I think what i and demon were refering to was basing in general is more compact, not just the cram. Craming dont take much teamwork w/ the spiders.

To clear some things up..
You guys are fuzzing up Light's truth to basing...
For the most part, Destroy is correct.
We only had 3 truly solid basers in our squad.
Domi, Mitch, Hannes.
The rest were experienced vets-
I remember the day we decided to dive into basing..
We had a ton of people on, and we finally decided to try out some basing because Domi kept on telling us he wanted to
1. We never really gave a shit about the league until about 2 weeks before signups were decided.
2. Fbz NEVER based previously before Season 5. (If he did, it was little-to-none .. if you wanna be technical)
3. I decided to pick up Mitch because Light couldn't figure out a good ter to pick up.
I remember every game pretty well, and we used 2dragons in about 5 of our 10 games if I remember right.
We used Domi/Deny/Plague Rabbit in place of 2dragons in the other 5 he was absent or couldn't make it.
So we ended up with a line like this:
Terrier: Mitch
Sharks: Fireballz, Hannes
Javelin: 2Dragons
Spiders: Ruby(stab), Jack, DUMBRIT!, Raspi(when he was still with us)/Deny/Ara/Deny/Destroy.
That was pretty much our top line.. depending on who showed up or not we switched around Javelins.. and Phyre ended up Sharking alot when Hannes Euro ass couldn't show up =)
Just wanted to clear things up.Last edited by Ruby; 02-15-2004, 06:51 PM.I fucking own you in the warbird, shut the fuck up.

Except death row wasn't on Light, he was a cripple. The only TWO TIME TWLJ All-Star and TWLB All-Star who never played a game.

Good point, i forgot Raspi and Spy both. So u had terr - mitch, shark - hannes, raspi/spy as spider. So 4 outa ur 8 were basicaly pure basers, and ur 2nd shark/jav were not noobs to bsaing. U basicaly had 2 guys who were "new" to basing in spider.
Now that u said it, Phyre wasnt new to basing either. All ur technical ships were ppl who were experienced in basing. it was only a few of ur spiders who were non-basers.Last edited by Cig Smoke; 02-16-2004, 12:52 AM._o_2NASRALLAH

Yes, I did forget about spybreak true.. but those are spiders, and it's not like we had "set" spiders.. we used anyone that showed up. Spiders can't really be considered as "experienced positions" in basing.. and if you think they are, then obviously you havn't been around last season to see all the cannon fodder cramming spiders win the TWL-B league :P
Hence once more, Phyre was experienced true, but he was only a backup Shark and Jav, sometimes spider.

1. 1 Good Ter
2. 2 Good Sharks
3. Bunch of Competetive Vets
And you got yourself a most likely championship contending team.

Also, raspi was a baser.
If you didn't catch that.. he left Light after the 4th week into leagues.Last edited by Ruby; 02-16-2004, 04:08 AM.I fucking own you in the warbird, shut the fuck up.

hey i'll agree, "vet" duelers who go into spider are usualy pretty good, i'll agree to it, but NN said he could go to SVS and get 8 guys and train them within a month and contend for championship, then someone said thats what light did. But it isnt what light did thats what we are pointing out. By all means I aint taking away from Light, they were great that year, but they werent just 8 random noobz to basing._o_2NASRALLAH

I wasn't talking about the best of SVS
You could take some semi-talented AMLers and make a good team if they cared.
(cared again being the key word)The only TWO TIME TWLJ All-Star and TWLB All-Star who never played a game.

rubes is right for the most part, but let me clarify a few things:
- the only people i recruited solely for basing in the beginning was Hannes, Mitch, Spybreak!, and Raspi
- raspi left early in the season and spybreak! went inactive at the middle of the season
- our starting line-up was: mitch in terr (spybreak! as back up), me & hannes in shark (with phyre & destroy as back up), 2dragons in jav (domi, plague rabbit as back ups), and Ruby, Dumbrit!, Domi, Jack, Ara, Destroy as spiders (depended on who showed)
- Light was primarily a dueling squad when i formed it, i didn't really care about base league till i realized that we could actually win it
- i didn't base at all before season 5 (the only time i played in pubs was to LT and to practice my aim in wb) when we decided to go into basing i just picked one of the hardest ships to be good at in base and went to work
- we picked up Mitch because he was a rising star in terr and believed that he could lead our team to victory (and he did)
- we used 2d in every game that he showed to, because without a doubt he was the best base jav at the time (with or without lag)

You're insane..
look at lights roster, the only people who weren't hardcore basers were their spiders. Mitch in terr, fireballz and hannes in sharks and 2d in jav... that's a far fucking cry from 7 random guys from chaos zone.
And I will agree on one thing.. putting together the team is definitely the hardest part. try finding 7 guys in chaos zone willing to be trained for shit. or even in tw for that matter. go to pub and try to tell someone how to shark, they'll tell you to fuck off like they're already the best in the world.
a few days? it'd probably take more than a few days just to get one guy willing to try with you.

I think TWLB teamwork is more of just a repetitive routine that you do over and over. TWLD and TWLJ involve much more chemistry, teamwork, and individual skill to win (against a skillful opponent of course)
Also about Light winning TWLB, and people saying they're old school basers and experienced. Just remember that most of that team were duelers first and still are, they never turned into pure basers or ever were. They all just happened to become really good at basing without having to put as much effort into it as pure basing squads do, because they were already talented duelers, an easy transfer over.Siege TWLD Season 3 & 4
