if its too much strain on the staff to start a twls for spiders, why not add it to twd and then see how much interest there actually is. twsd would be a good testing ground and beyond the inital setup at the twd page i dont see it being much work for staff. spiders are very fun ships to duel in, and team spidering would be different and very team/strategy oriented. i think the reason that it appears that there isnt much interest in spiders is because there is no league for them, not the the other way around. if theres no place to compete in a ship then no interest in it really can exist....other than a bunch of ppl talking on a message board about wanting it to happen.

to me spider dueling is very similar to dsb wb dueling, which is one of the reasons why it was a very easy transfer for me. dsb does have a 4v4 wb league and it plays fine. yes there is alot of vulching and teaming, thats part of the fun.

the idea of 5v5 with 10 lives is already beaten into the ground with wbs and javs. if we're going to do a spider league, let's at least give it unique rules instead of the generic deathmatch snorefest.

i've always liked the "protect the king" settings where one person on each team has only 2 lives (and if they die, the whole team loses) and the rest of the players have 10 lives.

i don't think protect the king would work with spiders, but it's merely an example of something different. think along those lines, then go for it.

gerbil, what you aren't acknowledging is that just because you find something boring or overused doesnt mean that everyone else does. you may think that wb and jav are boring..."point, shoot, snore" is what i've heard you say. the fact is, though, that wb and jav with their 5v5 deathmatch system, are more popular than base. obviously your opinion is in the minority.

if something different was done, id like to see 5v5 inside a base where each player has one death. last team standing wins that round, then play 7, 9, or 11 rounds (however many result in the desirable game length), and whoever wins more rounds wins. sorta like MG squad duels.

i never said my opinion was meant to represent the majority of the people. i just proposed that the spider league try a new approach and backed my argument with my personal opinions.

my message is appealing to the people who would like something unique. if you don't like change, then feel free to argue against it or not say anything at all.

you stated your opinion and i stated a fact, which is that the vast majority of ppl in TW think your "snorefest" is in fact quite entertaining. to be honest i wasnt sure that you were acknowledging this fact, just because you seemed pretty matter of fact about saying that wb and jav are boring, obviously i assumed incorrectly.

well my intended point is to see if people want something different. if so, then i'd probably be interested in playing it... if people are content with deathmatch-style, then it's not worth my time.

id play with random damage bullets
i think its funner when you got shot and you normally would die, but you sometimes get lucky and only get liek 100 taken off. it is frustrating when two bullets kill you, but if we were going to set dmg at 500, thats 3 shots, when soemtiems you can get lucky as a spiders and take 4-5...id rather take that chance.

with a fixed damage of 500 a bullet it could be a good league. with random damage it would be even 'funnier' than basing.

a map like svs-zones use would be nice, not just a deathmatch arena like wbs, but some more walls etc. but then we should get a limit of 3-5 deaths aswell.

i doubt i'd have time for another league tho, i found out i didn't even have time for AML (my 4th league) last season.. and it would mean we need more hosts aswell.
