Just wondering how the picking will be going. after a certain date and time, the cap who is on the site first gets to pick first out of the people that signed up? We should get some fair way for that.

Live draft picks are the most exciting. An option is to list all the players who would like to participate. Captains must be already picked and agreed on captaining. Then a date is set in which all the captains can go into TW. Then the captains can pick according to whatever randomized drafting system. This allows ppl to spectate while the draft goes on. THere'll prob hafta be blueout or something so that only the cap can talk.

^ If not all 8 or 12 captains can make it, you can try a diff approach that pairs up a captain with a cocap somehow (random or something). Thus if the cap can't make it to the drafting date .. then the cocap can. <-- probably complicates things but it's an option.

I'm referring to basing:

1. First step is probably see how many teams there'll be by looking for reliable captains who actually want to captain. Thus # of teams is established ... bc w/o a good cap there is no team.

2. Set some dates for how the draft league will be done. How many games and tentative dates. This allows ppl to see whether or not they can make it to the games and if they even want to enter into the draft. We don't want ppl who enter draft, get picked, and find out they can't make it every Sat mornings or something. (I dunno if the games will have set dates)

3. Then get a feel for how many ppl actually want to play. If there aren't enough ppl who want to play ... even tho we have 12 cap ... then we might hafta cut it down to 8 caps. So see how many, and who wants to play.

4. Determine team size ... 8 players for a basing team ... but how many subs? The lower the # of subs, the more reliable I think the players will feel they need to be. Bc with more subs then ppl will think they can miss a game or two. Anyways ... my personal opinion is minimum 2 subs ... max 4 or 6. These aren't supposed to be huge teams.

5. Determine how the captains will select the players from the draft pool. Who gets to select first? etc.

What exactly do you mean by "reliable", anyone should be able to captain as long as they are familiar with the basing scene and do base consistently.

But the Tourny, should happen in 1 weekend, having it over severeal weekends is no good. It should be a short fun event. Draft Leagues that are built into a League type of tournament, usually fall apart because players don't care to show if they lose 1 game or so, especially if they feel they are too good for their team. I have run a few Draft Tournys before, and it always works out best if it is a Friday through Sunday deal.
