Already started a convo w/ BIET about it, and it looks like this is only affecting TWDTB arenas with the issue being a tiny overlap of spawn positions for each team. It's a 5 minute fix if we want to change it.

It should be changed immediately. It's not technically cheating, but it's also not a fucking "meta" or "strategy", it's abusing poor spawn coding.

My impression is neither Phoenix nor Power is interested in doing this in our Semi-Finals, and our sharks are not going to be doing this (unless it's being done to them.)

I saw Dwopple die 5x spawning on a mine, leaving your team without a shark for 5 seconds is stupid and crippling and obviously not how the game was designed (or any game is designed, game designers update their games if flaws in spawn camping are discovered.)

I'll agree that laying mines in spawn is annoying and should be changed, but it isn't cheating. I'll also say that while it's annoying for the opposing team the 5-10x it works in 30 mins, it hurt shark timing more on the team laying the mines. It'd be cheating if he knew to lay the mines where he was sure someone will spawn.

I'll admit I wrote my post based solely on Ogron's HoN and inferring what had happened. That being said, Riverside, thank you for making my point for me. If anyone would be in a position to say "there are only x spawns and therefore me mining gets a kill 1 our of x times" it'd be Sprackle. Dwopple Do you think maybe that has something to do with it being a novel strat no one had thought to try?

Ur rite, I think sum1 like sprackle wouldn't do something like this if he wasn't coding for Staff & actively using his superpowers for gud (a lot of coders I know like to break shit to help improve shit). The only way he does this is by knowing the coords by being a staff membir not by being a smart annoying goingaroundoragainsttherulesfk. We shud strip him of his position, we haf more than enuf codirs around in tw volunteering their time rn.

This was a sprackle move. Guy finds a bug, twiddles his thumbs and giggles. In this case, he found one that a few other sharks knew about (i did not). He used it in the playoffs looool this fk. And in this case: it was a disadvantage and against the rules. Whereas with shrap (for example, tangentially), Sprack (& a2m, Tab) opened the shrap shark game up (imo): fairly.

That has nothing to do with his position, imo, unless you can prove to me otherwise (countering with: he has access, isnt proof; he doesn't need Staff access for this bug). Thats what I was implying, and now explicitly saying.

Do you know how spawns work? Allow me to explain:

How they work normally, using arena settings:
You set a coord and then a radius around it and the spawns are random

How it works since recent changes to our bots:
There are a set number of coords that are rotating through (or so it seems)

You tell me if I'm making a giant leap by thinking that only certain people are aware of this fact and he's exploiting it for his benefit? Like yes I'm explicitly saying it. He explicitly did it. This isn't even something that could of happened 3 TWDT's ago. To call it a new and novel meta is basically an attempt at gaslighting.

I don't want him to face any repercussions since his team is eliminated, but I also don't want to paper over what was clearly a shitty thing to do.

Hmmmmm ok I was too lazy to edit my original post regarding cycling through a fixed # of spawns, but that was just my lack of knowledge. BIET may be able to weigh in a bit more, but after chatting more w/ him it does seem TWDTB is using arena settings and for whatever reason has slightly different settings than TWBD and TWLB maps. Just calling it out out as it looks like it has led to some spicy accusations.

Dwopple It would be a bot-side thing that would happen during DT games. Looking at settings without running a game won't show you the issue. From what I recall BIET said that bots now handled spawn placement but it would be practically imperceptible as you would appear as if you just spawned. I would love to be wrong about this and if I am I will 100% apologize.

Edit: How is saying Sprackle exploited what was clearly a glitch during a playoff game a hot take? Even if bots had nothing to do with this, Pheonix would of won any appeal had they needed it.

It sound's like Dwopple's saying it's not a bot issue so much as the TWDTB arena has different spawn settings than every other basing arena. Who knew that? We're not calling that a glitch or exploit? The excuses in this thread are dookie.

I have absolutely no skin in this game, but I'd like to say that this isn't so innovative as people claim. This is almost no different whatsoever from people in the past intentionally camping the spawn zones in the TWDD/TWLD/TWDTD arenas and/or shooting in that direction looking for spawn kills, or staying in the spawn area in Jav arenas to kill people. It was done by nearly every "top" squad around for 20+ years. The only reason it isn't done now is because the spawn system has been changed.

I think the basing spawn system will be easily coded out and this wont ever happen again, but I find it extremely hypocritical for anyone to claim this is a bozo move when it was done for so many years by many of you in the dueling arenas. It still happens in Elim and others as well.

Lol oh yeah, when we used to warp bullet or warp bomb at the same time in the 30 seconds before go. For what its worth, it started with a few players iirc, then a couple teams, then quite a few players within each team in TWLD (and sometimes TWLJ) before BIET did his fucking wonder coding work and nipped that shit in the bud for everyone to stop.
