i'm with Download - last twl ran fine we don't need huge imporvements.

With all the ranting about fixing TWD bugs and such ... there DOES actually seem to be problems that ... NEED (<-- emphasis on need) to be fixed.

Note ... I even consider the TWBL weasel size to be a necessary fix bc it should be the same as pub settings like wb and jav TWL.

to make a weasel smaller in the settings takes about 5 mins, 10 at most sufficient, they dont need a one year break to do that

Agreed. And most of the twd problems exist because it's run with bots - in twl refs are there. (so if somebody doesn't get warped by the bot, the staffer can warp them)

So the twd problems aren't the twl problems.

May be true Nick, but then the TWL problems have even more deeply rooted than the TWD problems. And in many cases they are both dependent on each other since they are supposed to be similar rules / settings / etc.

This zone is known for its long off-seasons. I predict this will be the longest off-season yet due to Mythrandir being MIA. I know that people put in a lot of work to make this league run and that I should be thankful. The fact is, however, that Hockey Zone changed to MySQL and got their league up and running in a little over four months. It has been five months since our league ended and chances are it will be two more.

I agree with Nick, don't reset TWD again; it will be beneficial to your zone.

Well here is what I have planned:

I would like to do the following things in this order:

1) Finish the new matchbots
2) Test the matchbots
3) Integrate the matchbots into TWD and reset it
4) Wait for around a month and a half then pick the squads and start TWL.

The reasons for me wanting to do this is as follows:

- People have discovered how to exploit the bugs in the current matchbot. Resetting them again will create a more even playing field.

- The new bots should eliminate doublesquadding in TWL and TWD so this will contribute to a better sense of the squad standings.

- Resetting TWD with the new matchbots will provide extended bot testing before using them in TWL.

- I would like to specify the time limit of between the reset of TWD and the picking of the TWL squads. This way there will be no confusion as to if the games count or not.

- These bots must be very well designed so as to allow for the consequent seasons to start quickly and without any hitches.

Once again, I am really sorry about the delays, however I am doing a complete rewrite of the Matchbots to facilitate the ease of bug finding and editing in the future. My intention is to have these bots remain in TW for a long time, so they must be quite modular and well designed. This, however is somewhat difficult to do seeing as there is so much that goes into the bot. Once they are done though I believe that it will be well worth the wait.

I have just finished doing a bunch of real life things that I had to do (and i got a nice laptop for christmas ) so I will be spending alot more time on the bots starting from now. I can give you guys a vague estimate of how long everything will take:

1) Finish the new matchbots - 1 to 1.5 months.
2) Test the matchbots - 2 weeks to 1 month.
3) Integrate the matchbots into TWD and reset it. - 2 weeks
4) Wait for around a month and a half then pick the squads and start TWL. - 1.5 months

This is a VERY rough estimate. It could be faster or it could be slower depending on how good of a coder i am :S

Anyways thank you guys for your patience and sorry for keeping you in the dark for such a long time.

Just a thought, but won't 1.5 months be too little time for the ladders to settle to show a squads true level? One and a half months after the last reset and I don't think they show that yet.

4+ months. oh great that puts it right at May. A full year since last twl and starting at the beginning of summer yet again. How about we just start leagues now and you can work on those bots while the leagues are running and have them for next season. It's what 99% of Trenchwars players want. The leagues ran perfectly fine last season.

I want TWL to start now just as much as any of u, but the things Cpt. is doin to the bots will make the league more competative and fair. There are many games each and every day which squads who shouldnt of won, win the game bc of the !sub when someone is on 9 and dies, which in the long term can mes up the ladder. Also if he gets the new doublesquading thing in these new bots that will also help w/ it, there are how many squads out there rite now who are using a bunch of alt nicks on there roster and have about 3-4 guys who play on them each day. SOme of these squads are also located in the area of squads who will make TWL, i dont think u want to have these tyeps of squads in TWL. Now 4 months is a long time, but the league starting in May also means it will end in Fall, so squads who been hurt during summer league playoffs wont have to worry as much, for the playoffs will be held in fall sometime, if there is a quicker way to get tWL here im all for it, but i think that a few of those bot thigns need to be fixed, and especialy the double squading thing.

ur forgeting that most of the league is gonna be made up by ppl qualifying thruogh TWD, and alot of them squads have elite ppl playing for them who are on other squads, aka doublesquading, and in most cases that person WINS the games for the squad making there rank higher. I dont want to wait, but i thik that inforcing some double squading things wouldnt hurt.
