Why are people rated by what they have done in the past?

I think it is just stupid to see how so many players are being called the top of tw because they have won some twl's or sumthing or used to be very good. Their are a lot of players around like Ruby or Badboyz who don't play as often as they used to play, so their skill decreased. However these players still get to play in squadmatches because of their so called "status".
I think we should more look at what people show recently and shouldn't talk about what happend like what happened months/years ago.

P.S. I could name dozens of players who are overrated cause of what they have done in the past or cause of their "status"
However i could also name dozens of players who are underrated cause they have never competed in TWL because they don't have a good "status" and therefor won't be invited to squads who rock.

No he doesn't. It's not his decision who will get to play on weekends, it's every squad captain's. If they want to do it based on a reputation or not, that's there call.

Roxy, i get to play every lj if i show up.
But you don't get it, i just want to get to peoples, the squadcaptains, mind that they should play the players in a match that have been recently actif and showed they can be very consistant in getting 10+-10 recs, instead of playing the "legends" who haven't been very actif, but showed a long time ago they can do very good.

Thats what i try to say.
Like in the NBA, Jordan was above all at his good years, but over 5 years he won't be good at all anymore. Would it then be intelligent to play him in a match. I say no, but some caps don't get it.

P.S. I wasn't talking about newer players that showed ONCE they can do very good, but i was talking about new players that keep showing that they do good.

of course if a vet hasn't played for a year he'd need to prac for a while to get good again, but if a vet plays just a twld every week and no other games he can still do as good or better than some kid that wins elim every day.

the only problem with those vets is, that they hardly prac with their team anymore, and then there usually will be a lack of teamplay between him and his teammates. of course the vet usually has enough experience to know how to team, but if the others hardly know him it's hard to team on instict.

jordan wouldn't be able to play in 5 years anymore because physically he'd get overrun, stamina/strength/injury problems. i've never heard of those things in a 2dspaceshipgame. -_-

The reason older vets play and newbies sit is because vets ARE more skilled than newbies. Squad captains play who they think has a greater potential to do better. IE: vets have proven themselves before, have more experience, and usually have more skill than newer players. Newer players have none of that.

As for Ruby and BBZ, who would you rather play? Ruby talks(or talked) a lot of shit back in the day, but I know from experiene that he can back his shit (even tho I beat him=) ). BBZ is EXTREMELY rusty, however, instincts dont rust. I would rather play BBZ over any newbie because BBZ has a much higher potential than 99% of TW. What you people dont realize is that after a certain point in skill, results are more dependant on effort than on skill (results = effort*skill). Lets say BBZ's skill = 200. NewbA's skill = 100. BBZ would have to try 25% to match NewbA's 50%. See?

I hate people who thinks that vets suck because we dont give results. We dont give results because YOU suck and arent worth the effort. Make a vet become more competetive and after a few days he'll be able to smoke anyone, if he really wanted to. It all goes back to effort.
