TWDT Season 20 Signups

Wasn't sure if I could play, but looks like I'll be moving later in the year. I will be taking a 2 week vacation between Feb-April, not sure the dates yet, small chance it will be during TWDT.

PS: Captains, I'm done practicing/playing WB, 2019 was an anomaly, going back to normal 2006-2018 levels of not caring about that ship, so don't expect more than slightly better than 1:1 in TWDT-D if you pick me. I will continue to be a 19* talent in terr, of course.

This sounds like the same problem I've described before - after around 10 rounds of drafting caps have picked everyone they really want and start talking about randomising the rest of the draft. I had suggested that maybe we could allow caps to pass, and if all caps pass then the remainder are randomised.

But what MC just said made me think of another way... dynamic ratings...

Dynamic Ratings (just one of many ways to do it)
After round X (e.g. 10) all remaining players have their stars reduced by 1*.
Picking continues as normal until the end of the draft.

Hard for me to comment on other people's ratings because I'm a newbie, so can only really say how the ratings have affected me personally.

My 'Stars' rating on WB on TWD is the third worst out of the entire top 40, and I think I'm a bit better now than the last TWDTD, yet my rating was given as a 7 back then. I think I've also only played one game of TWDTD, years ago, not counting a borrow appearance for Criminal in the last TWDT.
This 7 rating made me a bad pick in the free agency. Might be better if ratings were mostly based on actual measurables with 'gut feelings' coming in afterwards.

Poseiden saying I should be a 7 in Base because I can aim is a bit flippant, I've literally played zero games of Base in TWDTB, and only started TWBD a little bit last month with Suspiria so I should be a six. Putting me to a 7 is going to put me on the bench again for another season, as I'd imagine there's 7s out there that have actually played TWDTB before, and captains are going to go with experience.

Also, increasing stars allowance per game looks like it makes it only more elite. Forcing in an amount of 6 star players or lowering the total stars count per game might help other scrubs like me get some game time.

Like I said, the difference between lower 7 star players and starting 7s is too much. Many seasons people get rated 7 in a ship they never play in. But because they can aim in another ship they get rated a 7. But making them a 6 is often broken too..

Part of you not being able to play Grasps is the shitty rating system. You are too good to be a 6, but you always have a 7 on your team who is better or friends with captain... There is so much difference in skill level on the lower ratings overall..

God bless you ixa! Gotta say it really is pretty bad how twdt is setup.. I got a lot of play time but only because I was a 6 and shouldn't have been. The whole entire league I witnessed good players show each and every single Sunday just to sit on the bench and that just plain sucks. I get it, TWDT is for players to get better at other positions etc, but I think at this time the best move would be to change that, at least a little bit. Put some kind of incentive to start newer players, OR simply make it mandatory to have one 6 star in game.

Think the last 5-6 TWDT's I've signed up for/showed up for, I've not been allowed to play so fuck you guys. Fuck you (those responsible) for wasting my Sundays. Gotta say, my man Rough allowed me entry a few times because he's a stand up cat and has balls and doesn't tuck. Doesn't "nayy", mans "baa"s.

Never lost a game with the guy either. He'd just set his crazy amount of medals down on the ground and the sheer weight of them shook the ground so bad our opponents would fall out their chairs. Pretty sure Iron Survivors house fell down once because of it. Think maybe some innocent people died too from building collapses but shit happens. Was good times though, great memories.

Hell.. Rab hasn't seen the sun since 1999 and walks on all fours eating raw fish and shit. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Ok, I will signup and I am willing to cap. Could consider dropping my jav rating to 9 as I feel like I haven't been relevant in quite a while. Had negative K last season. Most of the 9's last season are better than me and even some of the broken 8s.

these ratings are lacking and could be more accurate, insofar as if i took time to watch & analyze each player a lot of the ratings would prob be ".5" different. the only player's rating i can honestly say i put any consideration of the sort is Nipple Nibblers shark as i watched the video from last TWDT trying to understand how we lost finals to Haze and it became obvious very quickly as to what was the major factor. Generally a bit better shark than a 7.5, but playoff performance should be weighed far heavier than twbds or what have you

Coming from a spider that still thinks it's okay to not shoot sharks in flag room, I probably did play bad that game, but you still need to learn the basic concepts of basing before rating people IMHO.
