Let's get the best squads into TWL

The TWD reset is coming. The ladder should be tweaked so that the best squads make it into TWL. That will make this season the most competitive it can be. Last TWL, I was squadless and I joined a new squad (HCK) to get into TWL. HCK was not ready for TWLB and broke up after one loss. HCK was able to pass up better squads that had been around longer (War Angels and Burning Rose) because it didn't have very far to climb from the starting 1000 points. Right now, a brand new basing squad would have more points than A-S (968) and would only be 113 behind Disoblige (1113).

When TWD resets, TWL playoff squads should be reset to 1300 or 1400 points. These playoff squads have proven themselves and deserve a higher starting place on the ladder. Read this thread for more on why.

This would help all three leagues but especially TWLB because fewer basing games happen (it requires 8 people and takes longer). It takes longer for the best squads to emerge from the TWLB ladder.

Also, one problem is squads that only play "easy" squads or squads like Disoblige that only play TWL squads. As Cig Smoke said, there are good reasons for playing only "easy" squads. A squad that is just getting into basing can gain confidence and interest in basing with a some easy wins. Cripples (1141) has more points than Diso. That's not right. With a "truer" ladder that is more spread out, this wouldn't be a problem because it's farther to climb and easy wins award the winner fewer points.

Dude, TWL playoff squads automatically make TWL already. I think TWD is relatively fair. I don't really think that there are 16 teams that are capable of making the playoffs in any league, nevermind win the whole thing, so I don't see why it matters whether some newbie squad that plays only easy opponents to get in gets in, or some washed-up squad that's lost most of it's good members gets in. The truth of the matter is that there are 16 slots in each league, and if you aren't good enough or dedicated enough to make it, your squad doesn't deserve to be in leagues. 16 slots!

I agree with u face, but i believe the point of making us all requalify (cept playoff squads) was to get better squads in, and eliminate the NS/BS squads. I agree there are some squads that are maybe a little better, but they dont pose much more of a challenge then BS/NS themselves, and they are ranked high enuff to make TWL. After this thing resets, its gonna be hell, bc all squads trying ot qualify are gonna be pussy squads, and its gonna be hard to get anyone to accept a challenge.

I know TWL playoff squads don't have to requalify. Setting the TWL squads to 1300 or 1400 isn't for the benefit of those squads, it's to make the points rewarded to those who play those squads fair.

Squads should get more points for winning against a good team and fewer for a win against a weaker team. If they lose, they should lose fewer points for losing to a good team and more for losing to a bad team. Right now, that's not happening. Want proof? RB has 1181 points and is in 3rd place. We will make TWL, I'm not worried. But Cripples, has 1141 points they are not really a basing team (they're not even on the ladder anymore) they did it with easy wins against easier squads. Cig Smoke said so here. As I said, they had good reasons for doing this, but their standing on the ladder should reflect their skill accurately.

The bottom line is good squads like A-S and Diso (and Pallies before they started basing more this month) have scores that are too low. While they are like this, squads are either going to be reluctant to play against them, or if they do, will be penalized too much for losing against them.

When TWD resets, why would a squad accept against 1000 point Pallies and probably lose, when they can accept against 1000 point NewbieSquad. If Pallies started with 1400 and NewbieSquad started with 1000, then you wouldn't lose as many points if you accept against Pallies (as it should be).

In addition, "pussy squads" that only accept against new squads with 1000 points won't gain as many points as "real squads" that win against 1400 point TWL playoff squads.

This problem doesn't affect most squads because the ladder is mostly correct, but it does affect the last few spots. Those spots should be filled with the best possible squads- not some new squad (like HCK last year) that plays a few easy matches and gets in TWL. These squads make TWL less competitive and cause delays and scheduling problems when they dissolve.

Yeah, RB doesn't accept Pallies all the time. They'd rather 8v8 themselves or play RB vs world in go base than gain some ground in TWD. So basically I won't take into account any points you have put up so far. Any squad that thinks they deserve to be in TWLB over the 'crappy' squads that can bullshit their way through the ranks, can do the exact same thing that the crappy squads do, but to a higher extent because they're better. Refusing squads is just a ridiculous fad, there's hardly ever 2 squads with 8 active players on at any given time, so when they do have 8 they base.

*Sigh* I'm tired of this one. RB played in 126 games in January alone. That's 4 per day. That's more than any other basing squad. Saying RB refuses Pallies is like saying a hooker turns down sex for money. All we do is base.

Pallies played 21 TWBD games in January. Beat RB 5 times, lost 2 times. You played RB in 1/3 of your games in January.

Focus, people. The ladder can be improved. I think I know how.

Given the amount already qualified squads fuck around during TWD, I think this is kind of a bad idea. It'll probably result in some feeding situations, where squads that are good but didn't make playoffs fork out some points to the well known squads because they've got them to spare. I'm not particularly a fan of the current set up, but I can see your proposal making it very hard for an unknown squad (say, spastic last season) to make a splash in twd. Already qualified squads just mess around too much. especially in base where twbd is just for fun for most of them.

I think geek's idea is pretty good. the squads that already qualify are screwing around now, but I'm pretty sure they'll get more serious after the reset. sure, they won't be hungry to win every single game, and maybe will try different lineups and stuff, but I don't think they'd really feed squads.

Your simile is flawed. RB is a hooker that turns down sex for more money than they could get to sleep with a lower paying customer. (aka I didn't say you weren't basing when you refuse our challenge, you just choose to play shit opponents -go base world team- or worthless games -intersquad-)
