            Flagroom

            Didnt wanna start a whole new thread for this, and this was about flagrooms so I just posted this here. I just made a new flagroom, sort of speak.

            Flagroom
            (it might not appear at normal size so it might look weird, just make it normal size if it happens)

            and because you cant see the ear very well in this one:

            Ear

            I made a few changes to the flagroom without really doing drastic work:

            1) I changed the entrance, as you can see on the pic there are 2 blue dots, I removed those blocks making the entrance a wee bit bigger.

            2) I moved the flagbar 2 tiles up and changed the sides a lil bit, so in the entrance its a bit bigger, but from entrance to flagroom its still pretty much the same.

            3) I raised the roof by 1 tile.

            4) I made the side 3 tiles further the right/left making the flagroom a little bit bigger

            5) made it a lil less atractive to escape to ear during flagroom battles, hoping the action stays more in the middle, tho ear is still accesable.

            6) I added some holes, and changed the right one, moved it 1 tile to the right.

            Basicly what I tried with this flagroom is make the entering a lil more easy, and also making the map a bit more attractive to play a jav. As you can see its pretty easy for a jav to take out cram and line. Making it harder to defend and a bit easier for attack. With this I hope it will result in more flagroom battles, thus a more open game and with 2 pretty even teams much closer games. Sometimes you see 2 teams being pretty even but after 1 team finally kicked the other one out having a good defense wich gives them a couple of minutes.. With this flagroom it should be easier to get in, leaving more room for flagroom fight, thus enlarging the flagroom a bit, making it a bit easier for a terrier to stay alive, and thereby (hopefully) making the flagroom fights even longer.. I made this map in a very short time, and I will try to make a better version.. But this is basicly what I want.

                Gall, 2 things.

                I like: the design of lower flagroom with more holes and the widened entrance.

                I don't like: the setup of the upper flagroom. It seems to me that it is SO open that it would promote camping because of the many spots where a spider could just sit an fire.

                  As long as it isnt a HUGE map change its fine with me. I dunno what those blocks in the ear would do, but its cool I think there should be more wholes on the bottom of the base for a jav, or spides to shoot through and hit the cram. As of now u got the 2 wholes on the sides and none can hit the cram.

                    Like I said, I made that one pretty quick, and specially the upper flagroom could use a better change, but this is more general, and what I mainly concentrated on in this map is making the entering easier and making the cram weaker.

                      Ya there is alot of little things that could use a changing and it wouldnt totally be changing the map. Im sure u map guyz and creative thinkers can put ur heads together Unfortunatly im not either of them, but i like some of gall's ideas. He doesnt make huge changes and keeps it simple.

                            Those are just the kind of changes I'd like to see. Nothing too drastic, but small changes to keep the game interesting and add more diversity to the games.

                            (that's not a good map though if you ask me. Opening up the jav shots on the sides of the FR "floor" is something that would make the jav much more useful though.

                              Bringing up an old post here...


                              If we want this idea to work we have to start having some maps being proposed and i'll get them tried out in go base. Email the bases to me at pureluck@trenchwars.org. We can have them being rotated and see how that works. Basically the custom maps could be used for the playoffs , the third map out of the three games would be the team with teh better record. The exception would be in the semis or finals where the third map would be the regular base map. Any more ideas...

                                This is going to apply for all three leagues. All playoff games are going to be best outta three matches.

                                The idea of this map and home team advantage is a good one and I'd like to see this explored further. The idea is playoff squads need to be held at a higher caliber than regular season squad. New maps are going to be introduced in th playoff periods. Don't worry you will have exposure to these maps before hand. New as in not used in regular season. This is where playoffs squads ability to adapt to new variations and home team advantage comes into effect.

                                These are the work around guildlines for this at the moment. Small corrections will be made, however the bulk of the material will be here to stay unless a major flaw is provided.

                                The TWL staff wants to move forward on this idea and hence are starting the time long process of trying and testing new map suggestions NOW! so that TWL will start on time when it was announced. So read ahead and make suggestions and get your maps in!

                                Constraint:
                                -The maps people submit as their home map might not be of a high quality. Apart from that, the bots need to be configured for warp coordinates for every map.

                                Result: There needs to be a limit in the amount of maps which need to be pre-approved.

                                Solution: There are going to be three maps excluding the regular season map that are going to be new or slightly modified. Each playoff team can select one of these three maps and change tilesets etc but not actually change the gameplay elements. The customized map is then issued to staff after playoff spots are determined. If a playoff team doesn't submit a map a default map which is not the regular season map will be selected.

                                Constraints:
                                - Regular season has to be one game each. Winner takes the win. There is not going to be enough time to play each team twice.

                                Result: Therefore, the varying home map cannot be used for regular season.

                                Solution: The home advantage is only going to be for playoffs. As indicated above, each playoff team will be allowed to customize pre-approved maps and submit them. There are three matches. Quarters, Semis and Finals.

                                Ok, the regular season standings are going to be taken into consideration.
                                Since it is cross conference playoffs, it will proceed in this structure:

                                Quarter Finals: -
                                The final rankings in the conferences are used to determine who's home map the first game is to be played. The higer ranking team will get to play first.

                                For example:
                                Since its going to be - A = conference A and B = Conference B.
                                A#1 v B#4 : A#1 plays first on home map followed by B#4 on its home map
                                A#2 v B#3 : A#2 plays first
                                A#3 v B#2 : B#2 plays first
                                A#4 v B#1 : B#1 plays first

                                If the decider game needs to be played then the final game is played on the regular season map.

                                Semi's and Finals: -

                                The team going first will be determined by regular season ranking: If they are the same the tiebreaker determining factor specified in the particular league format. ie w/l etc. Therefore, each team will play on their home map and if need be, the third game will be played on the regular season map.

                                Overall, I think this will add to the excitement and intensity of TWL as a whole since changing the map will demand a higher skill level of pilots to be able to adapt to a new setting. Teams might have stratergies specific to their home map and will add to the excitement of not being limited to one time of lineup. Different people may be specialist at each area.

                                Now, we need to get map suggestions in now for all three leagues:
