  • TWDT-B WEEK 1 Hot or Not

    Thunder vs Power
    15:00 - 2:19

There is not much to say about this match and the score itself should tell the whole story. Thunder dominated their opponents and the game was quickly over.

JAMAL and Major Crisis had excellent games in shark with both getting a perfect 3.0 RPD.Zidane and Beam played decently but were unable to carry their team due to the weight of their terrier, Tiny (10-10), making the game nearly unwinnable from the get-go.

The three musketeers of Thunder, Ease (67-31), Rozay (63-29), and Erias (66-22) all put on an amazing display of skill with their dominant performances. Solace (50-26) had a good game, and Unlimited (38-34) was a non-factor in the game, however with how well rest of his team was playing he did not have much to do anyway. Power was having some serious issues in their opening match with only cripple (63-41), bram (55-39) and skatarius (55-32) playing at acceptable levels. Rasaq (46-41) and JacKieChan> (42-39) were struggling to get an even score. Nevertheless none of the aforementioned spiders can be blamed for the loss as they were severely handicapped by their terrier, Tiny.

Ogron had a nearly faultless performance and carried his team to an easy victory as it was handed to them on a silver platter.

    HOT : Ogron (31-1)
Honorable mentions: Ease, Rozay, and Erias.

NOT : Tiny (10-10) with an utterly disgraceful performance

    Legio XI vs Gladiator
    15:00 - 14:56

Without a shadow of doubt this was match of the week. It could have gone both ways, but in the end Legio XI managed to push to gain control of the upper base sealing the deal. Lupin recorded the match and it can be viewed by clicking HERE.

Legio Xi started with Mythril (4-133, 2.8 RPD) and omega red in shark, however Steadman (7-16) was struggling in spider and they quickly switched positions with him and omega red to finalize the lineup. They were evenly matched with Sulla (10-125, 2.7 RPD) and morph (15-125) and neither team had a shark advantage in this game.

The notable difference in this match were the spiders, however spider strength is not everything and ultimately Legio Xi claimed a hard-fought victory. Trasher (139-45) was running amok in flag room battles and had a dominating performance with his partner in crime, nowon (127-70). Tripin (106-66) has been one of the most underrated spiders in past seasons, and managed to end the game with 3 terrier kills. Lupin (99-57) and mvp (74-49) carried their own weight as low-star options. Surprisingly, this was not enough to secure the match despite clearly having the edge. On the winning side Henry Saari (115-60) did his usual high kill yet low contribution performance. BrokenFist (85-68), omega red (97-58), and Rab (93-75) all had good games and fought hard to grab the victory for their team. skyforger (82-75) was perhaps the weakest overall performing member, but it is difficult to play against top class players like as Trasher and nowon who punish players with lesser energy management and aim.

Mikkiz (38-5) had a good game and his more aggressive positioning is what ended up giving the edge to their team. His counterpart SpookedOne (34-4) had a solid game, but sometimes his overly passive style can be costly. Both played well and contributed to their teams, and that is pretty much all you can ask from terriers.

    HOT : Trasher (139-45) and Nowon (127-70)
Honorable mentions: Tripin, SpookedOne, and Mikkiz.

    Thunder vs Legio XI
    15:00 - 11:05

Thunder continued strong and grabbed yet another victory after their mediocre start in other leagues.

Mythril (7-107, 2.9 RPD) had a good game, but he can not seem to settle with a partner with omega red (7-71, 2.8 RPD) and Steadman (3-38, 2.7 RPD) switching positions yet another game in a row. On the other hand Thunder seems to have found their shark duo with JAMAL (13-109, 2.9 RPD) and Major Crisis (10-110, 2.8 RPD) playing together for the second consecutive match, and I suppose the saying "if it's not broken, don't fix it" applies here quite well.

Solace (96-51) seems to be warming up which is a good sign considering he is the second highest rated spider on the team. Both Rozay (97-39) and Erias (84-49) are slowly proving to be some of the best low star options for spider, and should their form remain the same or improve it bodes well for the future of Thunder. Engineers (68-40) and vys (71-56) had slightly weaker performances compared to their team mates, but still had adequate games and can be happy with the win. Legio XI had to settle with a loss this time around with Rab (97-51) and Henry Saari (102-52) being the only two players on their side have a good game. BrokenFist (70-52) could not take advantage of his latency and was shut down magnificently. Steadman (51-40) was lackluster and needs to play much better in future games. Their 6-star spider, 1000k (53-47),had a poor game barely averaging one kill every 30 seconds.

This seems to have been a battle of the terriers with both Ogron (47-6) and Mikkiz (39-11) killing each other for a combined of 9 times.

    HOT : Ogron (47-6)
    Honorable mentions: Solace
    , Rozay, and Rab.

    Silence vs Terrorist
    10:58 - 15:00

Terrorist started off strong and did not have much trouble closing the game with solid performances all-around from their members. Silence on the other hand had some weak links in their starting lineup and will have to iron out the problems as soon as possible should they want to challenge for a title this season.

As expected Commodo (20-102, 2.9 RPD) had a solid performance in shark, however same could not be said about his partner fire phoenix (1-69, 2.5 RPD) who was struggling to regain his form. olde (3-42, 2.8 RPD) was later substituted in and performed at an adequate level and will likely be featured as the second shark in future games. On the opposing side Markmrw (11-108, 2.8 RPD) and Oderus Urungus (27-100, 2.9 RPD) were a constant threat with latter of the two playing very aggressively and connecting bombs left and right, and these two were the key to their teams success in this match.

As far as spiders are concerned, the most notable performers were Ra (94-49) and Bacon (82-59) on the Terrorist side. Dreamwin (79-56) was not playing on his usual level, but you can expect him to be less rusty in the coming weeks. MaiTo_cHi (80-49) was a pleasant surprise and can be happy with how he played in this match. Perhaps the only player to have a weak game was Burnt (63-41), but he is someone you can trust to regain his form within a couple games. On the losing side Turban (113-50)and hellkite (85-58) matched well on the top side of flag room, and had great games each. miles morales (81-48) was designated as the under spider and did reasonably well considering his limited experience in the role. AFRI (69-68) and Geio (63-42) were struggling and will need to step up in the coming weeks should they want to start in more games.

Zizzo (38-6) and Waz (30-7) were evenly matched in terrier and neither could be blamed or praised after the match. Simply put, both had a decent game.

HOT : Oderus Urungus (27-100, 2.9 RPD) was the most influential player on the field by being a constant threat
Honorable mentions: Turban (113-50) and Zizzo (38-6)

NOT : fire phoenix seemed lost in shark, and had issues with timing and getting his repels off.

    Gladiator vs Terrorist
    15:00 - 12:44

This seems to have been a good match based on the scoreboard, and Gladiator ended up being victorious due to having superior spider power. The match was recorded by Lupin and can be viewed by clicking HERE.

Morph (21-110, 2.8 RPD) is an up-and-coming shark talent and had another good game where as Sulla (5-107, 2.8 RPD) looks more often than not completely lost when he is sharking and it was quite fun to watch him in action. Despite Oderus Urungus (15-112, 3.0 RPD) having a great game it was not enough to carry his team to a victory, partly due to his partner Markmrw (18-121, 2.6 RPD) having a difficult time, getting completely shut down by the enemy spiders and sharks.

The main difference was the spiders as Gladiator has one of the strongest spider lineups in the league. The dominant duo of nowon (121-47) and Trasher (108-35) were once again under control and managed to secure a win. Lupin (94-52), Lockdown (94-56), and Clark Kentaro (80-57) had excellent games as well which really proves how much depth this roster has when it comes to spiders. On the flip side Terrorist had no one who stood outwith everyone having a mediocre game. Bacon (71-67) and MaiTo_cHi (72-69) were barely able to break even, where as Burnt (80-51) and Ra (82-68) had decent but not good games. Zizzo (59-28) started as spider, but was later changed into terrier with Dreamwin switching ships constantly trying to make a difference?but it was all in vain.

SpookedOne (27-8) had an alright game and carried his own weight. Zizzo (13-5) and Dreamwin (21-5) were unable to do much in terrier.

    HOT : nowon (121-47)
Honorable mention: Trasher (108-35) and Oderus Urungus (15-112, 3.0 RPD)

    NOT : Markmrw

    Power vs Silence
    15:00 - 14:49
An extremely close match at first glance, however it should be noted that Silence started the match rather arrogantly with only 7 starting members and did not make any changes to their lineup until 14 minutes into the game with substitution of miles morales (49-34) for Waz (53-21) and adding World (57-34) as the 8th member. Silence was down by roughly 10 minutes by this point, and most likely would have comfortably won with much earlier changes to the lineup.

Zidane (9-122, 2.7 RPD) was definitely not performing on his usual level, however beam (14-117, 2.8) on the other hand had yet another stout performance showing why he was drafted early to his team due to his insane value. Commodo (18-119, 2.9 RPD) and olde (14-121, 2.9 RPD) had both great games and this is most likely going to be shark pair for most of their games. It would be a fair statement to make that the sharks on both sides were evenly matched.

However, same can not be said about spiders where both Tiny (57-85) and Whinegum (49-75) could have been replaced by trained chimpanzees for similar levels of performance for their team. Luckily on a brighter note Cripple (149-71) displayed once again why he is considered one of the best all-around spiders in the zone, and his team mates Skatarius (112-60) and Rasaq (104-81) were good enough to ensure their team would not collapse from the heavy weight of those two aforementioned spiders. On the opposing side Turban (140-70) had a strong game with hellkite (118-53) providing balance with his more defensive style of play. fire phoenix (109-94) was a bit too aggressive and poor at managing his energy, however overall he can be satisfied with his performance as spider is not one of his main ships. Waz and World had a nice game and should expect be featured more often in future games.

Thix (60-4) poured his heart and soul for his team in an attempt to hard carry his team, however Bram (54-7) did not give up without a fight and had a great game solidifying himself as one of the best low star options for terrier. In the end Thix warped into enemy team on top of the flag without any help due to a timing error and the game was promptly over.

    HOT : Thix (60-4) and cripple (149-71)
Honorable mentions: Turban (140-70) and Bram (54-7)

NOT : Tiny (57-85) with perhaps the worst spider performance of all-time
NOT : Commodo for taking his sweet time to fix the lineup. A humbling lesson for the team.

Player(s) of the Week:nowon (121-47 and 127-70) and Trasher (108-35 and 139-45). This formidable duo is a force to be reckoned with and should not be taken lightly.

Honorable mentions: Ogron (31-1 and 47-6), Oderus Urungus (15-115, 3.0 RPD and 27-100, 2.9 RPD), and Turban (140-70 and 113-50).

As a quick disclaimer, I did not watch any games and based everything on my general knowledge of players and scoreboards which .. well, is not probably not the most accurate thing to do anyway. No one else stepped up so figured a simple HoN would suffice for last week.

You should watch the videos by Lupin. I will check them out later, and thanks again for recording.

This is awesome. Thanks for doing writing it up. I annoyingly missed Week 1 as I had a long flight Sunday so it's really interesting to read how my team and others performed.

Great write-up Turban, thanks for this. Formatting game also on point.

I'll post a TWDT-D Hot or Not to fill in for the week, since others are stepping up to help.

Hey I resent that you said I was a non factor, given I was just being aggressive and playing under in which I was effective.. but I understand you?re just going by stats.
