  • Gamecube owners? Techies?

My Gamecube has been very fiesty as of late.

I keep getting game disc errors. Is this just a factor of a dirty lens? If it is, is there anyway that I can clean it with out having to go into a Gamestop or other electronics store?

My warrenty is already void, so if you have anything that will conflict it, tell me anyway.

I'm not sure if it's the same, but I cleaned my PS2 laser with a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab (q-tip). Just don't push it very hard, and leave it for a bit before plugging it back in.

I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal...

If you all could read the topic please?

Should I just take it to Gamestop or should I do it myself?

Try what Stabwound sugessted. It usually works for me, too.

The thing is it is a good 20 mins before it starts acting up...

                        Think it is the fan?

I havent delt with a GC before but From my PS2 experience I would say it could be an alignment problem. And as for Gamestop I wouldnt recomend if that is a chain type game store. Better off to go to a smaller store. I paid 20$ for a 150 repair cuz I talked to the guy for about 30 mins.

Mine has never had a problem...but then again i never use it.

My PS2 though...I am amazed that thing isnt completely worn out, between the Castlevanias, Chrono Cross and Final Fantasies...

well, if it was the fan, wouldn't you be able to hear if it's on or off? and the fan would only be there to help cool the board, right? i mean, if the board overheated, wouldn't it be done permanently? not just after 20 min?

i'm guessing it would be more of a reading error of some kind, not a cooling problem. but if you want to rule out the fan idea, get a portable fan if you have one somewhere in the house, and set it next to the venting slots of your gc. then turn the fan up, and see if u get the same problem.
