They are the total records of the opponents of the squads. It's an indication of strength of schedule.

Here's the flaw with that system.... by beating each squad, you're making them look easier..

look at the "easiest so far" and "hardest so far" squads.. in general, the ones that have had it the "easiest so far" are strong squads, and the ones that have had it the "hardest so far" just aren't that strong.
