domain name advice...

i was thinking of getting a domain name, but the name i want is only availiable as .ws

is it just the same as .net or .com, or are there any disadvantages to owning this domain suffix?

People won't take it as seriously, especially if it's a professional site. Face it; .com looks a lot more professional, with .net and .org being just slightly behind that. What the hell is .ws? I don't think I've ever heard of that before.

yeah, i would go with either finding a different domain name, or do whois lookups on them and see if any expire in the near future... if the only domain name is .ws, then chances are it's a pretty popular domain name and you'll have a hard time getting that particular one. i'd try a different domain name.

There is a '.gg' TLD. It's for Guernsey, which is a British Isle I think. I'm not too sure though. Anyway, it's rather expensive to get a domain from them, and you have to apply and what not, stating what the domain is to be used for, but I oh so want the domain 'http://owned.gg'. Even with the www thrown in there, it'd be pretty damn sweet.

With most browsers and servers you don't need the http:// or the www. On topic, find a variation of your domain name or come up with a new one.
