no longer active)
- Names to be voted on by player base to select the final 8. (Vets be generous and use your inter zone connections to find the best names!)
- Each squad to be active in all 3 leagues.
- 0 double squadding in TWPL. No aliasing.
Capped by 16-24 Caps who have never capped together before. Eligible and interested caps to be voted on by the TW player base. Caps cannot dissolve squads; they can however leave or demote themselves. Inactive caps to be demoted to assistants based on activity or via squad vote. Cap selection to be made very carefully (players who have a long history of dissolving squads and hopping ineligible)
Redesigned TWD/TWL rosters to include new roles on squad such as “Recruiter”, “Mentor” “Players in Training” (no separate training squad). Every squad to have at least two staff members on it, and three new players. Websites such as TWD to be modified to accommodate new roles.
Players are to be selected and placed together ahead of time (not necessarily completely by captains, likely by a well represented unbiased Trench Wars Premier League Council working in coordination with Caps)
Division of talent spread out among squads. In regards to basing this means that elite sharks, terrs etc. cannot squad together as we have a shortage and new ones have to be trained.
X amount of spots per squad in each league to be filled. Meaning you cannot have 5 elite extra javs, wbs, basers etc sitting on the roster period.
TWL and TWD stats to be studied ahead of time to ensure that talent is spread out based on 1. Activity (short and long term) 2. Skill 3. TWPL Council discussions
Currently we have 196 players who have played TWL this season, of that 75 have over 10 games, around 56 have more then 5. While this is a premier league it is to have a focus on benefiting the majority of players meaning its inclusive not exclusive. Squads won't be able to play the same X line every week during the regular season, one way to change this will be to have minimum 1 new addition per week in Jav and Warbird events and, and 2 in Basing.
- Emphasis placed on dividing players up – can’t have any more than 10% of a former squad together on a roster. This must be done in order to freshen up the leagues.
- Focus placed on getting games in on Sunday’s during offseason.
Squads to be created at the end of TWL season and to compete together in TWPL offseason in TWD league events – including short 1 month – 3-4 round cups in basing, javs and warbirds that run for 3-4 weeks and result in newly designated TWPL Cup Champions.
- New leagues, newly designed maps
- New Website (or simply do modifications to existing ones)
- To be part of the league every squad must have some activity in pub, and retain/train at least 3 new players.
- Emphasis based on building squad identity. Limited to no option to move squads during active league play.
- TWPL once established to replace TWL and start at the same time TWL Season 21 would.
- TWPL to be reassessed and improved on after season 1.
